This video was mainly an excuse to try and refine my audio production process, since a lot of my prior work has absolutely awful audio even though my equipment should suggest otherwise. I played around with recording in acoustic-treated environments and with post-production audio treatment, but it still needs work. (I think adding a de-esser to the voiceover would probably fix most of the issues, sorry if this sounds like an ASMR video!) I didn’t expect this video to do well at all, since it’s a relatively sombre topic compared to what I usually do. I’m surprised to see how moderately successful it has been. I should probably say that Video Essays aren’t necessarily what I want to do on this channel, although I do end up doing a few. Since I love the process behind media creation and all of the technical nonsense, I find video essays to be less fulfilling than some of the other stuff I have planned. Anyways, thanks for reading this. Expect more “content” (hopefully).
This was a really good analysis! People often forget that the horrible part of war is most often the scars it leaves on people, both physical and mental.
slaughterhouse-five has been my favorite book for years and years, thank u for doing it justice !!! i have a tattoo of "so it goes" to remind me that life goes on :)
Thought I was watching an established video essay channel. This is an incredibly well prepared and executed discussion of the book. Expecting this to blow up once the algorithm catches it.

Beautifully spoken, great video man!
8:04 Oh, don't worry, we're working on the glaciers. Making decent progress too.
