Sacramento needs a team once our Sac Republic stadium is built. The high school talent in the Sacramento area from Jesuit to Granite Bay and McClatchy is unmatched and rugby is growing so much around here
Another team in NorCal would make a lot of sense given the talent pool in both the Bay Area and greater Sac area. Lot of islander boys here and it feels like every city has a club these days

Abso-bloody-lutely. A legitimate MLR could lead to a legitimate Americas Rugby Championship. Maybe it's possible for Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Chile to get 8 franchises together for a competition and create a genuaine Americas rugby scene to go with Europe and Asia-Pacific. In my dreamworld South Africa goes it alone and somehow gets a 10 team competition going with Zimbabwe, Namibia and kenya franchises but obviously that's just a dream. Either way, a solidified Americas scene, north and south and with the ARC, could create a new rugby world. Imagine it, club world finals of 3 Super rugby, 3 Heineken Cup and 2 MLR teams in 10 years. There's so much scope on how rugby could reform into an international season, and I didn't even mention Japan which could join Asia-Pacific or continue to stand alone as well. a very exciting time for rugby.

Come on USA, we've been waiting for this day for a long time now. From an Aussie, I really want to see the MLR put itself on the map alongside the other great comps. Good luck in the future fellas!
The establishment of MLR is one of the few really encouraging developments of the last few years, in terms of the growth of rugby as an international sport. Compared with the farcical state of Super Rugby pre-Covid, the mis-matches of the Pro-14, or the tedious moneyball of the Top League, Premiership and Top 14, MLR's very existence (if not its standard) is a genuine sign of progress and a real opportunity for the sport to establish itself outside of Europe and the Antipodes.
I think MLR has a shot to be a mid-major sport in the US we have a lot of successful mid-major sports in the US, I think it can get to the level of MLS , the attendance is not close to MLS now however MLS attendance is quite inflated many tickets are free or sold at very low prices and after two and half decades it never could get much of a TV or streaming audience what it did have going for it was a couple of billionaires who invested hundreds of millions of dollars trying to make a Association Football league work in the US/Canada because that means $$$. MRL doesn't have this but what it does have is a very unique sport that should blend in well to American culture.
wait till you hear about you hear about Suzuki Sidekick. He used to break bottles over his head at rugby frat parties, but I think he's gonna go far in MLR.

One little thing that made me laugh was the head coach of the Seawolves being on sports radio for an interview. He was talking about how the lads do a great job as ambassadors for rugby by always cleaning up the shed after a match.. but since the coach is a Kiwi, the radio host thought he had just swore on live radio 🤣🤦♂️but it's great that they had him on, and looking forward to making it 3 shields in a row next year for my Seawolves!
There are a lot of clips of Canadian teams(Toronto etc), are they part of MLR? think I'll start following MLR. Atlanta in particular. cant go wrong with Harley Davidson on the wing.
MLR is our bat-shit-crazy rugby that we love and cheer for. And it is somehow growing pro/semi-pro rugby throughout all America, considering that even some Brazilian internationals seems to be snatched to it.
Being a rugby fan from the US and having an mlr team in my area (Chicago) gave me an opportunity to go and enjoy the game in the area I live in. I think mlr is doing way better than mls (if you compare when the leagues started) mls only launched 2 years after the World Cup in the US and the hype for soccer died down by then, mlr launching way before the rugby World Cup gives an opportunity to bring teams with competent owners who want to grow the game here instead of just wanting to make money from it. I really believe in, and hope that the World Cup in the US would push rugby into becoming a top 5 sport here

Love the MLR!
I had no idea he was in the USA playing rugby. Good on him
I think MLR has a shot to be a mid-major sport in the US we have a lot of successful mid-major sports in the US, I think it can get to the level of MLS , the attendance is not close to MLS now however MLS attendance is quite inflated many tickets are free or sold at very low prices and after two and half decades it never could get much of a TV or streaming audience what it did have going for it was a couple of billionaires who invested hundreds of millions of dollars trying to make a Association Football league work in the US/Canada because that means $$$. MRL doesn't have this but what it does have is a very unique sport that should blend in well to American culture.
MLS is garbage football, yet it sells like mad!
Patience there, possibilities are endless with the growth of both the game and the comp in general.
@@blackfreethinker2525 Yea it is like minor league Baseball, I think minor league Baseball puts something like 40 million people in seats each year.
wait till you hear about you hear about Suzuki Sidekick. He used to break bottles over his head at rugby frat parties, but I think he's gonna go far in MLR.
loved this video its just fun and not a bad history lesson either. This from a co-founder of the league and owner of the seawolves
Die hard rugby fan from south africa and qurss what i prefer watching the MLR even more than our premier competion the CURRIE CUP .
ALSO IM A FANATICAL CHEETAH SUPPORTER AND WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM IN THE MLR SQUARING UP TO MY FAVOURITE MLR TEAM THE MIGHTY FREE JACKS
I TELL YOU WITH THE RIGHT MOVES AND SPONSORS ETC ETC RUGBY IS GONNA BE MASSIVE IN THE USA I HOPE TO SEE THE USA ONE DAY EVEN WINNING THE WORLD CUP NOW THAT WOULD BE JUST GREAT FOR THE BEAUTIFUL GAME OF RUGBY.
It's like varsity rugby in SA! Just fun to watch..
So Squidge, IF THAT IS YOUR REAL NAME... great to see another video uploaded. Keep it going...!
We need broadcasters who are not terrible stateside, just saying!
OMG this. I watch without announcers when it's an American on and I'm American. Sigh.
@@acchaladka Did you know that in American Football came from Rugby? Lol
Sadly I think I can point out a certain crew you are talking about. My NOLA Gold really can't get anyone else lol
@@misterblade4103 sadly I am talking about nearly all of them because they are forced to make it accessible which doesn't help anyone
Matt McCarthy did well for RUNY, I enjoyed him.
Atlanta in particular. cant go wrong with Harley Davidson on the wing.
yes, the Toronto Arrows are part of MLR. Canadians count as domestic players for all teams.
I really believe in, and hope that the World Cup in the US would push rugby into becoming a top 5 sport here
Love this video. once covid is done, come thru to the states!
Not only are they training the American team they’re also training the Canadian team most of Seattle’s team is based out of Vancouver and Langford shoutout to George Barton at 10:55
This was so validating as a US citizen and Rugby fan...
