I’m from Sherwood, AR which is about 10 mins from Little Rock and when I was in high school(c/o 2002), one of my friends got their album at a local show and we use to pass their album around school for people to hear. Funny they were just a local band at the time and would be become famous only a few years later. Good times

All in all, I think this is the best version of this track. The stripped-down production puts the focus on Amy Lee's voice, which was always the strongest point of this band's sound.

Amy said it herself, that the guy from the label wanted this version because this sounded “raw and vulnerable” She hated this version of this song because this was her “19 year old self and she just got out of highschool” when they recorded this lol. I love this version the best though, and though I love Amy Lee I have to agree with the “guy” from the label. This sounded more heartfelt and the strings added only complemented her voice. Even my sister, who isn’t technically a fan, asked me what this version was and said she preferred this over the band version. Apprently she has never heard this version before but said she felt the song more when she did.
@PingouinBleu1 Origin is the first official album released by Evanescence, but Amy hates the album and does not consider it to be a profesional album or like the songs on it. The album is not well known of however because it was not released under Wind Up Record's name. It was released under Big Wig Enterprise's name.
The correct term is EP. Origin is Evanescence's first EP which is a compilation of considered demos for a full studio LP. Typically EP demos are remastered/re-mixed or re recorded all together.
I love rock instrumentation added in the later version of the song, and Amy Lee's vocals are great in that version. Though, I agree the more restrained instruments here makes her voice stand out more, and I agree that the song feels a bit more raw on the whole.
Ok because this sounds like exactly like one of the versions on Fallen. Doesn't Fallen have 2 versions on it? One without the drums and guitars and one with (aka The Band Version)?
Omg it’s so great listening to this version after years!! This one hits so hard. First time I heard this song was in 7th grade while watching a sasuXsaku amv. It shattered me. Sigh such beautiful music :’)

@PingouinBleu1 this one is from origin album they made in 2000 they made fallen on 2003 and its the same but with violins evanescence has many demos and versions of there songs you should check them all out!!!

Not the version that got a lot of play on the radio with the stupid guitar or whatever added towards the end, but the album version with the piano. Unless maybe there's more background vocals or something like that. Amy sounds exactly the same though.
211of211 I can hear a slight difference after she sings “I’ve been alone all along” after that at around 3:06 they added a strings section in Fallen that you don’t hear in this one
So I lost my brother who was 10 years older than me to brain cancer. He was 38 when he was diagnosed. and then I met my fiance right after my brother died and within 3 months of our relationship my fiance was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He died 4 years later with me right there holding him. This song has always reminded me of losing both of them. And both of them still have ALL OF ME. ITS SO LONELY WITHOUT THEM. I MISS THEM SO MUCH AND THE PAIN IS STILL SO HARD TO BARE.

The band version is forever my favourite version of this song, but when it comes to the Origin demo version of this song, I honestly think it sounds more beautiful without strings
