Planes won't be using your airport creation because you've got three airport towers and too complex runways. They are scared man. Hey +Keralis since you have 2 paralel runways, one should be 09L/27R and the other 09R/27L. Also the PAPI lights are placed beside the touchdown zone (which is not included in the airport runways mod, but is placed 1000 ft after the threshold). One more tip: big airports always have paralel taxiways in order to sort traffic and avoid jams to the gates or runways. In this case, since taxiways are one-way roads, you should place one in one side and the other heading the opposite side, both paralel to the corresponding runway. Any doubt you have or any technical advise you need, please let me know. As a commercial pilot, I'll be glad to help you. Great series btw! Love your city
Oh, I forgot 2 things: 1- stop markings are ALWAYS placed in taxiways, never in runways; 2- runways numbers are placed just ahead of the threshold, and before touchdown/PAPI
+Keralis Quick tip: Runways are numbered by what compass direction they face. For example, runway 09 faces 90 degrees on the compass, and the other side would be runway 27 because it faces 270 degrees on the compass, likewise things like runway 10 would have the opposing runway direction of 19, etc. Most airports I've seen have the PAPI system on either side of the runway, and usually extended approach lighting, as opposed to the regular. There's a great playlist I found that has videos that explain better than I can. I can't post links here, but type in the youtube search bar "Informative Airport Videos" and it should be the first playlist. Hope this helps!
Dear Keralis! Inspired by your great videos I have started a new city myself and then experienced first hand, how hard it is, to make your city not only functional but also pretty. And seeing the difference between your and my city I cannot help but to BOW TO THE MASTER KERALIS!!! Your city is simply gorgeous! And I have not even spotted a significant traffic congestion anyware... I feel like crying ;)
Runway numbers depend on there bearings, so one side in this case is 09 representing 90 degrees whereas the other side is 27 or 270 that added together is 360 (a circle)
Keralis! Make a train station around the middle and add pedestrian bridges across each of the roads leading into the airport, so the civilians can use a train station to make their way into the airport.
TheOlympic1 This is a video game, so things do not need to be efficient. Just because there is already a metro station does not eliminate the need for a train station.
+TheOlympic1 not in sweden there are two mainline train stations in Arlanda and if your after realism, a goverment woldent spend that much money for a tunnel to only one destination. Trains are the thing!
Keralis. all the planes should be able to takeoff at all the runways. also make tunnels of the 2 roads leading inside of the airport and place a taxiway on top so the planes can go to the other runways. that is also how schiphol has it!
+movieboysHD That is not possible in the game, its one way or the other. Or splitting the runways on the middle to allow them to take off both directions from the same runway.
Keralis i meant that you make a tunnel under the 2 roads to the airport and connect the first runway you made with the second and third with taxiways above the tunnel. so that you have 2 taxiways above the entrance to the airport. then the can use all the runways!
I did some minor tweaks base of your suggestions and the game mechanics. This setup seems to be working quite nice. Not perfect but it works. :p gyazo.com/13b2b5ac3b0d2581ca77fdc157670922
keralis to us avgeeks you made us rage so much this video lol but we all know your trying so were not mad at all but if you need any help or tweeks from us we are here to help
+mitchell van eldik im taking air traffic control and airport management with airport design but i had to get up and walk when he said split the runways lol but its harmless and only a game so i didnt really mind and it would help with more runways hes going to have alot of traffic
You sould do some hangars and a big logistics-center for air cargo... you probably even could move the other Kogistics center there. There are some awesome parked plane props on the Workshop ;)
runway directions depends on the most time of wind direction of the airport location. = That place always east wind, the runway will be east-west(09-27/08-26/10-28) parallel runway: L=left R=right C= centre more than 3 parallel: use close number, like original pair: 09L/09R, 3rd one can be change to 09L/09C/09R or 09L, 09R & 10
Aww, I'm up to date now, no more episodes, I've binged watched session 2 back to back, hehe. Great start to the airport. Remember ATC should be air side, perhaps in the middle of the runways. Also the parallel runways, I think, would be numbered 09L / 27L and 09R / 27R. I would create lots of maintenance and cargo hangers air side, maybe with a cargo terminal, then the other side on the fence, some industry, hotels, parking and buses. Could also create a small suburb slightly away from the airport with some "cheaper" park and ride facilities. Crawley in Britain has that for Gatwick airport. Again loving the series, so glad I've caught up so I can now take part and make suggestions. Oh and do drop off areas and lots of taxi ranks and bus stops out front. Oh and a car rental place or two some where. OK, OK I'll calm down and stop now lol.
