Nice! keep on winning!☘️✨🕊️ Maybe it's a comment on our curated digi-times... But I've fallen in love with the goofy smile. That smile that escapes before your curator inside can augment it to look good. I like the authenticity of a snaggle tooth. I crave your ugly look because it's true. I crave the look on your face when you are so disarmed and selfless, that all you have to offer me is being exactly who you are. Give me that! Give me you! ✨🕊️☘️🤍✨
Haha thank you!! And… if you like ugly smiles, this video definitely shows my ugliest of smiles about halfway in 😂 I, too, commented on someone else’s super cheesy grin ❤️❤️
I absolutely love how supportive and fun you all are. I’m a bit nervous on camera still, but you make this thing way less intimidating for me. Thank you all so much for being awesome 🥹❤️
Long-time watcher, new subscriber. Loved this reaction, especially the first-hand experience talk about equipment & performing. If you liked this, as a singer/songwriter I *highly* recommend checking out another busking video that he did with Sam Thompkins titled "Ren & Sam Tompkins - Earned it /Mans World / Falling". Absolutely *stellar* vocals on display in that video. 🙏
It really is amazing. Ren, Romain, and Gorran were all individual buskers, they started jamming together for fun, and people kept asking for a band name. They stole Glenn (drums) from another group and The Big Push was formed. 😊 So much talent in this group.
Glen Chambers might disagree…though he is the glue and extremely underrated for his contributions. Ironically he wasn’t even invited to the only recording of a song that was actually about percussion🤣.🪘🪘😊
Their cover of Wade in The “Water/Nina Simone” as well as “FatBoy Slim - Praise You” will give a real feel for what they do. Oh, and also “Manu Chau - Bongo Bong
You've got to watch "Bongo Bong" and "Swan Song" (both The Big Push songs). And I can't WAIT to see you react to Ren's brand new song, "Back On 74/Message In A Bottle." Teaser: he sings some falsetto.
Oh, you are going to love the Big Push. You keep digging and you will see why many think they are the 21st century Beatles. My favorite Big Push is Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble so Hard, fantastic vocals.. You want some harmonies, try Bongo Bong and Praise You This is going to be fun.
Well done. You might like "War Pigs", a Black Sabbath cover, "Paint It Black", a Stones cover and "Watch Out", an original from them. All of these are from the same session and they are all excellent.
Love your analysis! Ren was originally the drummer for the band until they signed up Glen. Never seen a band switch instruments with each other after songs, and then switch again. And the RANGE of music they can play!! Unbelievable. You're in for a real treat!
If you want to hear one of the other band members --- Gorran Kendall -- sing, I'd recommend Paint it Black. I think Ren plays bass on that track. Also, you should check out Ren's new release -- Back on 74/Message in a Bottle Retake. It's great!
The Big Push do a great Manu Chao cover, Bongo Bong, it's such a great vid, filmed on a rooftop in Brighton. You could do War Pigs which is another song from the I shot the sheriff busking session. They're such a tight band whatever they play sounds good. They also write their own songs, I like "It's alright"
Must hear The Big Push "Bongo Bong" cover; Englishman in New York; Sting cover and the best of their originals "Swan Song"!♥ Enjoyed reaction, hoping to see these suggestions and MORE. Thank you ;) ♥ Oh and your smile is what some call "stank face" when hearing great music. Can't help it, it's a natural reaction / expression. LOL
Hi Lynzi! Great reaction ❤ Swan song , Dignity and Its alright are brilliant and i think you would like them! Looking forward to your next Ren/Big Push reaction! ❤
Wade in the water/Nina Simone/Trouble so hard and Bongo Bong are my next two favorites from them, but Patience, Dignity, and Sweet little lady are also pretty up there. They've got a long list, and it's all good, so pick your pleasure.
This quickly became my favorite band ever. The versatility and talent of each of them amaze me! And as you said, no egos. They are like the modern-day Beatles where each can hold their own. Romain Axisa (guy in black skirt) just put out his first album not long ago, which is sooooo good! He's the king of melancholy. And Gorran Kendall (on bass) just recently started putting out his own music again. And even though he's the youngest, he's like someone who time traveled from the 60s and does classic/folksy music so effortlessly. Please check them both out too.
So here's how he records. You've got the camera mic, then the mix and most of the individual mics and instruments line out into multiple cell phones, each individually recording what amounts to a multi track setup. It all gets thrown into software (I think he said Pro Tools) where he can isolate, EQ, cherry pick, and merge whatever he wants. What gets crazy is when he does one-takes with a lapel mic. Since he's moving around and turning his head, he isolates and EQs ... EVERY SINGLE SYLLABLE AND PLOSIVE... to get them to the same volume level and tone! He says his volume tracking on lapel mic vocals frequently looks like a wild zigzag, and it's not uncommon for him to have close to 80 tabs open.
thank you for reacting to this one and continuing to support my favourite artist ever he just released Back in 74 message in a bottle retake its Amazing also Bongo Bong by the big push is fire love your reactions ❤❤❤
Ren is always worth watching! Your reaction to Ren and your knowledge of music and singing is amazing! You have a beautiful singing voice and unique style yourself! Awesome reaction!!!
One of the coolest things about Ren is his ability to make whoever he is performing with shine. He enjoys collaborating, and always gives space to those he’s with. Have you heard the story of his first meeting with Sam Tompkins? There’s a video out there somewhere, showing their meeting. Sam was just singing on the street, when Ren was on his way home after his own busking session. He offered his microphone, and the proceeds, also played guitar for Sam, and immediately people started listening. It was the start of a brotherly friendship!
So I was wandering through the streets of Brighton 2-3 years ago and came across the Big Push playing - exactly where they were in this video. It might even have been the same gig. I've seen many bands in my life in all kinds of venues from the street to stadiums but I was simply transfixed when I hear them. I kept asking myself 'is this the best street band I've ever heard ... actually is this the best band I've ever heard'. It was like rambling along and stumbling on a pot of gold. I've been a gold-plated fan ever since - of the sadly defunct Big Push and now Ren - solo or with his wonderful musical mates.
The reason behind the mics, not sure if you know, but when he's indoors he uses a condenser mic used for studio vocals, you can't use one at a gig without a whole load of feedback and sound issues. I use an sm58, perfect for live gigs.
Your reactions are great. I thought it was an sm58 at first. You will love Ren's new drop- Back on 74/Message in a Bottle Retake. Amazing vocals and he's looking good too. Hope we see your reaction to that one soon.
As for Ren and the Big Push Bongo bon dont know if you seen this band Nightwish - Ghost Love Score (WACKEN 2013) and other artist Dimash Qudaibergen Kazakh singer and songwriter STRANGER (New Wave / Новая Волна 2021) best male vocalist in the world today. Nightwish has one if not the best female metal rock vocalist in the world today, not only love to see your reaction and thoughts they will drive more people to your channel
Ooooh! I grew up on Nightwish, actually! But it was the former singer. I actually got to see them live about 10 years ago with the newer singer and loooooved it. I haven’t checked out any of their newer stuff, but I’d definitely love to. Floor is a phenomenal vocalist!!
What a great reaction. Subbed!!! The Big Push has two songs that I feel don't get nearly enough love: 1) What Kind of Woman is this; and 2) Sweet Little Lady (Acoustic Live). I'd love to see you react to these as well. Edited to add: Englishman in New York has amazing harmonies and Bongo Bong is guaranteed to make your day and lift you spirits! Again, great reaction. Keep going!!
I can see it now . The wedding reception starts with the MC saying "Id like to introduce Ren and lynzi Gill! Lol Loved this one . Cant wait for the war pigs reaction
Excellent reaction Lynzi!!! Fun fact: Michael Jackson used an SM7B on Off The Wall and Thriller. I think the reason the SM58 is used so much in live performance isn't because it sounds "great". But the upper mid hump helps the vocal cut through the mix. And it's affordable for the working musician. The Beta 58 definitely has and extended high end that's great for a lot of singers.
I read that about Michael Jackson using it as well!! And honestly, that is the exact reason I bought one. But then to my dismay, I have no idea how to mix it properly 😂😂😂

