Wrote this song years ago, after multiple mass shootings. (Which, in America, is every year.)

I started writing it about a fox that ran by. But then the verses veered into our country’s gun laws. (And gun lobby.)
.
Now the gun violence is at our doorstep. At a grocery store where we’ve shopped many times.
.
Our hearts break for the victims and their loved ones.
.
But, like this song says, that’s not enough. Thoughts and prayers are not enough.
.
We’re all for freedom. But our nation’s bullshit gun laws make all of us less free.
.
Today, we mourn ten people who should still be here.
.
And we mourn a government too cowardly to take actions that could help prevent this.

To our community here in Boulder: We’re with you in heartbreak. And rage.

I like the scenery, and I love all your other music, especially Brand New Good Old Days, and while I agree that we shouldn't have automatic guns like AR's in circulation, unless for military use out in circulation, but it is 2nd Amendment to be able to bear arms. We should be able to bear arms to defend ourselves from criminals like violent trespassers, violent home burglars, murderers, rapists, and all the other scum on this planet that are trying (and succeeding, in some cases) to kill others. Like the shooting up of that church in Texas is bittersweet. It could have been prevented by again, not having these crazy automatic guns out, but it was also a good chance to show that owning handguns is a good thing. When the shooting in White Settlement, Texas started, the shooter had managed to already kill 2 people, and the instructor/ reserve sheriff, Mr. Jack Wilson, had less than 1 second to get a shot in at the criminal due to line of sight issues, and took the bastard out. Mr. Wilson said the entire ordeal took less than 6 seconds. On that day, Mr. Wilson saved countless others, seeing as there were 240 members of the congregation there that day.

If you go and put that gun away, only the wicked posses them. Its about protecting each other from them, not laying down defenseless. Just finished listening to a true horror story from mr.ballen on TH-cam...guy raped and burned mother and daughters friend, then daughter but she was stabbed in neck, then he went on to rape and decapitate another 4th woman... he did all this because he aimed a gun at them and none of them had one. Just a hand gun, and in California. Also, where most gun deaths and violence occurs is in Chicago where they are heavily restricted if not legal to have at all.
yep. if every 11-year-old girl in America was packin' heat I'm sure there'd be waaaay less crime and violence. I wonder how the heck other "non-gun" countries manage to roll with per-capita gun-crime rates, per-capita gun-death rates, and per capita mass-shooting rates than the USA. Its a freakin mystery.
@@bmolitor615 I'm not sure why you specifically brought up 11 year old girls. In person I'd be more willing to debate stats and the like. We do have a problem with mass shootings tho. Wonder if its worse than all the bombings in Europe from groups I am not allowed to mention. Also for example, Scotland and Britain banned guns and became the stabbing capitals. I'd say take knife fighting seriously, but you o ly can so much because they regulate the kind and size of knife you can have too which is not a regulation criminals follow. Not sure it matters how much time and energy you spend trying to become an excellent knife fighter with a small knife, when a 250 pound dude with an 8 inch kabar comes at you with that. If he wants you there may not be any escaping, unless you had a gun of course 😉

Own a musket for home defense, since that's what the founding fathers intended. Four ruffians break into my house. "What the devil?" As I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky rifle. Blow a golf ball sized hole through the first man, he's dead on the spot. Draw my pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because it's smoothbore and nails the neighbors dog. I have to resort to the cannon mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with grape shot, "Tally ho lads" the grape shot shreds two men in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off car alarms. Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion.He Bleeds out waiting on the police to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up, Just as the founding fathers intended.
If you can't hit someone at point blank range with a modern firearm then you have no business owning a weapon to begin with cause you're clearly fucking blind.

We need our AK's too, better aim and protection. MOST "gun" violence is by hand guns and by people who arnt allowed to own any gun. People kill people. If not with guns, they'll find another way. Violence needs to stop. Until then I'd keep an AK and handgun. Let God's love enter our hearts!
