If you get cats from kittens you should get used to it. My mom and sister are allergic to cats and they adjusted to the cat fast ☺️

She's adorable but too young to be separated from her mother. Kittens should stay with their mom's and littermates till they're at least 8 weeks old, ideally 12 weeks.
Yes, I agree. I asked her previous owner if I could get her at 12 weeks but that was not an option allotted to me 🤷🏽♀️ unfortunately. But now Lily is in a loving, supportive home 💗 updates soon 😉

@@tanyahawes9281 actually she was not taking her mother's milk when I got her. She was completely weened off her milk. In the video, she was sleeping with her mom, not drinking from her mom lol.

Yes, you can feed them milk. But not the type of milk that humans drink. Not from a cow because it will give them a tummy ache. If you happen to adopt a kitten before it's fully weaned, you can buy the kitty milk formula at PetSmart or Petco. They sell the powder mixture, you put it in a bottle with water and feed it to them.
Actually you can buy formula milk from pet stores like Petco and PetSmart that's safe for kittens to drink instead of their mother's milk. There are a lot of stray and abandoned kittens in shelters and that's typically what they use to give younger kitten's that need a supplement to their absentee mother's milk.

Absolutely adorable. One thing in correction though, she may be requiring extra attention now (as she should as a kitten), as she grows they become more independent. Definitely more self sufficient than dogs. This doesn’t mean to leave her by herself (more than a day) or ignore her. Fresh water and nutritious food, play toys, a seat by the window, a clean litter box and one on one time is very important of course. Remember, they see you as a parent and you are all they have. Enjoy your new kitty. Again, she is super adorable.

That's sensible. They hadn't even been weened yet as they were feeding from the mother at first sight.
a very good and logical rule. look at this kitten - she was taken from mom while still being fed only with moms milk. and she was not eating solid food yet! you cant cut it off that drastically. the mom cat will gradually teach her kittens to eat solid food in a week or two
Not only in Sweden it’s just a rule except if they didn’t have a mom that would be a dif case but she does! Which makes me concerned...
@@labdo4882 In Sweden it’s part of the Animal Welfare Act, so it’s not only a rule, it’s the law, so (in Sweden) it’s literally a crime to take kittens from their mother before the age of 12 weeks.

What a cutie! Then again there aren't many less than cute kittens out there. The fun thing is that just like dogs every single cat is different. Their personalities are very distinct and they all act differently. I'm closing on fifty and have had cats my entire life and they have always been the best friends I've had.

PLEASE READ BEFORE GETTING A KITTEN! I just adopted a kitten and she is sooo cute. One thing I wish I had known is that it’s best to bring home a pair of kittens rather than just one if they are under 6 months (unless you already have have young cat playmate for the new kitten). It prevents single kitten syndrome - depression, loneliness when no one is around, playmates help so you don’t need to spend 24/7 keeping them busy (they require around the clock time and energy!), and it helps them to grow into gentler and more social adults. Please do your research before getting just one kitten! They are so cute but a hand full and there’s more to their psychology than playing and cuddling with them. I wish the shelters would require an education for those who have not previously been a cat or dog owner so owners can be better prepared on the different types of behavior and psychology behind our furry babies.
Everyone doesn't have a bunch of money to get two cats. Shelters are overwhelmed with kittens who need homes so they're not going to require two cats be adopted on none. That makes no sense.
100% agree. 2 cats don’t cost that much more than one, and it is very cruel to 1) Take a kitten away from its mum at 6 weeks old. 2) Keep a kitten alone, rather than with a playmate. People need to inform themselves well before getting pets as if they were toys.
She's adorable. I can tell by her eyes that she is smart. I have lived in a rehabilitation center for 3 years. I can't wait 'til I buy my new home and can adopt a Siamese cat. I am going to toilet train her, so I don't have to mess with a litter box. Have a Happy New Year with your new "daughter!"

She's adorable, as her mom and caregiver only feed your fur baby the best food with a mix of wet and dry. Many people buy the cheapest grocery store dry food that will rob you of about 5 years of their lives. The great comedian George Carlin once said during a stand up routine " never feed your cat dry food only " he was referring to losing his early because he made that mistake. He wasn't joking when he said that, I never forgot it.

Always adopt 2. They keep each other company and they play together. It was sad to see the kitten taken away from it's mother and brothers and sisters.
"I thought they were independent, I thought they would play by themselves" etc etc.
Here's the thing that bothers me so much about people who think this way about cats. They think this is some kind of excuse for leaving their pets alone at home EVERY SINGLE DAY, DAY IN AND DAY OUT from morning when they head out until the evening when they arrive back at home. They think their cats are fine, because "they sleep like 18h-20h a day anyway right?".
No that's total BS, they don't sleep that long. They sleep with you during the night (~8 hours), but in the morning they wake up and they're awake for a few hours wanting to play etc and when their owners aren't home they don't sleep all the time. They do other stuff as well if they would have the opportunity, like going outside etc. They get very lonely if you leave them alone for such a long time every day, it's basically torture and imprisonment. They're looking forward for you to get back home all day so they finally have someone again to play with in the evening, however long (short) that may last.
They need activity, toys to play with, another cat to play with or being able to go outside or else they get lonely as hell.
Just like humans, they need attention, affection, something to do as well when they are awake. A cat that has these opportunities sleeps maybe like 10h or max 14h a day. 8h with their owners in the night and like 4h during the day of which half of it is just sitting around and resting a little here and there (short naps).
For the record, I am talking about adult cats here, not kittens. Yes kittens are high maintenance and it will dwindle down as they turn into adults, but they still require enough attention.

