  • I searched on youtube and could not find any repair videos on the old style Thumper Massagers...part number 1000 (black) or 1000D (white). I have had this one apart at least 5 times in the past and thought I would share some ideas on what I have learned. I have nothing to do with the Thumper company located in Ontario Canada. I do not repair these and sorry I cannot accept any calls to assist you. I am not a appliance repair guy, I am a muscle car guy with some common sense that I have applied to making this massager last longer and work properly. If I helped you at all, please click on the LIKE button. If you have any suggestions or comments or find any mistakes that I made, please respond in the comments below. thank you. If you need to contact the manufacturer their phone number is 800-848-6737 and their email address is: info@thumpermassager.com
Watch until the very end since I have added on short video updates to the main one. I also covered how to change the switch for $6.00 at Lowes Hardware.

at the point of splitting the case. 6 identical phillips head, removed. Are there a couple of torx still there? Cannot really see clearly. Thumper Maxi Pro... Wish I knew about the rebuild option, have now gone through 4 of them including the original black one you repaired. Excellent vid!!!

Mine broke down when the grommet at the end of the piston/shaft broke down after many years. Is it possible to repair without removing the drive assembly from the motor shaft? Remove the spring holding the rocker arm to access the rocker arm. The piston can be pushed through the rocker arm. Clean off what is left of the id of the grommet from the piston. Clean off the remainder of the grommet from the rocker arm. Find a replacement grommet(there are thousands) with correct elasticity/hardness, id, od, thickness. Force on to piston while rocker is still in correct assembled position. Replace rocker arm.

I am going down this exact rabbit hole. The exact material for the grommet is the most difficult isse, The size is 1 1/4 x 3/8 with a center hole. If you have solved this problem or made progress do tell...

the rubber donut is the most common failure point, would be great to be able to just replace the donut and not the whole assembly, surely one could find a suitable part, I will attempt to solve this problem

Have you had any success replacing the donut? I'm working on a Thumper where this appears to be the failure mode. The motor, fan, and drive are working fine, but the drive rod is just moving freely up and down inside the metal cross piece without causing any tipping/thumping. -Tom

@@TLMuse yes, I have the donut part, as the vid illustrates Thumper sells it (I paid less than this guy) and have it on my repair list The replacement has a few tricky bits as illustrated in the Vid, have not actually done it. The donut is not available as stand alone part, have gone down that rabbit hole but do not know the exact material they use, but if I did the sizes are available and it would make the repair cheaper and much easier.

@@Mau105 Thanks for the quick response! I've already emailed Thumper about the part; I guess they'll just tell me they don't sell just the donut/grommet. 8-( I appreciate knowing your experience. Good luck with your repair!

quite odd that the fan is that fragile, meaning cheaply made, Not even necessary to take that half of case off to replace drive assembly
