Sunday was a really busy day for me, so I filmed this video before my artist was able to give me her art piece(s) so I wasn't able to talk about them specifically in the video itself, so I want to give them some recognition here My artist sent me TWO art pieces again (she won't do this every time), the first one, Kuma is reaching down to his daughter, his vision not coming through right because of the injuries he's fighting through, and yet still, he looks at her and sees his little girl as the child he's raised (in image two), the little girl that she'll always be in his eyes. Kuma is the best dad, and I love the way Tissine showed his perspective in these art pieces 😭
Some believe stories are just our imagination tapping into another real universe alternative...so all these stories if believable and well done enough can be happening somewhere lol...
The self destruct did work which is why it was brought up. He's still moving because of whatever Buccaneer trait Vegapunk was beginning to explain but Oda cut him off.
Saturn didn't notice Vegapunk doing anything he wasn't told to do because Vegapunk followed orders. He did add a self destruct, it was just a shut down mechanism instead of a bomb. Plus he never added the consciousness switch which is what Saturn said he'd know was there if it was added. Yes yes
It's insane how Oda can introduce a character so long ago, yet create such amazing backstories to relate to the main context this late is incredible writing
I feel like Kizaru is gonna have his Garp moment. Like what would he do or choose, save his friends or do his job as marine Also, Kizaru isn't gonna betray Saturn right away. I feel like, there's gonna be some moment that he will finally choose on what he stand. Protecting his friends is gonna matter to him but at the end of the day, he is still gonna be a marine
This chapter had everything. EVERYTHING !!!! Saturn getting punched to kingdom come. Bonney hugging her dad and telling her about what she saw in the memories. The crew protecting this precious moment. And the Buster Call to cap it all off. What a time to be alive...
I might get a variation of " I know shes a drawing shut up" as a tattoo because thats one piece anime and books in such a great quote. LOVE you and the whole Merphy family happy new year
I am so so glad you started doing weekly chapter reviews instead of just doing them on break weeks. Your insights into these chapters make me appreciate them so much more than you can imagine!
About Kuma’s emotions: it’s also possible he is just not allowing himself to relax until Bonney is safe. Maybe the tears wait until ass-kicking time is over, although I could see it being the way you said too Also: new theory is that Kuma will Paw-Paw the Sunny to Elbaf with everyone on it, but will stay behind to be buster called dramatically.
I said kuma was gonna paw paw the ship and got BLASTED Lmaoo “No Luffy is gonna win, we’re in the final saga we literally can’t lose” People think the goal of the arc was to defeat someone, no it’s to escape with vegapunk. If Saturn still stands and the island burns it can still be a win for the straw hats.
The self destruct explanation was needed because, the theme of this arc was that living things follow their instincts and can't be controlled. However, destroying them is entirely different. That's why Saturn asked Vegapunk to install such a mechanism in Kuma to be fail proof. But to his surprise what Vegapunk did was install a shutdown button instead. Now what Kuma did was out of sheer will power probably and he still can't control his body as it has been shutdown
11:00 "The minks run free" is something to be said in quotation marks. They live in a moving place you can't go without a vivre card from someone already there, and they rarely leave it. But when they do, they get the same treatment as a Fishman, basically, they were also listed in Disco's pricelist back in Sabaody (albeit cheaper, guess Celestial Dragons are more scaley than furry), they are allies with Wano, and they were allies with this Ancient Kingdom as well. I think they only "run free" because they don't run around
What I find especially beautiful in Bonney experiencing Kuma‘s memories is not only did she manage to find out what Kuma did for her all these years, she even got to know what kind of person her mom was, whom she never got the chance to meet herself. Wonderful stuff! ❤️
I really hope that the anime does this justice and animates it like when Luffy punched charlos and punched him so hard, he brought him back to the manga
OHHH MERPHY HAVE I MISSED YOUUU, the last I’ve watched a video of you was like from two years ago and I bought the book Night Circus yesterday and the first thing that came to my mind was YOUUU. Glad your into something new now your into ONE PIEEECE
I like that this arc began with Lilith not being able to suppress the innate nature of a shark and now we’ve got vegapunk unable to suppress the innate nature of kuma
I mean, she did start to see her life as a curse and just wanted to die feeling this pressure of guilt when saturn was holding her up. Thank god that mentality didnt last long
The soul is what makes the person. We saw this at thriller bark. That no matter what happens u cannot take away free will completely. If Cindry can remember herself, i believe Kuma can as well.
