  • The older sister of three Marokopa children missing with their father for more 18 months says she fears her siblings will think the family has given up looking for them.
In an exclusive interview for documentary series Mata Reports, Jubilee Dawson said she was missing out on seeing her three siblings grow up after her former step-father disappeared with the children in September 2021, briefly returned and then disappeared a second time in December 2021.
This story is in partnership with Mata, with the support of NZ on Air’s Public Interest Journalism Fund and Te Mängai Päho.

I've been around this growing up, I know the BS that is played out so that the KIDNAPPING PARENT can HARM THE OTHER PARENT at the EXPENSE OF THE CHILDREN. Have you noticed the individual in these comments threatening that the children will be KILLED if the 'courts don't back off'? Its rare for there to be a custodial parent (1 parent having main custody) in this age of split care. They care more about the rights of the parents than the safety of the kids. When someone like Tom decides to go off grid and he's already what sounds like a sovcit type... How is it the polices fault when they've done search and rescue and I'd guess there's a lot going on behind the scenes that the police said they can't talk about. When someone like that is determined and practiced at disappearing, he's obviously and tragically successful. It's heartbreaking for the kids and family. He's obviously getting help financially with food, shelter and supplies. His parents must know something and be helping him as the police said that he doesn't even trust banks. I don't doubt he'll get caught, I just hope that it's very soon for the kids sake.

    • @tessiepinkman

@@elenawilliams32 In my view it's the court's fault for not giving the mother full custody DIRECTLY after he took them the first time. She would have been getting in trouble if she didn't let the kids see their father, so she had only one choice; Let them see him and PRAY that he'd let them come back home. That the court didn't speed up the process after he'd showed that he couldn't be trusted with the kids is a crime in and of itself - to me.
EDIT: Then again, the police aren't really doing *anything* at all to find these kids. If they are so sure people are helping him, why not put cameras at the parents farm and other people that could know something? Why not send out a big team to search? Why not look through the bush with thermal cameras, they do have helicopters, don't they? Otherwise, call the fucking army to help find them. They have been missing way too long for the response from the police being sufficient. So yes, it's on the police too.

The fact that the journalist brought up him being affiliated with conspiracy or anti-government groups was telling. It seems this father and the extended family are protecting the children from something/someone, and they clearly don't trust the biological mother. Can you blame a father not wanting to be separated from his kids? imagine losing control over when you can be with your children or how you raise them once a relationship turns sour. I don't blame him for wanting to stay the hell away from the courts.

It would be interesting to hear the kids opinions on the matter...! The court did not want to separate him from his kids they wanted both parents to share care as is the norm in this age! Just because his family do not like/trust the bio mum it does not mean she is not a fit parent! His actions are showing him to be the unfit one!
