I was doing a dart frog project over the winter... An I was extremely impressed as to how well my plants from Josh's Frog's arrived... The packaging was amazing
Dart frogs are actually really great climbers. Even the more “terrestrial” species have been found at like 4 meters up in the wild or something. They’ll straight up walk up your glass lol
Normally it's really expensive to make these vivariums. Josh's Frogs was pretty generous here. I once sold one for $700 (with the frogs) at a loss lol.
This timing couldn't have been any better! I'm currently getting supplies to set up my own dart frog enclosure. Thanks for the amazing build video Clint!
OK CLINT, FINE. I ordered a large dart frog bioactive kit from Josh’s frogs with your discount code, thanks! Can’t wait to set it up! ❤️ And yes, +1 vote for the 2 vids a week crew!

I have a second hand 36x18x36 terrarium that we set up as a dart frog bioactive.. I’ve always had planted tank aquariums and I’m hooked on these low maintenance bioactive terrariums now! I don’t know why we waited on getting one. Watching the plants grow and the animals in them are so peaceful and calming even more so, as no water changes!
The dremel DOES work well for expanding foam, but you want to do the reverse. Take out the big chunks with a knife or mini saw and then do any finer detail shaping with the dremel! Would love to see a update video after it's grown in a bit!
These vivarium builds are (arguably) my favorite videos of yours. Please keep making them! I’m getting some whites tree frogs after making a vivarium and attempting to make a built in water feature (: definitely buying everything I can for my build from Josh’s Frogs
Oh gosh!! I love this tank so much! Gonna copy the design for my next tank! I’ve been trying to figure out how to incorporate cork in a way I like and the gorilla glue was genius! Thanks!
I'd really really love to see how the builds you've done in videos have grown in, what they look like now. Could yall make a video featuring the vivaria you've built on the channel?
When the original video came out about the tincs, I spent several weeks deep diving into Josh's Frogs, lol. Between Clint, Zack over at Josh's Frogs, and Tanner on SerpaDesign, I found paladarium nirvana, lol. Bioactive substrates for the win!
I made a frog setup exactly like this video using a corner terrarium from pet smart that Clint showed on a different video. Everything worked great but the gap filller foam wasn’t great for holding the cork. Used straight gorilla glue for that. Thanks to Clint for giving me the knowledge and confidence to get started.
Hi there! Quick note about working with expanding foam. It can be hazardous! If you use a dremol or even just sand paper (anything that could produce dust) it is important to wear a dust mask and eye protection. The dust can be poisonous if ingested or inhaled.
The deemed is a great idea! I think using the long drill bit and using the flex shaft would produce the cutting action best for carving that rigid and delicate of foam.
That looks so real! You are incredibly talented on so many levels ♥️ thanks for all your wonderful contributions to the animal education world 🌎 🐍 🦎 🦕 🦖 ! You have changed so many lives ( human and animal) thank you so very much! My 10 year old son loves watching your videos with me, anytime he sees I’m on your channel he makes me restart the video and watch it with him lol
I have only just discovered your channel. I am new to Dart Frogs, as an experienced Lizard keeper i have always loved frogs, and kept some in the past such as Whites Tree Frogs, Grey Tree Frogs and couple of others. I was never brave enough to venture into Darts. But having seen some folks bioactive setups i thought why the heck not that's go for it! I have thus recently purchased the Exo Terra Tree Frog Terrarium 45x45x60 and set it up for some Dendrobates leucomelas. I don't collect these until the 11th December so have been so excited and watching various videos on how others are keeping them. I got to say I have come across your videos and found them amazing. The first was your trip to see all the various frogs in the wild and subscribed straight away. Your such a cool guy and found your videos so interesting. This video has made me wish however that I saw it before i set mine up as i love how you have used the foam and glue to make the background levels how you have. I'm hoping to get the Zoo Med Paludarium next and try doing a set up for Red Eyes with some shrimp or fish. You have given me some amazing ideas to try out for future terrariums so THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Oh my goodness, YES! If people’s personalities tend to deepen over time, the sheer delightfulness of Awesome Old Dude Clint will be an even greater gift to the world than current Clint! (Wait, is that even possible…?)
I love Josh's Frogs! I have two Pacman Frogs (Ceratophrys ornata & Ceratophrys Cranwelli/Cornuta) from them, in bioactive enclosures that I built with things almost entirely from Josh's Frogs as well! I think it would be awesome if you did a video on them, especially if your partnership with Josh's Frogs continues to be fantastic. Much love Clint!
Love your idea of levels with the cork bark, I may actually use that idea, thank you! Great video, very informative and some fun laughs. 🙂 Awesome build.
Tip: you can shape the expanding foam while it's semi cured, as you can push it with your fingers because the surface cures first. Saves a lot of time. My latest vivarium is foamless, as I used one piece of driftwood that has heaps of branches and made my own putty made out of aquasoil mixed with Coco fibre into a sturdy clay mix and made a grow wall completely up the back around the wood branches. The live sheet moss has already attached to it and is growing on in really well in less than two weeks.
so many techniques for creating a bioactive. very simple design here. cool he's got some isopod accents. lol, those frogs are eating those isopods. i hope they are prolific breeders. bio actives are like art. i like the shelves.

Wow, the coloration on those frogs is absolutely beautiful. I've never thought that I'd want to keep dart frogs before but wow, I might be changing my mind. Also that tank build is amazing, better than I could ever do.
This one turned out KILLER Clint! Third times the charm. I guess it’s a saying for a reason. Not that your last two weren’t good. They were, but I really loved the idea of making the levels from the cork half rounds. Really gave the plants a place to shine, and the frogs to visit.
I was JUST thinking about doing the foam, glue, substrate thing for my Ball Pythons terrariums (I have 4 balls). When you finished the back of the terrarium, I thought that if it was done on 3 sides it would look like it was underground, like in a termite mount. Seeing that sealed the deal, now I have to do that too!

I use expanding foam more for 3D shaping so I don’t have to cut it out later. I used the silicone to attach substrate to the background too, smoosh your substrate mix into the silicone before it dries. Mine still looks great after 5-6 years of use. I would say the only downside is it took about a week or so to cure and off-gas.