Feeling "like two chapters combined" is the standard film serial formula. Resolve previous cliff hanger, progress story, end on new cliff hanger... that's how you get people to keep coming back when you're presenting a movie in parts.
Given people having a theory that St. Saturn has the ability to rewind time which is why people are frozen by his mere presence and if Saturn is indeed a demon I believe this demon will be named Chronozon a demon in occult writings linked with chaos but also to Chronos the greek god of time and farming.
We have a contender for "Most satisfying punch in manga history" Damn was that epic, and so, so deserved. Then the emotional reunion and just..... damnit Oda..... never stop being able to play our emotions like this!
Whohoo! I finally caught up and can watch these again! I started watching anime years ago, took a break for a few years and enjoyed your reviews up until you caught up to where I was in the anime. Now with egghead and the high risk of major ending spoilers I am going to try to keep caught up until the end!
Bawled again because of that Bonney and Kuma conversation, thanks a lot, Oda-san. The art work the artist did looks so beautiful and heart wrenching. Great job ❤ Also, I'm with you, Merphy. If that swamp thing actually perished during the buster call, I wouldn't actually see that as a bad thing.
I am always amazed that 1104 chapters in, Oda will introduce more mysteries while giving us SOME answers to already existing ones. I am left pulling my hair out at times, but damn does this make me want to back every week. I am wondering as someone who has read so many books Merphy, have you ever come across another author that does this consistently through the entire plot, wven close to the end?
I think it would be awesome catharsis if Robin got a shining moment of taking down the Buster Call herself. Doing the very she was accused of when she was eight to defeat the fear that had paralyzed her at Water 7.
20:37 Kizaru would never betray the Government because he and many characters embody the SAMURAI spirit still. they swore on their Honor to serve! that means more to them than their life. this is the Bushido Way. think back to Bellamy following Doffy even though Doffy oredered him killed.
Implicit bias. She wouldn't have doubted him if he was a cute hamster. But because he's a "dirty" rat, she immediately thought the worst. #Ratlivesmattertoo
Saturn is an action figure with too many limbs being played with by an angry child, getting hit so hard in the face his arm comes off and then you have to put it back on to keep playing.
I was thinking Saturn knew the Revolutionaries would try rescue Kuma and when they did he would push the self destruct button and blow Kuma and Revolutionaries. I truly love you and all of your channels ❤
I think, if Kizaru is going to turn, he’s due one more big moment. He shouldn’t switch sides offscreen, it should be a full scene where he has to make his decision. Most likely when he finally gets his hands on Vegapunk.
in kizaru's case, im seeing garp in him right now.. he's garp when ace is about to be executed.. they dont want to do it, but they are still doing their job because its their job, and thats why im pretty sure the flip is going to happen when somebody dies on egghead right now like garp flips when akainu deals with ace
I’m personally not convinced that Kuma is ok/ still has his memories (even though all I want is for him to be ok). To me is seems like the flash of memories is more a flash of his base will that can’t be fully over written. So the way I’ve interpreted it is that Kuma was willing to take all this on for Bonney’s sake, but his base will was still intrinsically tied to the injustices he has experienced at the hands of Saturn his whole life. So when the “self-destruct” was flipped on and his body, that was already free from his own thoughts and actions, all that was left was a unending desire to track down and execute justice upon Saturn, the man who tormented his family, himself, and his people at large. This finally made some things make sense to me. I’ve been wondering all arc why now of all times Kuma was seemingly acting out his own will again, cause if it was something he could’ve done all along why did it take the revolutionaries grabbing him. But once the switch was pulled, unlike what I’ve seen a lot of people saying regarding him tracking and going to Bonnie, it seems like he was tracking and going to Saturn. Not to say he’s not doing what he’s doing for his daughter, cause I’m sure that it’s about ending the man who still wants to end his daughter, but why else would he go right to the home of the world nobles. It really seems like the switch was pulled, he went to find and beat down Saturn at the capital, then somehow sensed him relocate to the summoning circle on egghead, and headed there for the punch. Anyway I always love your more character/ theme focused approach to discussing this story! Keep up the good work and I can’t wait to enjoy the rest of this arc with you and your community!
