DID Caz Caz have a plan for the ritual without Astarion? When you fight him he's very much mid-ritual and he's locked the doors to perform it and it all seems like he's going ahead with it... though maybe that was just his way of trying to get you and Assy to show up and fight him, a bit of pagentry but in reality he's just stuck waiting for you both to show up lol.
@OneWingedRose he definitely couldn't do the ritual without Astarion but he knows Astarion well enough that he would never resist the pull of his master, whatever form that may take.

Its interesting, while he's not as happy here its as though you can really just skip fighting Cazador and save it for later lore-wise.