@@DestinyDiamond I'm essentially saying it to you as well though. Consider getting her a buddy if she's not able to go outside, especially if you're the type of person that spends quite a bit some time away from home. Think about it.
@@R.James. I work from home and am with her 24/7. The only days I work is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, but my boyfriend is home at that time. So she's never alone unless we go to the grocery store. 🤗

I've taken in kittens before and it would break my heart when I would watch my kitten play ALONE because he was the only cat in the house so I went and got another kitten so he would have a partner to play with and man, that was the best thing that I could of done for him. They played so hard that they would knock themselves out from playing so hard. My advice to people with pets, don't just get ONE get 2 because animals are like people and they get lonely too. I almost cried when I saw how much my kitty enjoyed his new partner. God bless all of you who take in a pet and give it a home. Thank you for this video it was a great story. 👍

I am very glad that a kitten adopted me 6 months ago. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that when you adopt a pet, you are committed to take care of them for life. Indoor cats often live 20-25 years. Outdoor cats die of trauma or disease in 7 years or less. I think cats cost up to $2000 a year, unless surgery other than spaying/neutering is needed. Cats who eat only dry food often get kidney stones. Also: cats are obligate carnivores. If you try to make a cat vegan it will die of starvation.

Omg this reminds me of the time we got my boyfriends cat as a graduation gift from his mom back in June. We named her Joy and got her at 8 weeks off a farm. She’s a little diva now getting into literally everything, he has a dog and another cat and she gets along with the dog decently which was good. She is a Manx cat super cute and still small even though he has had her for 4 and a half months. That’s like the highlight of my day whenever I go over to his place.

As a long-time cat owner, (18 years with a male purebred sealpoint Himalayan), I was taken aback when you mentioned kitty's age as six weeks. I agree with a commenter here that six weeks is too young for her to be separated from mom.
I have always been told by breeders that 10 weeks is the minimum.
Yes, you are correct. I knew that before getting her and requested that I would receive her at 12 weeks. The seller said she was two months old when I bought her. Then a day later, I took the kitty to the vet and the vet told me, based on the amount of teeth she had, he suspects that she is six weeks old, and not two months like the seller suggested. I didn't intend to get her at six weeks, however, I am glad that everything worked out the way it did because the kitten needed medical attention that her previous owner wasn't providing her. I explain all this in my other videos and continue to create videos of Lily so people can watch her grow up to be a healthy, happy kitty. Thank you for your concern, and I hope you stick around 💞

Long ago, I developed a Strong Bond of Trust with my Himalayan. I bathe him once every 30 days and trim his claws at that time too.
I was Very Careful to socialize him when he was a kitten. Thus, whenever company comes, he comes out from wherever to see who the guest is and greet them.
I've Always given him his space and he has turned out to be a very loving kitty. Nickname is Luce or Kitsoo. His name is Lucifer....
Ideally, you should adopt two so they can occupy each other’s need for constant stimulation, especially with rough play, which is difficult for most owners to accomplish. Something to think about, and hopefully do!

Give them some cardboard boxes and some "safe spaces" they can run to (like the bag you brought her home in) just a dark place they can run to when they feel like it. Oh and if you say "yummm" (or something similar) in a certain tone every time you feed her, she will come running every time you say it after a few weeks. It's the cutest thing. Good luck!

It is worth noting, the kitten is dependent on you so much because she needs a companion. Over the last 30 or so years I have always had at least two cats so they can play with each other and keep each other company if I am away at work. Kittens especially need a companion to play with and hang with. If its not another kitten then it will need to be you. Also 2 cats are less work than one, because they have each other. With any pet, you get out of them how much you put into them. Give them lots of your time and they respond. Ignore them and they will end up ignoring you.

I was nursing 3 kittens and gave one of them to their new home today I miss him but I'm keeping one kitten. :)
My sister inlaw volunteers for a cat shelter. She received two abandoned Manx kittens. The first weeks were round the clock feeding. Five years on, they're grown BUT they both trt to fit inside their kitten bed like yours.

My dad used to hate cats. But a couple days ago i adopted a kitten and he loves my cat more than anyone else. He even plays with them and sleep with them, he even said "i think i should get one too. Because they're adorable" hahahaha

Whereas normally she would have her brothers and sisters to play with and her mom to look after her at this stage in her life, she has you. Those are big steps to fill but I hope you know she's not following you around to annoy you, she is very social and used to playing non-stop at this stage in her life. That's how they hone their social, fighting, and hunting skills.

But many cats, while friendly to all people , will prefer one individual. You are fortunate. A purring cat snuggled against your body, purring, is best sleep aid known. 5 minutes and you are out like a light. Don't be afraid of picking her up by scruff. This is nature's mute-calm down button. In cats , scruffing makes them more compliant. Scuffing does not hurt cat.

Yes, kittens/cats are high maintenance. Solid color cats shed more than tabby pattern cats. They shed a lot of hair 24/7. You will have hair in everything. I have to vacuum my floor every day.
Lol Thanks for the heads up! When she was younger, her shedding was minimal, not very noticable. But now that she is an adult, her hair is everywhere. I started brushing her hair once a day so that she doesn't get hairballs. It's been working out for the most part.

Super cute, also a tip, don't use your hands to play with the kitten like you did at around the 6 minute mark. They will grow associating your hand with play, and their bites are much more forceful when they are an adult. You can do something like this, but use a small soft toy and make sure they bite that and not your hands.