Saturn and Kizaru could fight during the buster call because it can't damage Kizaru and Saturn can just regenerate any damage. It could become an environmental hazard for the Strawhats of Oda wants to go that route
Small thought: make a video about literature in the OP world itself. Like: Noland’s lie book, Sanji’s family’s comic book, The devil fruit encyclopedia, the medicine book that chopper had in the past. This is what I can remember of the top of my head.
It is very possible that this might not end up happily for Kuma and Bonney....so this punch was so needed. Saturn might recover, but he bled and he got humbled....Saturn felt that! And I felt that the chapter was too short, it just flew by too quickly!
You say Sakazuki won't have a change of heart, but I can't shake this feeling that there will be an unbelievable team up against the Celestial Dragons up to and including the marines the Black Beard Pirates.
The self destruct button was stated in the chapter by vegapunk that he didn’t want to put a bomb inside him because when the government was through with him he knew they’d use Kuma as a walking suicide bomb, so he made the “self-destruct” instead turn off all the cybernetics inside Kuma and make him go into a vegetative state where he could not be used at all so he technically kept up his side of the bargain. The reason for this in the story has yet to be seen but Oda wants Kuma in this coma state for some reason, and him moving at all was the miracle cause he should just be a heap on the ground after Saturn pressed the button. :3
merphy: "The minks live free." meanwhile the minks live on the back of accient elephant that's been damn to walk the world since the void century in the one piece equivalant of the bermuda triangle. "yeah sounds free to me."
Sunday was a really busy day for me, so I filmed this video before my artist was able to give me her art piece(s) so I wasn't able to talk about them specifically in the video itself, so I want to give them some recognition here

Kuma is the best dad, and I love the way Tissine showed his perspective in these art pieces 😭
LInk to the artist??
the second image actually made me tear up 😭
More one piece content movie 6 openings and endings.
"I want that for this little girl. I know she's a drawing, shut up" Same!!! I love Bonney
Omg u watch Murphy too! Booktubers who like one piece solidarity ig
The characters may be fictional but the connection we have with them is real
You two are some of my favorite One Piece Reviewers. I can't wait to see the next chapter and your reaction to it.
please do collab😅
Oda keeps making every direct hit on a celestial dragon more and more satisfying.
Boy, when I saw Bonnie hugging Kuma and telling him about her mum, those lost letters and that he's the kindest man ever, that hit me hard 😭🌊
Oda making me tearbend again
Same here 😭
"I know she's a drawing, shut up!"
LMAO, that's definitely a mood with this series 😭
And that’s how we felt about a drawing of a boat!
Some believe stories are just our imagination tapping into another real universe alternative...so all these stories if believable and well done enough can be happening somewhere lol...
Merphy just wants Kizaru to be a traitor because she doesn't want Caribou to be the saviour of yet another arc and I respect that
i don’t. SWAMP NAKAMA UNITE
Caribou is just a plot device and has been since for over a decade.
Merphy ain’t beating the rat allegations
I loved the details that
God of science is fighting against the products of science
The literal light guy wants to be in darker place.
I got the satisfaction from the punch AND the emotional deliverance from the hug between Kuma and Bonney. 10/10 chapter, what more can you ask for
Kizaru mentioning he should've brought a darker pair of shades and getting emotional gave me chills!
I think that the barrier holding Kuma’s emotions back is the fact that he’s actually already dead.
He’s moving on will alone rn. IMO.
This is the most i have ever seen a cover page talked about (in general not just Murphy) and honestly i am here for it. It's a good cover page.
I saved it on my phone . For some reason this was one of the best cover pages .
Works better when you consider sanji's past and how he loves mice and got it taken from him by papa@@Crybaby-Media
The self destruct did work which is why it was brought up. He's still moving because of whatever Buccaneer trait Vegapunk was beginning to explain but Oda cut him off.
Probably unrelated to whatever weight he previously said a soul has.
Yes yes
robin buster call mega survivor
She can’t keep getting away with this
😂😂😂 you can't stop her. You can only hope to contain her
Something that was lost in the translation: Kizaru usually drags out his words but he does it way less in the recent chapters.
