Also, remember this game was low in attendance numbers because the date was moved to Mid-November due to scheduling issues. The game was also played early in the day. This game is traditionally a night game. There were many factors involved that contribute to the low numbers.
Boombox did used to have the VET packed though but this year was odd probably because of the game being late in the season and jsu football team not winning as much now they just tailgate if the team not winning
You probably dont care but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost my login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me!
This is kinda a sad sight. I remember the good ole days this game always SOLD OUT weeks in advanced. We used to always get our ticket over the summer for the game when i was a kid which was not that super long ago. Also for many of us the game in Jackson was always one of the highlights of the year and more fun than having it in BR b/c it was more people and space for tailgating ... and speaking of TAILGATING ... THE BEST TAILGATING EXPERIENCE WAS ALWAYS IN JACKSON FOR THE BOOMBOX CLASSIC!!!! I sometimes wonder if it will ever go back to BoomBox Classic glory days b/c this here is only a fraction of what it was 10+ years ago
@@w1hines The last really good sold out one I remember was 2003. I know they raised the ticket prices so I'm gonna assume that's the biggest reason for the change. B/c black people still love football, HBCU bands, and tailgating ... that has never changed.
@@grayscar05 Whites raise ticket prices and do not complain. But the minute it is for us, we are crying. I support VSU/VUU every year no matter if ticket prices are raised.
@@w1hines Well on average we make significantly less compared to white people due to years of systematic racism and discrimination. Last to get hired, first to get fired, and we get paid lower with the same qualifications as white folk almost everywhere. And couple that with the cost of living and college going up, most black people just don't have it to spend $50+ per game (parking cost nowadays too, used to be free). The Bayou Classic, Magic City Classic, and a few others continue to go very strong but the Boombox Classic has taken a notable hit but the attendance is still strong tho.
@@w1hines Also I should mention that 20 years ago a lot of these games were not televised live or at all. Now they are so that has cut down on stadium attendance a little bit too.

The attendance was still great for FCS schools, I grew up in an era that had every Boombox sold out that's all. Weird not seeing a sold out game.
There was over 40,000 people at this game according to the attendance data so the attendance wasn’t low at all

I like day games. Gives people more post game options

Great work Alex! I've got my fingers crossed for some 2005 or 2006 games!
I will look to see if I have any more.

A lot of our HBCU Sports is like this. Back in the day, this game was standing room only!
