not to mention Dark star or halloween, he proved you can make an incredible movie with a really limited budget... which is the total opposite of the opinion nowadays.. incredible guy
for a moment I thought this wasnt the original soundtrack. I had to listen to the John Carpenters Greatest Hits CD I've got back to back with this and compare the two. Took a bit of time to realise that because the CD is pretty poor quality, its missing a lot of the top end, so those nice muddy bass sounds actually had a bit of crispness to them, they just dont come out on the CD. Either that or I'm drunk and dont know what I'm talking about. Most probably the latter.
Talk about the quintessential midnight movie. Love this film and almost everything done by John Carpenter.
Escape from New York is one of Carpenter's best
This soundtrack rocks, Carpenter and Howarth really nailed it when they wrote this music.
One of the most underrated films in History.
2024 still the best movie soundtrack
One of the best synthesizer-scores ever made! Prophet 5 rocks!!!
Is there a Moog modular on this?
In a time were every movie was owerhelmed with classical music, The Escape from New Yorrk came in 1981 as a revolution in movie music!
The 80s is...credits appearing on black background with carpenter synth.you knew you were in for a journey...
holy crap!
best era for synth based soundtracks

Don't forget Starman, Big Trouble in Little China, Prince of Darkness, etc.. John Carpenter was a fucking genius.
Sounds like dubstep @ 2:11. I'm suprised this music has not been sampled yet or maybe it has.

The music sounds a helluva lot like Tangerine Dream.
No man...its in its own League
Tangerine dream =good. Carpenter=best
I own pliskins gun from the first movie ;)
Who else noticed the shadow of the Grim Reaper on the lower part of building, to the right of the statues' face?
These are different mixes from what plays in the movies, did JC and pals remix them?
#7 is way too short. Anyone know of an extended version? On the other hand, I probably could splice it to the end of the main theme hmmm...
@PlowThrough8
no, that's Plissken

Wayne Whitted me too
This sounds like it be in a Sega Genesis game
That Liberty Statue head sure is one big fucking example of false advertising about a film.
Yes, for sure. I can't remember Plissken indifferently squatting in flames either.
Because he still has a career.
Escape from DF México
i want carpenter soul
"President of what?"
It,s not the original movie poster !!
Mein Name ist Snake Plissken. Mein Cousin heisst Michael Pliske ;-)
Yeh,it seems.Fortunetly the song is original....
