- Another Top 100 list - this time for the Game Boy Advance (GBA)
The ranking from this list comes from Metacritic (www.metacritic.com/browse/game... I'm aware that this is a somewhat controversial source as many of you abhor Metacritic - but I was unable to find a good user-vote based list. Still, I think the Metacritic list does provide a good view of the library.
And what a library indeed. The GBA has one of the largest libraries around for any game system, and there was a looooot of trash there; however, there was also a significant amount of genuine gems - many of which are showcased here.
Making this video was surprising for me, as I didn't spend very much time with my GBA at all. Researching this video, I realize I missed out; there are some really impressive titles on this system - for example, the Doom and Duke Nukem ports were really something; and so many titles feature some gorgeous hand-drawn graphics. It really is amazing what some developers managed to cram out of the two button portable! - เกม

Seriously the pixel art on Metroid Zero Mission and Zelda the Minish Cap is just a master class.
Peak pixel art, sadly they started using a lot of 3d on the NDS and pixel art went a bit missing, never to be as great as this

@@lowlink534 Nah, there were some absolute beauts on the DS as well. Ghost Trick, Contra 4, Monster Tale, Henry Hatsworth, Shantae, there was a gorgeous 2D Doraemon game as well. Some stunning work.
Granted though that a lot of big franchises went to janky DS 3D.

The GBA does have a pretty awesome library though - I should really play more of it.
Final Fantasy 6 Advance is an example of a port that fixed Final Fantasy 3 for snes. Fixed even the name, imagine that. Mainly the controls, but that alone made one the characters playable, which otherwise was impossible!

Yeah, the ports on the GBA are definitely great, but putting ports on a list like this seems cheap and out of place.
FF6 advance has a soft enough slap to bring you around a full 360
You know... despite this list... It's amazing how many of these games had EXTENSIVE gameplay all packed on a two AA battery powered handheld.

More gameplay than you get with some of these AAA games. That's funny a handheld in 2000s running on AA batteries has more content than a AAA game on a console in 2018.

For me, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town has always been my favorite part of the series and one of my favorite GBA games..

@@randomness4989 it's a farming game, the goal is to just grow crops expand your house and barns. The way to complete it is to get married to one of the girls that play as love interests, it's extremely fun and relaxing

It's just someone's list, the Pokemon games all should really be close to the top. They even put Pokemon Pinball above FireRed and Leafgreen.

Minish cap is not a port. It's a original game made by Nintendo and capcom. Get your facts straight.
I like ALttP more because of the amount of content among other things, but I think Minish Cap did a better job at having an exceptionally “Zelda” world. And the scenery when tiny was amazing.

81 is abit low and even if Gen 1 hasn’t aged well (In GBA format no less) they still added essentially a mint region with the islands and is compatible with Gen 2/3 Pokémon.
No clue why FRLG are so low (few pegs away from SwSh the lowest rates Pokémon game on the site) RSE I can understand with circumstance about Gen 2 pocket having cancer

The Pokemon games, and especially Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald will always have a nostalgic place in my heart.
Just hearing the battle music takes me back to 2004.
Drill Dozer , Minish cap , R/S/E , Mother3 , Mystery Dungeon, and Amazing Mirror all deserved wayyy more higher
Props for using the games' soundtrack too. Too few of these types of these videos do that and it's a shame

To all the people complaining about "Mother 3" not being on this list - this list is compiled by *Metacritic* - which as a rule does not review games that were not released outside of Japan. Mother 3 was never released outside Japan, and hence has no Metacritic score and is therefore is not on this list. *DEAL WITH IT*

I missed Sims on console. I played gba urbz recently and it still had the same charm. And the only games I care to revisit in the ps2 are god of wars, and Sims bustin out and sims 2.

Harvest Moon FoMT, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, Pokémon FRLG, MegaMan and Metroid Fusion were the best games I have ever played. So many good memories
The Castlevania games, especially Aria of sorrow, will always have a special place in my heart, my very favorite game on GBA

I didn’t watch the entire youtube video, just skimming through to see more fun games I should play or missed out on. I’m currently replaying all my old gameboy games right now. Golden Sun ☀️ & Sims Bustin Out are my favorites! 😊 Mega Man & Dragon Ball Z of course too.
GBA was the best portable console imo. so many classics with SNES style graphics. I don't think any other will ever top it

Kirby and the amazing mirror, mario vs donkey kong, minish cap, mario tennis power tour, and wario land 4 are some of my favorite games on the system, I might be forgetting others.
These games, and even most of the games I haven’t played just look so unique compared to non-gba games with their graphics and music
I feel like Golden Sun is up there with the best RPGs in general, it's definitely better than Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 lol. I also think Megaman Battle Network deserves a better ranking than #76.
Battle Network 3 was the best of the series though (imo offcourse) the post- final boss part of that game was amazing. 4 was possibly the worst one sadly.