Fantastic Vid as always +Keralis , Happy Birthday! I have been watching these from the start of season 1. What about a bus terminal- or simply an exclusive bus lane with shuttle buses to and from the city going to various locations?
Do they land in one direction all the time in RL? Otherwise, try to build a Runway "under" the existing one, so they can take of in both directions (and same for Taxiways)
Airport looks good so far. Love the diamond look. A Few suggestions: typically most airports have hotels as well as rental car stations in their vicinity. Those would be cool additions. Also, most airports have highways leading to them, not backroads, so you might want to extend a highway to the airport.
Keralis should create a massive tourist place near the stadium on the otherside of the river with a nice train station, and all the tourist buildings from the in-game. Its so cool to watch the tourists flood into the city
Great episode, please stop with the fast forward. I promise you everybody wants to watch everything you do. For me and probably everyone of your viewers we love to watch your estetic approach to City Skylines. Its like zen timeout for me. Do not worry about what your doing, just show it all, we'll be watching it all. Please never stop putting out episodes :)
Keralis, I have a confession. I fall asleep to your videos. I put one of your gameplays and just listen to your voice. It's just so soothing and calm and it just relaxes me. Like it could stop me from killing someone if you told me to.
I love how you were constantly talking about Amsterdam Schiphol, but cloned Brussels Zaventem instead, I think it looks just awesome! BTW I also love that somebody is inspired by Brussels airport for once, that was so cool!
Hey Keralis. I know you like to keep your things looking somewhat realistic but also eye pleasing. I work in the aviation industry (AME) so I thought I'd give you some info you could apply to your airport to keep the end result eye pleasing but also somewhat realistic. Forgive me the the list but I think it's easiest to keep things organized haha. 1. Runway numbers are based on headings so 27 means the runway faces 270 degrees and 09 means 90. (Just add an imaginary zero to the end). Pretty much for any future runways try to keep runways facing similar directions from having completely different numbers but it's a game so who cares if it's absolutely right :) 2. I heard you talk about sunken parking lots right next to the runways. I think it would look sweet but the end result would not look realistic and you may be disappointed Reason being is FOD (foreign object debris). If a parking lot was smack next to a runway people could throw garbage on the runway if they were assholes and risk (believe it or not) blowing up an engine. No airport would ever allow people to be so close to a runway. 3. Most international airports usually have runways that allow aircraft to land and takeoff in opposite directions at all times. For example if you had a runway facing North (00 or 36) there would also be a runway dedicated to facing South (18). This is because wind changes dorection. Many times these runways are handled by a single runway so you end up with a runway with different numbers on each end. When you get into detail work I figure you might be interested in that for symmetry or something. 4. Taxiways are usually designated a name or route. these are those yellow or white small signs you see in the grass when your taxiing around with numbers on them. Another thing you might like to mess around with when detail working. 5. Going back to the sunken border runway idea. You will really never see this in real life because of the risk of a missed or emergency situation. If the plane had just the runway to land on and it were misaligned then the plane is screwed. Might detract from realism and give you an end result you're not happy with. Overall it's looking great just thought that with your creativity you might like to apply some of this and maybe it would give you more freedom in your design because you're not limited to oneway runways. One big favor I have to ask you though PLEASE you gotta give those planes a perimeter taxi way instead of just linking each gate there just isn't enough space for the jets :(
I'm sorry if my English is derp, but I can tell from experience that the highway you're making close to the runways is terrifying! I drove there with my sister at night a few years ago. Obviously, planes have incredible bright headlights and they fly way faster then a car drives when they land. So what happens is you see massive lights from the rear, shining inside the car.. and when you turn around or check your mirrors to see what is going on, it looks like a boeying is about to hit you from behind! Then when you're sure this is your last second, the plane goes over the car and it's so close you can see the wear on the wheels of the plane, I kid you not. Me and my sister screamed so loud that night in the car, but the plane was louder.
YOU HAVE 1.6 MILLIONS SUBS?!?! Oh my GOD! I remember when you only had fricken 100,000! I mean its only been a year since i watched and BAM 1 Mil subs already. Congrats, I take my hat off to you sir.
keralis thank you so much for building the airport and it is starting taking a shape wich is amazing and also the city becomes biger and more and more beautiful!!!!!nice job!!!
I feel as though the airport should only be accessible by freeway not by roads. At least make the freeway (highway) connections the priority way into the airport. I think that will add realism to this project!! Love it so far!

