    Hi can you give some advice for baby hand casting they don't hold still they take out their hand thank you

    • @Edinburghcasting
      @Edinburghcasting  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Casting a baby's hands is particularly tricky which is why we don't sell kits for just baby hands. We do a kit for mum or dad holding baby's hand which is easier because you can hold their hand in position while the casting jelly sets. We tend to suggest having your baby's hands cast by a professional casting artist who will be experienced at taking casts. I hope that helps! The Edinburgh Casting Studio

    When you put your hands into the pink cast how long altogether did you have to leave your hands in there before it turned to the stone colour. I only ask because there were jump cuts in the video. Thanks

    Can you pour casting wax into the alginate mould?

    • @Edinburghcasting
      @Edinburghcasting  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not really recommended as the heat may cause issues with the alginate

    Could you use this kit for making a resin hand bust instead of using the quick results mixture youse provide?

    • @shidaprini8838
      @shidaprini8838 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Resin can't be casted in alginate, because alginate it's water based.

    • @deancrawford7470
      @deancrawford7470 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shida Prini thanks for the advice, I’ve seen people using Alginate for making resin casts in other yt tutorials hence why I thought this could work

    • @shidaprini8838
      @shidaprini8838 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Okay, I have seen a American yt use a really fast cast resin,(that's not transparent), that I haven't found available in the uk, but apart from that nothing. The moisture in the alginate mould inhabits the resin to cure correctly. What I do with my life castings is wait until they fully dry, and mould them with a silicone that can cast epoxy resin.

    Why don't u add the water in shift s and put the alginate in the jar first..

    • @Edinburghcasting
      @Edinburghcasting  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is our tried and tested method. Putting the water in first helps ensure smooth mixing. We hope this answers your question? Thanks

    Can we use dental alginate for this ?

  • @SteDolphin

    What is the proper way of mixing it, without a mixer ?

    • @Edinburghcasting
      @Edinburghcasting  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can use a hand whisk, but you need to act fast! The mixing bit must be done within 1 minute. It can be done, but it's easier with an electric mixer. Hope this helps.
