Neutron star collision is thought to create the environment necessary for the nucleosynthesis of nearly half of the elements heavier than iron through a process known as rapid neutron capture. We can now detect these collisions by the the gravitational waves they emit through the LIGO instrument in Louisiana and Washington state. I read somewhere that one collision was thought to produce three Earths worth of gold or 18 x 10^24 kilograms (39,415,200,000,000,000,000,000,000 pounds - I think I did the math right) Anyway I wanted to make sure I had that right and just came across this in Business Insider (Oct 16, 2017) "Observations revealed the event forged roughly 50 Earth masses' worth of silver, 100 Earth masses of gold, and 500 Earth masses of platinum." So my original 3 Earth masses is on the low end of what is possible.
@@g00bleck About half are made in neutron start collisions. The rest are the 24 elements currently on periodic table that are man made in particle accelerators, nuclear reactors or through the detonation of an atomic weapon.

The biggest structures in the universe are planets a simple beginning, as age, they become giants rolling around outer space many times under the care of several stars and when the conditions are right they will become stars... Stars do not come from the accumulation of dust clouds, there must be a solid foundation when the core of the gas giant planet exceeds 10,000,000 deg. centigrade may be a star born, or it may be shot live. There is no solid foundation within stars. And yes, they absolutely form from collective cosmic dust clouds, i.e. nebula and ignite once nuclear fusion begins.