dude you are still using the roads with sidewalkes! Don't use them! use the country side roads without sidewalks when you are placing down roads that are outside the city.
You should make the parallel runways 18L/36R (Buitenveldertbaan) and 18R/36L (Polderbaan). The cross runway can either be 04/22 (Oostbaan) or the direction 13/31 (which is not a real Schiphol runway) depending on which side is 36 and which is 18. Look at a google earth view, and you may see how the runways work. Also, the number, with a zero at the end, means the degrees. So runway 36 would be at 360 degrees, or north, whereas 09 would be 090 degrees, or east. 22 is 220 degrees, southwest. Just food for thought.
Keralis, i live in the Netherlands and if we go to Vacation we go to Schiphol. and everytime we go to Schiphol, we go in to that tunnel and see all the airplanes drivind up on us! Really cool ;-)
happy birthday! also yes it is schiphol wich has the underpass with the highway ;) the tnt thing is a post delivery company im lovin your series! mayb suggestion to do a dutch suburb(wijk) sometime? for some good examples of dutch citylayouts, look at Amersfoort ;) i live there, it has a beauty oldtown and perfectly planned outer new parts of the city and Zwolle, Utrecht and Nieuwegein i also wanted to share temp power solutions: 3x2 1MW Tesla Supercharging Station Tesla Power Plant - Original Version
Today is my birthday, and you gave me this great gift, another episode and also you made an airport, yeah!!!! now i just need a Marina and i'll be fully happy, Greetings from Colombia Keralis
Tiny little nitpick... PAPI lights are always on the left as you approach the airfield ;) Otherwise, amazing episode as always, been looking forward to seeing the airport for a while now! Good job Keralis :)
I had to laugh soo hard when Keralis said: So it has to be flat, otherwise it won't be so pretty, whatever he said, I don't know exactly. But then, no and and then he just placed some huge wind turbines right next to airport for power... HAHAHAHA. I know it isn't that funny but still. (7:10)
Dear Keralis! Inspired by your great videos I have started a new city myself and then experienced first hand, how hard it is, to make your city not only functional but also pretty. And seeing the difference between your and my city I cannot help but to BOW TO THE MASTER KERALIS
You should put a little town on the hills by the lake by the airport. It'd give you a chance to play with laying out a town on varying elevation, which you haven't yet done on this map, and I'm sure it would turn out very picturesque.
hey keralis I love this series and I just saw your house on the workshop today was wondering when you will find it :D and those shapes on the airport is awesome I dont care if its not realistic!
Keralis, could you please add a list of everything you have subscribed to on the Steam Workshop in the description. Not just the mods but the assets and colour corrections and everything else so we can also use everything your using! :D
The runway numbers work on degrees, so if a runway is exactly facing north it would be runway 36. and 2 runways next to each other it will be for example 09L and 09R (L= left R=right C=center) And the runway holding position asset goes on taxiways before the runway. I hope you add this :) ;).
keralis, may you please turn the beach into a South Beach themed look with highrise apartment condos overlooking the beach. it'll look great, the Miami scene is so beautiful :)
You could do a huge park / forest in that big land in the middle of airport terminals so that people could wait there for their airplanes. Maybe place some statues, art thingies... I think it would look amazing since you kinda can't place any big bushes / trees near airport. You could also surround it with water and call it an airport paradise island. Goshhh, I wish my PC would handle that game. :D PS. Pozdrowienia z Polski i wszystkiego najlepszego z okazji ubiegłych urodzin. :D

