Shout out to Human Remains (one of the first tech death bands) and Rorschach (one of the first metalcore bands). Lethargy is kickass too and their guitarist/vocalist also put out good stuff in his earlier band Matrikhore.
Hey man I don’t usually listen to straight mathcore or whatever usually only listen to death metal bands that have elements of it in the music but I was curious stumbled on this code and it’s such a huge breath of fresh air to hear that band Telos so I went and bought the album and the first song within reach blew me away so sick
Great video but I think norma jean and chariot should be on here. bless the martyr and the chariot's discography went hard Edit: I forget to mention that the callous daoboys should've been included as well
Agreed. You'll find a lot of people distance themselves from those two bands because they were "scene" bands. I saw them when they were nobodies at a community center before Martyr came out. When O God, The Aftermath came out I hated it, and ignored them for years. Same with The Chariot, after first album just ignored everything. Then somehow I ended up going back and having like 9 albums to discover, and I don't think either band has a bad album. If I can put you on to something you might not know about: listen to Underoath before Dallas Taylor left the band. So their first album, and especially their first 2 EP's. Incredible music that lots of people don't even know about.
I think those bands are great, but I don't think they hit the math core sound enough to be on the list. I was personally surprised HeavyHeavyLowLow weren't mentioned
A lot of the bands I thought should be on the list are already mentioned in the comments but I’ll speak up for one I’m not seeing. See You Next Tuesday.
It's an impossible genre to define. Lots of people like to call Ion Dissonance grindcore. Human Remains is often also considered grindcore. Mathcore is almost like a catch-all term for a wide variety of bands. I've seen Fear Before The March Of Flames described as mathcore.
For anyone else is reading the comments looking for more like this, look up Hayworth. Their album “i now pronounce you fucked and depressed” is just art.

My first time hearing of you guys. Fucking fantastic.

Still an 11 out of 10 band regardless
No Daughters (early daughters) or Number 12, or even Norma Jean……. Jane Doe (2001) and Axe To Fall (2009) by Converge is a straight up mathcore album

Amazing bands. Quite funny that almost all of the examples are just plain 4/4
I didn't even notice that, but it's ironic. And Irony Is A Dead Scene.
i consider odd times to be more a staple of prog. not to speak for all mathcore bands, but the majority is in 4.
No The Chariot? ooo, controversial.
