Thanks for a clear and easily understood walk-through on this process. I installed one of these radios a while back, but haven't played with APRS. While it doesn't seem terribly useful for me, I might experiment a bit now.
I know Im randomly asking but does anyone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account??

I can find loads of information on how to send a text message through SMSGTE, however, nowhere explains how the other end of your transmission is handled. So you are sending a radio transmission. Where is that transmission received? How do I know if there is an SMSGTE gateway out there? Where do I find this information?

Thanks for the video. Since you do satellite APRS, can you tell me if you can manually set a path for ARISS on this radio? I only see wide1-1 and wide2-1 in your video.
I noticed something that was driving me nuts on my FTM-100 is happening on yours too. 12 seconds in it is clear you are in FM mode. After sending a message your radio is in DN mode. I am having the same trouble and have to manually switch back to FM every time I send a message. What I don’t know is if things simply will continue to work if I leave it on DN…
I had to sell the radio a few years ago, but I actually hadn't noticed it.
Just Unboxed mine. Power supply by 9:00 PM thanks no one is making videos on this nice radio. Yes for $ 1000 more there is a better one.
Hello, i have new radio. But have problem.Question.Why does not send aprs packets from yaesu ftm-100dr.
I even checked it several times.
I accept all packages.
But my station does not send. That's what I want to configure.
So APRS is an ‘all or nothing’ feature? I can’t find any documentation saying as to whether I can receive while sending out APRS beacons. It wouldn’t have taken much to design the radio to temporarily disable the APRS modem when PTT is triggered. Making this a much more useful option. Again, if this is a limitation.

Japan. Yaesu is a Japanese manufacturer, and they're one of the better ones.

If I have no fusion digital repeaters in my region can I still use the aprs text function?

Do you use this FTM100 as just a mobile APRS station or for talking as well? I’m thinking of getting one to have in the car as just a APRS station.
I use it as APRS sometimes, other times just voice. And sometimes I even pull it out to use for SAT work. I think it would work well as a always on Aprs radio.
ModernHam well I just got the go ahead from my wife to get one. I’m just gonna use it as a dedicated APRS receiver and transmitter for the car. And then I’ll have my FTM-400 for voice. Kinda overkill, but I don’t like both running on the same radio.

Why would someone want or need to send a text message with this radio? Aren't smart phones better at that type of communications?
Not if you don't have cell signal.
To get a message out when the grid is down like after a hurricane
worse than T9 entries :)
