Anything that can vertically cut the lawn and remove thatch from time to time is a good thing. Also depends on the lawn type you are talking about. Finer leaf varieties all good. Kikuyu and buffalos don’t get groomed per se but be careful not to overdo a vertical cut (especially buffalo as no underground runners)
Hi Matt, nice video. I've got my TifTuf at 7mm currently. Having some major issues with seed stalk (not the heads). I'm mowing the seed head but I'm getting so much seed stalk still. I do a weekly kelp spray, fortnightly half-rate humic/fulvic, monthly fert, monthly soil wetter, and 10-15mm of water twice a week. I've tried to knock it back using PGR but it's still hanging around and not sure why it would be a result of stress when everything looks very green and I'm following a weekly fert/water program. I'd say the stalk has been hanging around since early December.
Those bendy stalks are tuff. The weather has been so up and down In temperatures that’s what has sent everything seed crazy. I was the same. Xmas day had it great. Didn’t PGR after Xmas knowing I was going to Reno early Jan. Just before new years, boom, seed heads went crazy. To fix it’s a few aps of pgr over the season but this has been a difficult season for most people.
Same issue with seed head and stork. Smashing the pgr but now also fighting dollar spot. Tiff tuff at 7mm too. I tried to thin it out with the scarifier attachment on the ryobi but I think next season a groomer will be the next bet. Sell the Scotty and buy a swardman with all the attachments.
