Beautiful music. I love these traditional Chinese instruments and these ladies have some excellent skills. Not to mention that they are putting a nice spin on great Classical Standards
I used to know what the music was. Part of it is Beethoven's 5th symphony, part of it was Mozart's Marriage of Figaro, and I think the third part is by Rossini, but I don't remember what it's from. They blend the three so well it's like a single composition. This was the first 12 Girls Band piece I heard and I was immediately hooked.
When I first heard the music , I thougt the music was being played by eletric violins/cellos/keyboards/etc. Then, when I actually looked at the video, I realized that I was sorely mistaken. It takes real skill to play these instruments, and I praise them for their ability to do so. Their 'adaptation' of these great Classical pieces is very interesting as well. Well done Misses!
We probably repeat ourselves but we wish we had known these before! Luckily we have a sort of Chinese online shop based here in Holland and they got a 12 Girls Band dvd which we ordered today, can hardly wait till it arrives! :D :D This piece is also wonderful, also the solos. Very very nice, they shot up to one of our fave bands in less than a week! :D :D Really hope to see them perform live one day, would be amazing we guess! Have to wait and see if they come to Holland one day.
they were soooooooo good att Live Earth yesterday! I hope my chinese friend can find a CD with 12 girls band for me, (suppose I can't find it in Sweden or anywhere else in the world but China :P) becuase I really liked their performance and the music and everything! I had never heard about them before, but I hope they'll be famous now! :)
Is it anyone who knows what song they played at "Live Earth" in Shanghai 2007? Is it anyone who knows if that song can be found here at youtube, from the performance?
jajajajajajaja you are so so so smart, I'm sure no one knew that........ Off course that is what they do. music from around the world in traditional Chinise instruments
There is something missing in the erhu solos - the violin part. A violinist played along with the other girls in one of their live concerts. I think the erhu solo section sounds awkward without the violin "answering" the erhu parts to give a "conversation" sort of effect. Otherwise, I don't see anything wrong witht he arrangement.
otoevst, I don't know what makes you here and I don't think these highly talented girls are playing this song for people like you. If you do not know these ladies, you're making your comment too early on this happen to be the way you think. Just try any other songs they played, especially those originated by them, such as Miracle, Forbidden City, Carnival, Ruten. All these songs should BLOW you away!
they're awesome, great talented ,because those instruments supposed to to play Chinese traditional music only, so it's very hard to play Europe music, classical or modern .
@girishsaini Hey, I hate to say this as I'm indian too but the 12 girls Band did not copy from the Itna na Mujhse song but infact, Talat Mahmood copied from the Symphony no. 40 of Mozart, the classical music composer of 18th century. Listen to it. And the 12 Girls Band are meant to play western music on chinese instruments.

i could see myself prancing naked in the streets of Tokyo to this, while evading police and throwing chicken nuggets.