They are actually very good, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 is defenitely top 5 on the GBA... And if your wandering another game that deserves being pretty high is Tekken Advance, clearly the best fighting game on the GBA... Don't be close minded...
Grey Man I got Tekken advance :) still play it once and a while. I also have Tony hawk 2 , 4 and underground 2. All great games.
For real, Puyo Pop GBA making it in this list at all is awesome. I haven't played it, but it looked pretty good and the dialogue is almost as good as Puyo Puyo Tetris... not that there was much competition anyway.
I love Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. I've actually been playing it again recently.

So many people saying metacritic are dumb, or bias or whatever...how do people not realize by now that all metacritic is, is an AGGREGATE of all review scores. They don't score anything themselves, they just compile the reviews and give an average. So people shocked that Tony Hawk games scored so high, it's not just one dude going "I like this game. 95" it's dozens of reviewers scoring it 9s and a few 8s here and there.
Apparently, the concept of "understanding" something before posting stupid comments is not something that a large number of these people seem to comprehend.

Imo Zero Mission was better, a remake, but a very good remake.
@@alexacosta3655 I like fusion more because of the atmosphere, the story and the bosses, my God the boss fights are really. Zero Mission for me feels too short and straightforward, yes fusion is far more linear but zm's world feels too small. The last part of the game is really great tho, although I was a bit disappointed with the final boss

2001 seems so far away when I watch my GBA cartridges collection... Yet it's only 20 years old... Nostalgia is the strongest and strangest feeling in the world.
So nostalgic, only missed two that I can think of. Kingdom hearts: chain of memories, and sword of Mana. (Thanks for getting mmbn in there)
I actually agree with a vast majority of the games on this list. Most people criticizing this are likely just biased and probably havent even played many of these games. Just because it isn't your cup of tea doesnt mean it's not a great game

Going from Rayman 3 to Sonic Advance 2 feels about the same as watching a bicycle race then switching the channel to a F1 race!
Both are cool anyway. But it would be WAY better if they named it Rayman 2 instead (you probably know why).
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow is definetly the best game on this list. Played almost every listed game and Aria of Sorrow is the only game I finished because it grabbed me from start to finish.
Guys, The Legend Of Zelda The Minish Cap is one of the most beautiful games I have ever seen on this console. this is my favorite portable console because of games and graphics, very, very and very best even super cute

The problem with aggregate review sites is illustrated perfectly here. It's a stretch to call random Tetris rip offs better than Pokemon or Kirby, but since those games receive far fewer reviews, they're much less likely to encounter low outlier scores than those much more popular games.

I once went to an arcade, and among the usual stuff like pacman machines, they had a section dedicated to emulation. It wasn't marked, so my friends didn't believe that they were emulations. I was like, 9, at the time, but I knew it was emulation because I knew all of the games; all except for one, that is, and now I know what that game is.
You have put 9-year-old me to rest, now that I know the name of all games on that section. It was Super Monkey Ball Jr.

8:24 omg this game i swear, it sounds like i'm lying but i played this all the time when i was 4-7 years old (and i was only able to get to the final boss then i'd ragequit) and i only stopped playing because smart phones really started to become a thing. this game gives me so much nostalgia it makes me feel sick

Ha ha -- I remember Mortal Kombat Advance being famous for getting a "0" score in EGM. Apparently, when Peter Moore moved over to Microsoft to head the Xbox division, he kept a copy of it on his desk as a reference of how NOT to do things. I should have put it on the list to troll. :)

Sabre Wulf, Pokemon Fire red, Pokemon Emerald, DBZ Buu's fury, Legacy of Goku 1,2, Sonic battle, Sonic Advance 3, The endless mods of Pokemon games, Harvest Moon, and finally Astro Boy on GBA. Wrestlefest, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs and Metal Slug 2 on Arcade. Gta Vc and San on Pc. Literally every game on Sega genesis. These games made my childhood amazing! Even though I grew up in the 00s, These consoles were new for our region. I remember my brother calling GBA NFS Carbon Graphics "Real world" lol.