Kizaru: "Oh well, it's over"
Me: What do you mean by that? 🤔🙄🤣
Kuma punched one of the five elders, who has in turn declared his intent to eradicate everyone there.
It's insane how Oda can introduce a character so long ago, yet create such amazing backstories to relate to the main context this late is incredible writing
I feel like Kizaru is gonna have his Garp moment. Like what would he do or choose, save his friends or do his job as marine

This chapter had everything. EVERYTHING !!!!
Saturn getting punched to kingdom come. Bonney hugging her dad and telling her about what she saw in the memories. The crew protecting this precious moment. And the Buster Call to cap it all off.
What a time to be alive...
That mice in the cover page is Chuji from Wano. The one with the girl that slaps Sanji
" I know she's a drawing, shut up" best quote from a manga fan.
I might get a variation of " I know shes a drawing shut up" as a tattoo because thats one piece anime and books in such a great quote. LOVE you and the whole Merphy family happy new year
Please dont. God knows how hard people will misunderstand that without context
I am so so glad you started doing weekly chapter reviews instead of just doing them on break weeks. Your insights into these chapters make me appreciate them so much more than you can imagine!
19:25
here's the thing... he sent Franky AWAY, and he didn't need to. I think he did that to get them away from Saturn so they could escape
My thoughts as well.
About Kuma’s emotions: it’s also possible he is just not allowing himself to relax until Bonney is safe. Maybe the tears wait until ass-kicking time is over, although I could see it being the way you said too
Also: new theory is that Kuma will Paw-Paw the Sunny to Elbaf with everyone on it, but will stay behind to be buster called dramatically.

People think the goal of the arc was to defeat someone, no it’s to escape with vegapunk. If Saturn still stands and the island burns it can still be a win for the straw hats.
I really loved kizaru last line about dark glasses 🥶 got me chills
Kizaru is so unpredicatable and mysterious lol, thats why I find him so fascinating
some youtube call his justice is Unclear Justice, not like Aokiji's Lazy justice or Absolute Justice of Akainu.
Kizaru be like: "how can my enemies know my nect move if even I dont know it"
The self destruct explanation was needed because, the theme of this arc was that living things follow their instincts and can't be controlled. However, destroying them is entirely different. That's why Saturn asked Vegapunk to install such a mechanism in Kuma to be fail proof. But to his surprise what Vegapunk did was install a shutdown button instead. Just a reminder that Goda made up the supernovas on short notice, Bonney and Law being two of them. He's too good.
If spider gramps (Saturn) is going to be obliterated by the buster call, that would be a fitting irony, heh 😏😁🤣
There is a giant spider, burn down the whole island!
This is why i love book-tubers reviewing one-piece. You bring such a new perspective
11:00 "The minks run free" is something to be said in quotation marks. They live in a moving place you can't go without a vivre card from someone already there, and they rarely leave it. Wonderful stuff! ❤️
I want Kizaru to stay unclear until the very end
Caribou's moist undulating swamp mass engulfed Luffy and snuck him away to be fed to satisfaction.
You're welcome.
I really hope that the anime does this justice and animates it like when Luffy punched charlos and punched him so hard, he brought him back to the manga

You will likely not see this but thank you for your positive outlook/approach. You and tekking101 make me happy. Thank you for being awesome!

Robin's 3rd Buster call (4th with the one in Stamped)
Whohoo! I finally caught up and can watch these again! I started watching anime years ago, took a break for a few years and enjoyed your reviews up until you caught up to where I was in the anime. Now with egghead and the high risk of major ending spoilers I am going to try to keep caught up until the end!
You were off the rails today with names haha! But you've hyped me up again now, can barely wait for this weeks chapter.
Kizaru is gonna act like Aokiji when he let Robin go off Ohara.
I've watched many many anime and read quite a bit of manga, but this Kuma's punch is THE BEST PUNCH OF ALL TIME that I've see so far..!!
Bawled again because of that Bonney and Kuma conversation, thanks a lot, Oda-san.
The art work the artist did looks so beautiful and heart wrenching. Great job ❤
Also, I'm with you, Merphy. If that swamp thing actually perished during the buster call, I wouldn't actually see that as a bad thing.
Nah still cant forget how BB tryna hit on bonney in the past😂
13:23 gosh, you're gonna make me cry again for her
23:44: Actually it's not a bad theory. I think using Kuma's power to get out the island is their best option.
