This is so beautiful i can't even believe it, and Rob Swire has the voice of an angel... I really hope they go through with that bew Pendulum album Rob tweeted about, they were so amazing
I've listened to this song a thousand times, but NEVER imagined it was played like this live. Rather, I imagined something similar to Nine Inch Nails, where the album quality music was essentially just Reznor himself composing everything and then assembling it afterwards. I still think this sounds a little too perfect for being played "live". Methinks there is a reason the shots of the drumming cut away so quickly. Regardless, it's a timeless song regardless of how it was created.
Are u a fan of NIN? hard to find people like that for me.... Well, as much as I want to stay realistic, I believe that they truly did play their music like this because even when you look at Live at Brixton Academy, you can see them actually playing also - did you not know that they play like this? :D
Codex - Most of the modern day rock bands that combine conventional instruments and synthetic sounds (in an infinite amount of ways) owe at least a tiny bit of their success to Nine Inch Nails, as Reznor was the one who paved the way for this sound to reach the mainstream. Industrial music as it now exists owes a lot of it's heritage to NIN. I have followed Reznor for nearly 30 years now, ever since I heard Pretty Hate Machine for the very first time in 1989. It is remarkable to watch his journey from janitor, to Billboard #1, to hardcore addict, to self-actualization, to whatever tomorrow brings. In his own words, "he wrote some words and music in his bedroom as a way of staying sane", not to ascend to superstar status and all the baggage that goes with it. Everyone on the outside believes it must be awesome, but music history is littered with corpses who crumbled beneath the fame, money, and expectations. He was no different, and his songs/lyrics reflect that over time. Reznor is a sort of "father figure" for those of us who perpetually walled ourselves off from the world in hopes of shielding our fragile egos from abuse. Only in hindsight do I realize what I appreciated the most about him; he wore his emotions on his sleeve as a badge of who he was, unafraid to be himself, unafraid of what others would do or say. Lots of people talk the talk about being your own individual, yet almost every facet of society is geared towards conformity. It takes true courage to do what you believe is right when no one else does. It takes true courage to show the world how you "Hurt" inside.
Benjamin Lane hey, I was not trying to argue in any way just so you know :D but now that you've replied: I would like to talk about this a bit more but I am honestly a bit confused by your reply like I get what you are saying, I just don't exactly understand what are you trying to say in connection to my comment 0.o
Truthfully, I am confused as to what my reply was too, and I wrote it. I am sure I had a point in there somewhere. As I recall, I was being constantly interrupted... as I was technically "working". (ahem, yeah). I wrote a sentence, was gone for an hour, wrote another sentence, gone for an hour, etc. Let me summarize all whatever I wrote into this : NIN = Trent Reznor = fucked up yet awesome.
The guitars are triggering mini notes to create electronic sounds. same with the drum, Triggers a midi note to send to a computer. would be funny to hear without that though.
Such brilliance musically. Great tunes, vocals and epic arrangement but by god Rob Swire looks so frikkin bored and uninspiring and why doesnt he just use a bloody keyboard. I will always be a huge pendulum fan but just wish there was more stage presence.
