- To me, this story is not just about a yearly performance, but the formation of a community gathing together to make art of every kind.
A documentary of Middle Georgia’s annual ballet “The Nutcracker.” Practicing and performing in the time span of only 9 weekends, which is 18 days, dancers from the age of 6 to 18 put on this magnificent show, including a handful of professionals. The show’s artistic director, Alice Sheridan, is behind the majority of choreography and movement in the production. The rest of the non-profit show is tediously and wonderfully produced by a crew of volunteers, some parents of dancers and some that once danced in the show themselves. This show has kept audiences coming back and selling out Macon’s Grand Theatre since its first performance in 1985.