Oh , just the right thing to listen to while I draw my Caribou fanart 😊
That punch was powered by pure Dad Energy!
I think this chapter officially makes the buccaneers my prime suspect for who created the devil fruits
Kuma hit Saturn in the face so hard his ARM came off! like how in the hell do you do that??
She acts like she's a hater, but you ever notice Merphy go a single video without mentioning Caribou? *Didn't think so*
I think Kuma is the father Oda wants to be. I also think he fears actually being more like Yasopp.
Idk if anyone’s ever said before, but you have really good taste in music. 😊
Kuma Felt everything to the bone!!! and the Memories were ingrained. lol
Well, it seems like it's time for Caribou to pull up his sleeves and get some work done!
Kizaru's getting infront of Saturn, somewhat reminds me of Loki's faint infront of Thanos,in Avengers:Infinity War.
20:37 Kizaru would never betray the Government because he and many characters embody the SAMURAI spirit still. they swore on their Honor to serve! that means more to them than their life. this is the Bushido Way. think back to Bellamy following Doffy even though Doffy oredered him killed.
I also think the self destruct/shutdown, even in offscreen, is also just a simple plot device to further emphasize "Vegapunk, you traitor!"
I was so thrilled Bonney got to know Kuma was writing to her.
That punch was better than Luffy and Charlos
I dont like the implication the rat couldn’t of save up for the ring at his rat job
Implicit bias. She wouldn't have doubted him if he was a cute hamster. But because he's a "dirty" rat, she immediately thought the worst. #Ratlivesmattertoo
@@_Gullible_ internalized ratphobia
Saturn is an action figure with too many limbs being played with by an angry child, getting hit so hard in the face his arm comes off and then you have to put it back on to keep playing.
Kizaru did the Nika dance with them, I MUST believe he will eventually give us a hand.
I was thinking Saturn knew the Revolutionaries would try rescue Kuma and when they did he would push the self destruct button and blow Kuma and Revolutionaries. I truly love you and all of your channels ❤
The double page of Kuma punching out Saturn is currently my desktop image on my computer. 👏👏👏
God that punch felt SO good
"Dont talk to me about caribou" BUT IT WAS HIM!!!
I think, if Kizaru is going to turn, he’s due one more big moment. He shouldn’t switch sides offscreen, it should be a full scene where he has to make his decision. Most likely when he finally gets his hands on Vegapunk.
I hope he can say 1 or 2 words before dying
in kizaru's case, im seeing garp in him right now.. he's garp when ace is about to be executed.. they dont want to do it, but they are still doing their job because its their job, and thats why im pretty sure the flip is going to happen when somebody dies on egghead right now like garp flips when akainu deals with ace
I love the dagummits LoL
Don't care if everyone will call you a tyrant
For me your the most gentle and cool dad in whole world
This line of bonney hit me really hard
I never thought my thoughts on borsalino kizaru and Bellamy the hyena would ever be comparable, but here we are
Woww, just because their mice you assume the ring is stolen.
It's 2024, I thought we were past this!
That's also the name of Wax's Gun from Mistborn Era 2 ;)
It is very possible that this might not end up happily for Kuma and Bonney....so this punch was so needed. Saturn might recover, but he bled and he got humbled....Saturn felt that!
And I felt that the chapter was too short, it just flew by too quickly!
8:45 Charlos 2.0 was definitely amazing
Bonney in that one panel is literally 🥺
Its so nice of Oda to signal to us when the climax is.
Don't worry. Caribou will be the real MVP of this arc and join the Strawhats.
I want Merphy to do the "looks down upon you so much she looks up" pose.
You say Sakazuki won't have a change of heart, but I can't shake this feeling that there will be an unbelievable team up against the Celestial Dragons up to and including the marines the Black Beard Pirates.
The reason for the flashback at the start is cause it is literally going through kumas head as he throws the punch.
merphy: "The minks live free."

"yeah sounds free to me."
Kizaru giving Merphy season 2 Zuko flashbacks. 😂
Caterina and Lafitte are gonna fight the buster call while the Strawhats escape on a rocket to the moon
Robin about to become the only person to survive 3 Buster Calls.
When they animate the punch it better be in black and white
