This is all very odd. If your reviewing cars please show the actual cars more than just focusing on your faces sitting in a car or standing beside them talking about what you can see.
Great review guys, but let me give you a tip to get you better. When you talk about something that you like or dislike in the car get the camera focused on that thing, like for example: when you said you liked the alloyes on the tucson, get the camera focused on the wheels so we can see what you're talking about. Another one like the hump in the floor, get the camera on the hump while mentioning it, that goes for the sunroof, the leather seats, the digital cockpits, and everything else. Apart from this you did a great job reviewing these cars, keep up the good work
Just bought a Tucson preferred SEL AWD. I like the style. All the components work together. All the safety features you need. Lots of cargo space and the interior finish is classy. I was concerned about its performanve but am pleasantly surpised. Decent acceleration and holds the road well.
Not a fair comparison at all. There was no mention of the heads up display on Qashqai which is extremely important for many people. The HUD was the selling point for me for the Qashqai. I also personally much prefer the minimal and sophisticated design of the Qashqai compared to the busy and cheaper looking Hyundai. Hyundai is also much more expensive. Definitely Qashqai is a much better choice here for me.
Interesting the Quahqai you have seem limited as there is a 160BHP with more options on. But the Tucson is also good with the range. I think i have to with agree with the comments that Nissan drives will stick to Nissan.

good point, I think cars will follow the lead of mercedes, being simple and smooth, but with Chinese cars coming up, the far east design may still be a thing.
The Tuscon looks more spacious inside, the seats, and handling seem to make it better suited for longer journeys, whereas the Qashqai is a nippy car good for trips around town. The Tuscon offers better engine choice with more powerful engines, however, hybrid cars also weigh a lot more so this impacts acceleration and handling. The QQ ePower is out now and has 0-60 in 7.9s which is the same as Tuscon 230Hp in the video. The QQ also gives more technology for the price, electric tailgate, collision avoidance, 360 camera, auto cruise control, glass roof, HUD etc. I don't like touchscreens like on the Tuscon and particularly low set ones which are distracting, the QQ gives buttons, not as futuristic but far more practical. The Hydunai Santa Fe model has a far nicer interior layout than the Tuscon more akin to the QQ.
The look of the Nissan will hold up better. I find it funny that the Nissan is seen as the more conservative given the reaction to the mk1 in 2007, which was revolutionary. Anyway, I bought an Audi q3 sport back last Summer, my first SUV and I’ve given it 13 months but it’s not for me. No kids, so no idea what I was thinking but I can see why these cars appeal to families. I’ll be going back to a traditional saloon shortly…
All I know is I had second generation qashqai 2019 had it for over a year hated the manual on it went to go for cheaper option with the juke drove new qashqai and is so much better then previous gen soo comfortable and nice to drive ordered mine already
you need to do your home work about a car before doing a review the parcel shelf in the qashqai fits in the base of the boot and the shells slide in neatly above it,very useful
Is the Qashqai better in fuel economy? My personal preference is the Qashqai as I think it should be more reliable and has less issues specially with the gearbox. Do you agree?
I'm going with the Qashqai, will have mine in the near future. I liked Tucson a lot, but as they are quite a few already on the streets, it already looks like an old car to me. Qashqai looks way newer and fresh.
That "Reverse hybrid" system is similar to the Chevy Volt here in the U.S. But Chevy has discontinued it and is focused on BEV's. Don't know why Nissan would be putting money into "Generator" technology.
On the face of it, it does seem very counter intuitive, but I’m guessing someone has crunched the numbers and realised you get more mpg burning the same amount of petrol to run an electric motor than you would in an ICE. It’s all about efficiency, that’s how they skirt around the actual issue.
The Tucson is gorgeous on the in/out. Hyundai did fantastic on this one. The ireland's trim are missing a lot of the goodies of the ones available in Canada. Looks like a basic hybrid model, 360 camera? moonroof? ventilated seats? all the assistants. Qashqai "mild" hybrid? manual? metal rims? definitely it will attract the Nissan fans.
The Tucson is a great looking car. And unlike many, it pops in all the colours I've seen. I disagree with Sinéad about the flanks, I think it echoes the big Lexus RX and that gives it an image of quality.
