I have completely give up on estimating Oda's timeframes. After so many instances of 2019: "one piece will be done in 5 years", "Egghead will be a short in between arc" and similar predictions, the man has crushed my ability to make any assumptions.
Can we all agree that Egghead has been the greatest arc in One Piece yet... Perfectly paced, perfect plot, new story telling technique, crazy art, top dogs showing their powers and one of the single greatest back stories even penned on paper... It was a chef's kiss
Seeing Don Krieg and Gin actually doing well for themselves was awesome. I like to think that after his defeat against Luffy he saw the error of his ways like Bellamy did and became much more honourable. Seeing Cricket and the monkey brothers was awesome too :D I'm up to Skypiea in my reread so I was wondering when we'd see them. This arc has been fantastic.
This is why I enjoy the "in-between" arcs more than the "main" arcs. They can be really good, but sometimes too long. Arcs like this and Saboady cram so much into the runtime that give you food for thought in spades!
Drake is in a private cabin in GS hospital. Smoker literally asked Tashigi where she is to which she responded by saying they were at the Hospital. Smoker is coming from somewhere and is most likely on the way to the hospital towards where Koby, Drake & other SWORD Members are.
To be honest I don't think there is much left to do in the arc. The straw hats almost together, Vegapunk's message is interrupted and the dome is open. The only things I can think of to do is meeting Vivi and deciding what happens to York.
@@MrWarriorace Meeting Vivi can't happen in this arc. First Sabo needs to meet Vivi to give her her father's message, then Vivi and Sabo can go to Luffy. I think they'll either meet leaving elbaf, or on lodestar
The strawhats are already escaping, only one of the gorosei is on their back and apparently, Vegapunk's lore dump is over. I think end of July is a pretty reasonable time frame to tie up the last few loose ends, unless we enter flashback mode or something which I doubt. Since this arc was so heavy on world building, I wonder if the post arc chapters will be just as dense as the last few post arcs or if they'll be lighter reads. Kinda hope we get to see the strawhats cool down and hang out one last time before the finale.
Friendly trivial reminder because I've seen people for some reason reemerge wondering what the X in X Drake stands for: X is a Roman numeral for 10, 10 in Spanish is diez. Diez Drake. Tis a pun lol
@@jagkopp I just looked it up. Even read a few chapters. Apparently, Drake's father is Diez Barrels. Which means Drake's real name is Diez Drake. But instead, he goes by X Drake. Diez (Spanish for 10) = X (Roman Numeral for 10). Ch. 765-767. Ep. 704-706. Drake didn't get along with his father, so I'm guessing that's why he did the name change. Hope this helps. 😅
When the giant robot first attacked Mariejois, it's mentioned that it shut down before it could do any major damage. It was ordered to be destroyed by the Elders but scientists wanted to preserve it (a la Ohara) and hid it on the island that would become Egghead.
Funny fact: We've already see Zoro do the Rashōmon attack before and I'm not japanese but im pretty sure it means "To open a path/gateway" but this new upgraded attack has an addition to the name (like purgatory onigiri) and the addition can be translate to "Heaven for the elderly" so Zoro's attack here is literally saying to Ethan "I will sent you to God's home for the elderly"

Those who have the Will, seek him out. Not for the mystery. I just really want his autograph. This is my dying wish”
My whole thing about the "Mo" thing is that its probably a direct translation of kanji/Katakana used, so the English world could be completely different and that it could be the starting word of a sentence, title, name, etc so narrowing down to what he was about say specifically for that word is impossible. If it was a word pertaining to a title or name id go look for Japanese words that fit, that use the beginning letter of Mo and keep in mind Oda loves puns.
Seeing characters that haven't been relevant to the story in over 1000 chapters is the reason One Piece is the greatest, and its length only adds to the overall quality of the work. On a side note, I remember when we thought Egghead was gonna be a quick and simple(ish) arc, then everything with Bonnie, Kuma and the Gorosei happened. I do feel like we're approaching the finale of Egghead though, we'll most likely be done with Egghead before the year ends, but I can also see it ending in another month or so.
“Mo…re cowbell” D stands for the Dickinson in Bruce Dickinson, legendary record producer. The void century was caused by the fallout on how much cowbell
When Oda said(in an SBS) if the strawhats were a family, Franky'd be the dad, Jimbei hadn't joined for a long time. Brook is an easy grandpa and Frankey was the next oldest so i think that's where Oda came from
You did not consider Franky dad? Franky builds kids cool toys, talks/moves like a robot, makes wacky hairstyles, and sings stupid songs to make "his kids" laugh. Even in Water 7 before the straw hats he picked people up off the streets and took them in. He made them part of the 'Franky Family' so that they wouldn't feel alone. He makes a huge effort to be a father-figure to those who never had one because he knows what it feels like to be abandoned. Franky is the most attentive to the feelings of the Crew mates never has anything to prove and only just acts as support the crew both as a character and his role as shipwright.