The whole band is super-talented. Looking forward to hearing your reaction to War Pigs - other TBP suggestions: What Kind of Woman is This, Swan Song, Bongo Bong are all fantastic. Subbed!

I think you should go for it 😏 This was a great reaction. I don't subscribe to TH-cam channels these days, partly cause I'm subscribed to enough channels already, but also because most aren't all that good. I just subscribed to yours. I don't think I need to say anymore. Oh wait, yes I do. I didn't subscribed cause you asked me to. Never have, never will. I subscribed because of the content, and your excellent commentary. If you'd like to check out a really good music reactor, check out JustJP. I'm trying to get him to react to more Ren, but he gets a LOT of requests, so...
I think “War Pigs” might quickly move to the top of the list now with so many people suggesting it!! Thank you so much for subscribing. That means so much to me, especially for someone who doesn’t usually subscribe. I appreciate you so much! ❤

hi lynzi, love the reaction, the big push has some original songs that should be mainstream imo. i would check out "watch out" from this same day or a original music video called Icarus. As for covers they really do some justice to Englishman in Newyork, bongo bong, praise you, and the guns of Brixton . thats 6 songs i really like that are on my playlist.
Great reaction, loved your enthusiasm! Would have liked a little more vocal insight; after you went in depth on the microphone, was hoping for more detailed reactions to his high and low ranges, his vibrato, the different vocal tones for certain lines in the three different songs, the scatting. The call-and-response between his voice and guitar, how he controlled the pace for the whole band, the way he used both diverse tempos and soaring or hushed volume to affect crowd response. I know it's impossible to catch all aspects on first listen, I dont expect that of you, I just enjoy the unique insights you can bring as a musically educated reactor, and there's so much in this performance to recognize and discuss! ❤
Thank you for this comment! I’d love to go more in depth, but didn’t know if anyone would really care all that much 😂 I could talk forever about singing. I’ll definitely keep this comment in mind when I film the next batch of videos!
I'm not sure what 'harmonies' you were hearing at the beginning? It was just Ren. You'll know when they do harmonies because their harmonies are incredible! :)
I just meant the other guitar player doing the harmony on the “I shot the sheriff” line! I’m so excited to hear the more intricate harmonies the more I check out from them!!
I dont say this lightly. When thinking of the Big Push and their dynamics I think of a sprinkle of the Beatles a dash of Crisby Stills and Nash then add the spices of Ren Goran and Romaine

Keep killing it Lynzi!!!! I'd love to do a track with you someday! I'm a producer, musician, DJ, song writer just not a good singer lol