Drove both cars. Can say that Tucson is packed with convinience feautres. Not great at handling or country roads. Probably no front insulation. You can hear a lot of road noise as well as feel every bump. Krell audio systems in Tucson is unbeatble. Qashqai e power is very quiet. Decent sound system. Engine is not very powerful as Tucson but drives and handles well for a family crossover. Moonroof and 360 camera for parking comes in the mid trim Qashqai, while in tucson you have to spend fortune to get the trim with sunroof.
My 69 plate qashqai tekna auto DIG-T DCT gear box is a pleasure to drive. It’s smooth and has the power when needed. Not sure how I feel about the new CTV auto gear box with less power. If you have driven, how does it compare to the DCT gear box?
The CVT gearbox is not a standard affair it has new tech and drives brilliantly with quick gear changes feeling almost like a DCT, I sell Nissan so maybe a little biased but arrange a test drive with your dealer and check it out for yourself also of course the e-power hybrid will be here very soon as well which will be far more powerful.
See you in 3 years when Tucson's fancy light will slowly begin to fade. Not to mention that they don't give a sh't about engines and gearboxes anymore, all invested in ev's (they never knew how to build them correctly). I hope Nissan improved since they got rid of Renault's garbage influence. I tried it and it feels well made compared to they're previous lemons
Hi really enjoyed your review, thank you very much, not quite sure what to think at the end as I like both cars very much and I’m trying to decide between one or the other… I’ve never had either a Nissan or a Hyundai before so I have no particular allegiance to either, but they are the right size and shape what I’m looking for, maybe I should just get a Kia Sportage 😂 only problem with that is they’re a bit expensive at the moment

Tucson is bigger, more expensive, consumes more fuel (9,8 city). 0-100 for 9,5 sec (187hp). Qashqai is smaller, cheaper, (6,6 city). 0-100 for 8,9sec (158hp). I pick qashqai! 😊
Better question is why are Kia and Hyundai lacking security protections and are easily stolen? Lawsuits are out there so buy wisely and your insurance will reflect your decisions
Great review you two however you missed pointing out the xtras and the safety aspects The Tucson is streets ahead especialy the top model however owning one id rather people choose the Qashqai as I can see the roads being flooded with Tucsons when people see what you get honestly the Range Rover Evoque has now got competition
Youd be mad to buy a Qashqai ,1.3 petrol hybrid...No towing a caravan or a decent size trailer, tuscon better options all round ,in terms of engines, I think nissan will lose out to that market in the next few years!
If the Nissan came with a diesel I'd have it but as it doesn't the Tucson would get my vote as I do alot of motorway commuting miles and so no hybrid or electric nonsense for me. I've also seen a few of both of these cars on the road and I think fussy tho'the design is the Tucson would again win. Renault are bringing out the new Kadjar next year and given that it's based on the Qashqai you drove it'll be interesting as I currently have a Kadjar 1.6 diesel what the options are there. I'm glad that at least in Hyundai's case they still welcome diesel drivers.
In the case of the Tucson, style over substance. I would never have contemplated a Qashqai, but the new model is a serious contender, with a very promising hybrid to come. Out of these two it's the Qashqai all the way.
There is one thing you are forgetting about- qashqai has cvt and tucson has torque converter. And good luck getting 230hp in qashqai. choice is obvious.
The Tucson (like is Sportage sister) is far to fussy from a styling point of view, with gimmicky details like the lights integrated into the grille. They won't age well. The Qashqai is still sharp and will age better.
I’ve had my Tucson for around nine weeks and have done around 4000 miles. It’s the most uncomfortable ride I’ve ever experienced in a car. Every bump on the road travels up your back. It’s a total bone shaker. The tech is far too clever for itself. Speed sign recognition software is all over the place. Always giving wrong information. Constant collision warnings going off and 33 mpg is the best I can get. For a 1.6 petrol mild hybrid that is terrible fuel consumption. The Bluetooth seems to only accept one device and the boot remote close on the key fob often doesn’t work. Good points? It’s stylish, roomy, and I have a panoramic roof that opens but this is my first and last Hyundai, wish I had stuck with my Honda CRV.
That’s odd. The self charging hybrid available with the current Tucson is not a mild hybrid. It is a full hybrid. Which model do you have? I know the Executive Plus model does not have a sunroof.
So you chose the N Line and think it is way too stiff. And you want low consumption and chose a mild hybrid while there is also a full HEV or PHEV. You seem to stink, choicewise. Sure you are not just a Nissan troll?
