Scales yesterday with his quick start passing was great with a few passes that unlocked Kilmarnock multiple times that we could have scored from a few times. Hatates movement is so key for us we can’t have him being injured as often this season.
Re Kyogo 2nd half penalty/non penalty incident: Have we had it clarified why it was not deemed worthy of a VAR review for a penalty. Surely it is a stonewaller? On this occasion it barely mattered as we already had the game won but that's besides the point, as there will be similar incidents in games throughout the season when it is 0-0 or 1-0 in a game and something like that happens. We need Referees & VAR officials to be in the habit of getting these decisions correct as a matter of routine, so that when it REALLY matters in a crucial game they'll also get it right. After the opening weekend fixtures I've already got zero confidence in the handball rule being applied consistently to every club. So I suppose we'll just need to take matters in to our own hands and score 4 or more in every game!
It's been good to see how well Scales has progressed, throughout last season and now at the start of this season he's looking solid. I know there are many who like to moan about him but as far as i'm concerned he has a lot of talent and a lot of potential to develop into a really consistent performer not only in the SPFL but also in Europe. His range of passing and his distribution is excellent, we saw that yesterday where he's the ball playing CB dictating play from the back He has some work to do in purely defensive technique but overall he'll be around at Celtic for years, maybe even a future captain.
Brilliant performance yesterday and if we keep this standard up we will see a super league campaign. Just that sprinkle of signings required now to top off. Here's hoping 🍀
I was at the game yesterday, we had a few moments where it went flat, Scales showed some bomb scare moments and passing that wasn’t on par, a decent game none the less. Kuhn looks great lighter faster more confident. If we keep up the intensity and clean up on the finishing while brining in a few more we will stream roll the league this season. Many positives but a lot of work still to do.
15:07 Kuhn also showed signs of what he’s showing now last season sadly in only about 1/3 of the games I think he’s in for a big season & thought so before we even got round to pre season
Let’s take a moment to realise how much scales game has improved under Brendan. I think he’s gonna owe his career to the gaffer. We need to sign a few ballers tho because by it’s obvious sevco have found the money to resign the SFA.
Cheers for the shout Hamish. An idea, why not go for Simon Kjaer? Yes he's 35 now but as a center half he could be the man to show the younger lads in that position how it's done. A leader and of course he's now on a free. Lawell will be loving that.
Played excellent yesterday,, every player played their part in a, what turned out to be a easy win. Hope Stevie hasn't cough a cold before heading of for his holidays 🤧 😆🍀HH🍀
McKenna in and Scales out would be my ideal scenario. I’d like him in as back up for another CB but Scales just signed a deal so I know that won’t happen.
One of Celtic's biggest problems last season was too many poor first halves. Scoring early and a couple in the first half make other teams change tacts.
Hi Hamish for someone who struggles to get match tickets could you make an appeal to your subscribers not to walk 20 minutes before the final whistle It's a poor look on TV and the team deserve more 18:39
Yes I was struck by that, watching yesterday. I had wondered whether these empty spaces had been there since kick off? In all the years I have been watching football, I have never once left a game early!
Liam Scales never MotM. He took his goal well but completely unmarked. He was given time on the ball and still didn't hit a Celtic man with several passes or get the ball out quickly enough. He was also bullied by Vassell on a few occasions too. Better opposition and he may have struggled. He played well for Liam Scales. Wouldn't confuse this with a MotM performance though. JF was excellent as was all 3 in middle. Kuhn still needs to show more. Also biggest issue is wingers defensive side - their ability to cover the full backs when needed - particularly in CL games where backs will be to the wall at times.
What a difference a year makes. The team looks full of confidence and were in control from the first whistle. Great to have the Celts back.

Great day again, I was there, never a doubt from minute 1 and another 4 goals spread across the team.
Good to see Liam Scales move and play the ball forward as he’s done through the friendlies
Do not want shankland at all. He would never be fit enough to play the Rodgers way.
A flag day TIFO or Champions league one is on the bucket list for me. Just a few thousand miles to get there.

Great job Hamish! Really like the analysis.

Morning Hamish bhoy 👍🏻🏴🇮🇪🇵🇸🍀

Yes he has improved, but his passing out of defence was still erratic. He will be punished for such sloppiness in European competition

Would have been nice to see Mcgregor running towards the goal in a Scotland shirt but Steve Clarke doesn't know how to score a goal.
Would it be controversial at this stage to say Scott McKenna isn't any better than Scales? We need better than that

No, but neither are top quality.

16;30 kick off on a Sunday isn't the best decision. Supporters will have reasons for leaving early.
