It's funny - "hurdle" has been an action in football video games for who knows how many years (over 15, because you could do it in Madden 2004 and NFL Street), but only recently have players used it effectively in the NFL. Then again, in a game it's more to get over players on the ground and dive into the end zone, rather than to leap tackles.

Diggs's hurdle to win it in the Minneapolis miracle was the best no doubt.
You notice after they hurdle, most of times they just get knocked down immediately afterwards, because it makes them super vulnerable. A cool looking move that wins maybe a couple of yards more, but not really effective, and makes them really vulnerable to fumbles.

I understand guys getting hurdled before the first down line, since its probably worth launching yourself like a missile to try and stop him instantly - but there is rarely an excuse for getting hurdled in the backfield. Some of these guys are closing their eyes and flipping a coin on crucial tackles that they must make. Its essentially moral cowardice, and its amazing that they get away with it.
