Nice job Rob. I love dungeon crawlers and tactical mini games. I don't have this one. I'll have to give it a try one day.

I really appreciate the passion for the game shown here. It's a decent exposure to the core of the core rules, lol. It's enough to enable an outsider to decide whether or not it's the type of game they would want to play. Well done, sir.

One serious error in your review. :) This game is a 9.9/10 and represents the prefect summer action movie. :) It would be a 10 if the mini's were pre-painted (yes I have no time to paint). Thank you for doing this.

Great review! And I must agree with you wholeheartedly, Rob... Space Hulk is a 9/10 game for me, as well. Love it! :-D I have the first edition since the late 80s (when it was brand new) and played the hell out of it. I got the 4th Edition last year, which made me very happy, because I skipped getting the 3rd edition, not thinking I needed it, and then saw how cool it was and had heavy regrets. Great game... and I think the addition of the sand timer was a very cool alteration to the rules. :-)

Since I was a kid I've heard of Space Hulk but have never really seen it.
Thank you so much for showing off some of the classic games. And you are one of the best reviewers that the Dice Tower has so please keep it up.

I used to play a homebrew version of this using Space Hulk, Space Crusade and Advanced Space Crusade games, with added WH40K miniatures and loads of different house rules ( including a special pile for marines who died heroically). I still have lots of my miniatures but no longer have the games. Holding out for a lucky charity find, like i had with Blood Bowl.
Great review of a great game, maybe GW will bring out another (slightly cheaper) version in their up and coming "classics" line.

Thanks for doing this, Rob. Space Hulk will always have a special place in my heart. It was the game that brought me back to gaming about 10 years ago...

+robert oren Well... SH is actually 30 years old now. I played it once in the 80s and then didn't care about gaming at all till my mid 30s. Then someone found a copy of SH Ed1 on a flee market and gave it to me. That started everything... Space Hulk -> Blood Bowl -> Boardgames -> Addict :-)

Wow, another great review, Rob! I especially liked your intro. I've had my eye on "Space Hulk" for some time, but the price has been a factor that has stood in my way. But your review has really amped up my desire to get it. Just a question, how hard is it to put the minis together? This was a big problem I had with "Shadows of Brimstone." Don't get me wrong, I think "Shadows of Brimstone" is a fantastic game, but my manual dexterity is very poor and the minis came out looking pretty bad after I glued them together. While it hasn't stopped me from playing "Shadows," the game experience is a little less than it could have been had I done a better job of putting the minis together. I'm amazed at your talent for painting minis, I've never even tried to do this! I've watched your "Painting 101" videos and I do intend to try painting some of my minis when I have more time. Anyway, keep up the great work!

I played the first edition (with expansions) back in the early 90s. I really enjoyed that game but sadly have not played it since. It was definitely an epic experience to play! Great review, Rob! :)

Sold my first Edition in 2011 because I had no people who would like to play it. It's simple and good! Jaming bolters are such a pain! lol There were also expansions with psykers and a book with additional rules and scenarious.

I played this game only on PC in more than 5 different version (some are simplified, some are an exact copy of the board game) and I love it! I don't know if throwing real dice, counting action points etc makes the game slower....but on pc is simply awesome!

Great review Rob. We bought a painted copy with custom foam insert. Do you make custom inserts to protect your mini pieces of art? Remember Justin recommending this game to play with my son. Hope to see you guys demo the game. He loves the Aliens v. Predator theme. Thanks for the inspiration.

"Space Hulk 4th edition is still available today"..... nope !! still out of stock in Europe.... but something tells me there just maybe a reprint coming up. update: Looking into it there was a reprint in Christmas 2016. I was very lucky
as I was in Manchester England around Feb 2017 and one shop had just one copy left - thanks Fanboy 3.

Space Hulk and HeroQuest were a huge part of my teenage years. When there were three or four of us, we played Warhammer Fantasy miniatures, but when there were only two of us, we played those board games. More than four, we role-played!

I have Space Hulk on my shelf, still factory-sealed, mainly because I've never put miniatures together and I'm hesitant. But now, with Blood Bowl coming out and having only 3 pieces per miniature, I think I'm ready to take the plunge. Great review, Rob; it certainly made me want to play the game!

One thing I always loved when I was playing WH:40K, Necromunda, and such is how nice the GW rulebooks and resources are for their games.

    • @doomed2063
      @doomed2063 8 ปีที่แล้ว

Fantasy Flight Games produces some of the nicest components in the industry but GW beats them all as far as component quality is concerned. It's a beautiful game and when you see the high quality of everything included you actually feel like you got your $150 worth.
GW board games are on the expensive end so the average gamer needs to be more selective when it comes to adding GW games to their collection but at least you know up front that you are getting what you pay for and with GW, quality is king.

Hey Rob, I really like your videos, so I hope you won't take offense to a little criticism. I've never played Space Hulk, and there were a lot of points of reference that would've been more helpful to me up-front that could've given me some perspective on what you were talking about in most of the video (i.e. how does either side win? Is this exclusively a 2-player game? Etc.). What I'm getting at is that this video seemed more friendly to people who have already played some edition of the game already. Criticism aside, I'm glad to see you in more Dice Tower videos!

Your enthusiasm this game is completely justified! I used to have and play the 1st edition in the early 90s. I was able to obtain a copy of the 4th edition in 2014. It's way more detailed in every aspect! Thanks for such an animated review!

Great Review, have all versions and associated books and articles. We play blind space hulk which was an alternative which you take black color poster size paper use silver color marker and grid out paper per size of the space hulk squares. Genestealer player place blips on square on poster paper associated to the map you are using. Space Marine player(s) shoud not know what mission you are playing and only pieces of board placed out is where marines are and/or have line of site to or have passed though . Gives great atmosphere to game seeing blips on black squares getting closer to your space marines not know if they are in hallways or rooms.