I think what Vegapunk was going to say was: "To those scattered throughout the word who bear the name of D, within you is someone who is prophesied to save us". Or something along those lines.
we started with roger's speech at the gallows that kicked off the current great age of piracy, then whitebeard reaffirming the one piece is real and reigniting that drive to find it, and now vegapunk's speech. how will the world react this time?
The Jump translation uses “within” while other translations have “among” in Vegapunks last statement. So with among, it could give information about why Teach is weird, or with within it could be what you said about them having the destine to oppose to the world government.
i’m still super interested in york’s statement about the timeline of events. when vegapunk recorded the message, how he realized lulusia was gone and THEN collected data to predict the earthquake, how he took the precautions of hiding the transponder snail in the iron giant, all while allegedly not know that york was the traitor (since by her words he couldn’t have been acting when she did the reveal to him). i feel like there’s still one piece (lol) of the puzzle that we’re missing here also at about 9:00 there’s a clear gesture for what’s supposed to be an edit to put a panel on the side but it looks like it slipped through the editing process so instead it’s just really funny LMAO

Strawhat figures with elbaf outfits releasing this autumn, so there is no way its not ending by the end of the summer. Personally I think 3-5 chapters left.
Happy Monday Merphy. Nice coverpage of Yamato, Cat Viper, and Hygoro. We get a cameo appearance of Mount Blanc Cricket, Masira, and Shoujou on the Grandline. At the navy hospital, we get to see Koby, Helmeppo, Hibari, Prince Grus, and the rest of Navy as Koby Kenbunshoku Haki making it hard for him to think. As we see Drake in the hospital bed. As we get another cameo of Smoker. As Zoro and Jimbe fight Saint Ethanbaron V Nusjuro. Vegapunk is ready to say his last message. Saint Marcus Mars found the Iron Giant. Vegapunk bring up those who have the D as their middle name (Luffy, Garp, Ace, Dragon, Law and Black Beard). As Saint Topman Warcury attacked the Iron Giant. As the signal stopped as it appeared, it was over. But anyway I hope you have a lovely day. Stay safe, take care and stay amazing.
my theory is that he was going to say "within you there is a... piece of the eternal flame." it was the entire focus of vegapunks speech to begin with. the original flame was abused to power an anicent weapon and sink the world. it needed to be stopped. clearly, joyboy cant extinguish it, its eternal. so instead, he broke it into pieces and gave it to random trusted people to carry it on. if the eternal flame is made from joyboy himself, then it would make sense that when a D clan member dies and that piece of joyboy leaves their body, they would smile since thats what joyboy is all about. and then the flame would pass to the person who "inherited their will" next.
It's been sixteen 16 years since Robin asked Rayleigh about the "Will of D" and the Void Century. This was in Chapter 507, released July 2008. To this day we know nothing. That tease was unnecessary.
In chapter 1067, Vegapunk does mention that the iron giant ran out of power before he could cause any damage in Marijoa. The elders, if they were alive back then, probably didn't even need to fight it. The World Government at th time did order it to be destroyed, but scientists at the time were so curious about it that they preserved it through the ages
Yes, in this OP manga chapter there are plenty of wholesome panels (some of my favourites are around the marines, including Tashigi, Smoker, X-Drake and Koby) 😍💖🌊
"We see Drake just sittin' there... pulling a Dragon." It's great how you've embraced the meme/agenda part of the fanbase. You doing the "monkey banging cymbals together" motion when trying to think of Pearl's name killed me.
10:10 Franky is not the dad of the group. Franky is the fun uncle. Will keep the kids from doing anything *lethally* stupid, but mostly wants them to push his nose.
Agreed, looking at everyone's reaction and Vegapunk's way of saying it. It seems like Vegapunk is referring to something that all of the D people have within each of them, so I don't think he's trying to say "within you there is a mole" or something like that, if that's his intention I think he would say "among you" instead. It must be something so significant that can cause huge chaos for the WG, definitely a key for defeating Imu or something.
In another 1117 commentary, the narrator mentioned that the final Japanese letter spelled out 'mo', which was also the title of the chapter, so the final statement which was interrupted was "...who bear the name 'D': Within you, there is mo..." Oda likes to mess around with English and Japanese, so it's probably a word that starts with the same diphthong mo, and probably has a similar meaning in both languages.
Just a correction on the linguistic side: a diphthong is defined as a double vowel, like "ie" or "ou". Nitpicking aside, I do agree that it may play out like this.
How could there be a "traitor" among the D clan??? It's not like they're any sort of unified force. They're not on a team... That wouldn't make any sense at all...

