Thank you for doing this little machine justice I'm sure with a little refining it could have been a different outcome for the company (sewing machine development engineer retired) best regards James Rawson
Thanks for your interest. If you are interested to learn the whole sad history of this machine, go to the international sewing machine collectors society (ismacs) website, go to the manufactures tab- Moldacot-History of the Moldacot sewing machine. I think you will reaise that the objective of the company was not to sell sewing machines, but to raise the maximum investment capital to fund the directors life style.
Well done, I would love to see more. They could not get the Moldacot to work on "the repair shop". I have a lot of fun with very old sewing machines. One of them had me because to wind the VS shuttle bobbin you had to hand turn the machine in the opposite direction to sewing. (I think it was my Bradbury) The hand wind I like best is the JONES CS 1925 (and it can reverse stitch) it is easier to use than Singers of the same date. Nice to see some of your other machines, I did have a look at your other videos. I am currently working on a Singer 348 I only bought it because it was a lovely blue paint work with all the cams and bits. Shame it has a belt drive for the hook but everything else is metal. All the best
I'm glad you found it interesting. It's generally accepted that only the ones made in Birmingham and Manchester stand any chance of working at all. With the rest you are on a hiding to nothing. I currently have 77 old machines, and around 10 of them are still waiting for some attention, so although I would like to add more videos, my time for doing so is a bit limited. Must try harder.
THANK YOU for making a properly in-depth video about this. I can’t wait for part two. Such a good video. Well done.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Brilliant.
Thank you for recording this.
My pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it.
