    You all rock! She's looking more like her original swag! I basically am looking at this project like a House Flip, where you buy a house, fix it up for the minimum costs so you can flip it and make a profit. Seems you all bought the boat for $100 and it seems you figured out it did not need any major structural work as I havent seem you talk about anything major like the engine, keel or electrical. Therefore its mostly labor with allot of SANDING and PAINTING, lol. I am guessing your overall investment was maybe around 25K and you are hoping to sell it for 50-75K and try to double your money.

    You should learn how to use oxalic acid just looking at windlass platform and companionway stairs you see all the black stains acid and more sanding they could look brand new if thinking about selling in the future don't win 3/4 of the race and call quits if your already spending time and money always finish as best as you can

    Girl you are a sanding machine. I wish I had you to work on my boat. Yes it is very satisfying to refinish wood. It looks so good after all the hard work. I bought a new unfinished teak cockpit tablet for my sail boat. My old one I varnished . This time I used Sea-Fin teak oil which a guy in a local marine store recommended . After 220 sanding you apply it by burnishing it in with 320 wt or dry paper. I did three coats and it looks amazing more a natural color and has a satin sheen. I don’t leave it out but it seems to be holding up really well.

    I think on the wooden steps you will need some sort of grip.or will keep slipping down them when they get wet. What I don't get is American use of the word cork you call cock. Reason why it was called corking because it was cork weed that was used to seal windows and in the first cars Cork was used as a gasket.

  • @patraic5241
    @patraic5241 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's probably to late. When you mount the windlass over size the holes and fill them with thickened epoxy. Then drill the holes for the bolts. That way if the bolts ever leak the water will only be in contact with the epoxy and not the wood of the mounting plate. That will help prevent the mounting and or deck from wet rotting unseen.

    About your incredible work on the hand rails - wouldn't it be easier to remove them and work on it on a bench? You turn it around instead of working head under. And if there is any special work, you may sort the pieces according to their state and need of special treatment.

    When putting on the seal why not take off the wood to get to the spots that have something over it? Is it because it is covered that you don't need to do this? I was just thinking about the possibility of water getting to those spots and rotting the wood.