Strawhat figures with elbaf outfits releasing this autumn, so there is no way its not ending by the end of the summer. Personally I think 3-5 chapters left.
Again, praise my goat, Zorro and my favorite elder star Ethan my goat we out here
yeah we for sure reach the end of egghead this year, I agree with very soon, August makes sense to me

00:16 7 chapters max
my theory is that he was going to say "within you there is a... piece of the eternal flame." it was the entire focus of vegapunks speech to begin with.
the original flame was abused to power an anicent weapon and sink the world. it needed to be stopped. clearly, joyboy cant extinguish it, its eternal. so instead, he broke it into pieces and gave it to random trusted people to carry it on. if the eternal flame is made from joyboy himself, then it would make sense that when a D clan member dies and that piece of joyboy leaves their body, they would smile since thats what joyboy is all about.
and then the flame would pass to the person who "inherited their will" next.
It's been sixteen 16 years since Robin asked Rayleigh about the "Will of D" and the Void Century. This was in Chapter 507, released July 2008. To this day we know nothing. That tease was unnecessary.
The iron giant is powered by luffy’s awakening, that’s why it didn’t fight back against the elders, it was Off
That Zoro artwork is gorgeous, just like him😊
12:53 bookmark for me thx
In chapter 1067, Vegapunk does mention that the iron giant ran out of power before he could cause any damage in Marijoa. The elders, if they were alive back then, probably didn't even need to fight it. The World Government at th time did order it to be destroyed, but scientists at the time were so curious about it that they preserved it through the ages
Yes, in this OP manga chapter there are plenty of wholesome panels (some of my favourites are around the marines, including Tashigi, Smoker, X-Drake and Koby) 😍💖🌊
"We see Drake just sittin' there... pulling a Dragon."
It's great how you've embraced the meme/agenda part of the fanbase.
You doing the "monkey banging cymbals together" motion when trying to think of Pearl's name killed me.
That Zoro art is siiiiiiiick
10:10 Franky is not the dad of the group. Franky is the fun uncle. Will keep the kids from doing anything *lethally* stupid, but mostly wants them to push his nose.
Agreed, looking at everyone's reaction and Vegapunk's way of saying it.
It seems like Vegapunk is referring to something that all of the D people have within each of them, so I don't think he's trying to say "within you there is a mole" or something like that, if that's his intention I think he would say "among you" instead.
It must be something so significant that can cause huge chaos for the WG, definitely a key for defeating Imu or something.
In another 1117 commentary, the narrator mentioned that the final Japanese letter spelled out 'mo', which was also the title of the chapter, so the final statement which was interrupted was "...who bear the name 'D': Within you, there is mo..."
Oda likes to mess around with English and Japanese, so it's probably a word that starts with the same diphthong mo, and probably has a similar meaning in both languages.