+Keralis Happy Birthday!
+Keralis what happened to ark
btw your amazing
Planes won't be using your airport creation because you've got three airport towers and too complex runways. They are scared man.
They can't rely on their IPad's for landing instructions because the GPS signals are blocked by that lonely dude living in the woods. You have to evict him and destroy his cottage. :D
I didn't understand
hahahaha
+Erik De Backer wtf
+Pranav Jha same
Hey +Keralis since you have 2 paralel runways, one should be 09L/27R and the other 09R/27L. +Jaime Ruiz Very good comment and suggestions, thank you!
+Keralis you're welcome dude
+Keralis Quick tip: Runways are numbered by what compass direction they face.

Hope this helps!
I would sit here all day and listen to Keralis ramble on about nothing with no gameplay. He has the voice of a God.
I feel like crying ;)
anywhere
You could add some hotels near this airport for when tourists come. I also like the Airport so far.
Runway numbers depend on there bearings, so one side in this case is 09 representing 90 degrees whereas the other side is 27 or 270 that added together is 360 (a circle)
I now understand now... THANK YOU!!
Keralis! Make a train station around the middle and add pedestrian bridges across each of the roads leading into the airport, so the civilians can use a train station to make their way into the airport.
+QuantumNova The airport comes with a metro station, so all trains are coming underground. This is also the case in most of the airports in RL.

Which day is your birthday?? =D
youre awesome happy birthday Keralis! :)
+Athedin Oh, and it looks amazing.
You should make a swedish suburb and place your house in that area!
+Damon Poisant He already built a Swedish place.
keralis to us avgeeks you made us rage so much this video lol but we all know your trying so were not mad at all but if you need any help or tweeks from us we are here to help
+Cole Johnson Haha you just wait and see, there will be more rage in the coming episodes. :p

another great episode, apart from the idea of sinking the area right next to a plane taxiway ;)
+milton1969able That might look good. :p
+Keralis what now? xD
Keralis'might' being the operative word here, same as the plane 'might' be ok or 'might' crash off :D
,,,but hey i trust your aesthetic judgement
Man! I really miss these Cities Skylines episodes!
Do they land in one direction all the time in RL? Otherwise, try to build a Runway "under" the existing one, so they can take of in both directions (and same for Taxiways)
+SturmZebraLP you're right, planes generally land into the wind if possible
+FlyingMaxFr Yes, you should know it with your picture and channel name :D

It's starting to take shape! Excited to see how it turns out. Makes me want to play the game again. Thanks for the inspiration, as always man.

There is no runway 4
Not yet

No 13 which is open only on friday
+Domino V runways work on degrees so its 01-36 :)

Happy Birthday Keralis and many more to come.
please make the runways oneway
YESH!!!!! FINALLY I HAVE BEEN WAITED FOR THIS EPISODE FOR YEARS!!!!!!!!!
the runways make a N
that also likes kinda like the Atlanta airport
AT LAST! The main reason I followed this series...
The plane is a virgin; first time landing here!
I'm sorry if my English is derp, but I can tell from experience that the highway you're making close to the runways is terrifying! I drove there with my sister at night a few years ago. Obviously, planes have incredible bright headlights and they fly way faster then a car drives when they land. yea
YOU HAVE 1.6 MILLIONS SUBS?!?! Oh my GOD! I remember when you only had fricken 100,000! I mean its only been a year since i watched and BAM 1 Mil subs already. Congrats, I take my hat off to you sir.
Know I’m late but it’s now over 2million!Crazy
Please don't split the runways. It'd be so unrealistic and wouldn't be pretty from above
keralis thank you so much for building the airport and it is starting taking a shape wich is amazing and also the city becomes biger and more and more beautiful!!!!!nice job!!!
Lmao I am a pilot. Let me just say the cringe is real XD
Jacob Wiersma same here what kind of planes you fly?

I feel as though the airport should only be accessible by freeway not by roads. At least make the freeway (highway) connections the priority way into the airport. I think that will add realism to this project!! Love it so far!

🎉🎊HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY KERALIS🎊🎉
Do an updated gaming setup video like if you agree :)))))
Happy Birthday!!! Wszystkiego najlepszego z okazji urodzin!!! 100 lat i spelnienia marzen ;)
Guys, you should check out this awesome new Cities Skylines TH-camr called freshpopcorn. His work is incredible!
Link him can't find him
link?
I came across his channel yesterday, good youtuber.
+Bob Smith I saw he's videos yesterday, absolutley loved them!
+Doctor Derpy Thanks :)
Nice start for airport! You should do it like you want to make it! It doesn't have to be most realistic thing ever but more like you!
dude you are still using the roads with sidewalkes! Don't use them! use the country side roads without sidewalks when you are placing down roads that are outside the city.
highways, true..
+Evren Etkin No not highways. There are roads the same size as the small ones except these don't have sidewalks.. :)
+Adrian Unknown ahh okay but at the season 2 he didn't use both highways and national roads.. anyways, lets hope he see this
You should make the parallel runways 18L/36R (Buitenveldertbaan) and 18R/36L (Polderbaan).
SUH DUDE
Hey Happy Birthday, I had mine on May 1st, turned 15. Hope you enjoyed your birthday as much as I enjoy the series.
I really like the way you play passionately! I enjoy watching this
Keralis, i live in the Netherlands and if we go to Vacation we go to Schiphol. and everytime we go to Schiphol, we go in to that tunnel and see all the airplanes drivind up on us! Really cool ;-)
Keralis, the holding runway position markings go on the taxiways where the taxiway meets the runway.
Holy crap!!!! I live in farnborough!!! It's the airport that all the famous football players use. I can't believe it got mentioned in your video!
happy birthday!
also yes it is schiphol wich has the underpass with the highway ;)
the tnt thing is a post delivery company
im lovin your series!
mayb suggestion to do a dutch suburb(wijk) sometime? for some good examples of dutch citylayouts, look at Amersfoort ;) i live there, it has a beauty oldtown and perfectly planned outer new parts of the city
and Zwolle, Utrecht and Nieuwegein
i also wanted to share temp power solutions:
3x2 1MW Tesla Supercharging Station
Tesla Power Plant - Original Version
Today is my birthday, and you gave me this great gift, another episode and also you made an airport, yeah!!!! now i just need a Marina and i'll be fully happy, Greetings from Colombia Keralis
YES...i've been waiting for this ep for like 40 episodes
Keralis it's true with Schiphol. I live in the Netherlands and there is A Tunnel under the landing road!!! I'm Loving it!
Tiny little nitpick... PAPI lights are always on the left as you approach the airfield ;)
Otherwise, amazing episode as always, been looking forward to seeing the airport for a while now!

Dear Keralis!
Inspired by your great videos I have started a new city myself and then experienced first hand, how hard it is, to make your city not only functional but also pretty. And seeing the difference between your and my city I cannot help but to BOW TO THE MASTER KERALIS
Could you try and make a greek part of the City please?
Btw the Airport is amazing 😉
thins I need to say:
at first: I like your voice
second: I like how you playing this game
and third: I like your love for details
You should put a little town on the hills by the lake by the airport. It'd give you a chance to play with laying out a town on varying elevation, which you haven't yet done on this map, and I'm sure it would turn out very picturesque.
Remember to add the car rentals and multi storey cars, great video
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KERALIS!!!!!
hey keralis I love this series and I just saw your house on the workshop today was wondering when you will find it :D and those shapes on the airport is awesome I dont care if its not realistic!
Happy birthday from the Baltics!
I'm in Estonia, what are you from
I am from Latvia!
Keralis, could you please add a list of everything you have subscribed to on the Steam Workshop in the description. Not just the mods but the assets and colour corrections and everything else so we can also use everything your using! :D
I love this :), great work Keralis. Keep up the AMAZING work :)
FINALLY THE AIRPORT I BEEN WAITING FOR WEEKS from Vietnam
The runway numbers work on degrees, so if a runway is exactly facing north it would be runway 36. and 2 runways next to each other it will be for example 09L and 09R (L= left R=right C=center) And the runway holding position asset goes on taxiways before the runway. I hope you add this :) ;).
keralis, may you please turn the beach into a South Beach themed look with highrise apartment condos overlooking the beach. it'll look great, the Miami scene is so beautiful :)
You could do a huge park / forest in that big land in the middle of
airport terminals so that people could wait there for their airplanes.
Maybe place some statues, art thingies... I think it would look amazing
since you kinda can't place any big bushes / trees near airport. You
could also surround it with water and call it an airport paradise island.
Goshhh, I wish my PC would handle that game. :D
PS. Pozdrowienia z Polski i wszystkiego najlepszego z okazji ubiegłych
urodzin. :D
Happy Birthday Keralis!
Yes! I have been waiting for this thank you!
this episode was so much fun to watch!!

Hey Keralis love the airport minor suggestion tho, runways are a bit oversized besides that it's awesome so excited that u started the airport.
