Great video. I didn’t see your favorite shoes yet because I saw so many such videos coming up in feed but I clicked on this to see your different take what didn’t work. Keep making videos like this that stand out. Not for the hate for those shoes, but these perspective can help us know what we need and also not craving for more shoes and be happy with what we have (your video just made me to not get any more shoes considering that I’ve two SB2 I got lightly used and seems it can replace all shoes that you mentioned here ) Thank you and happy new year.
The Hyperion Max 2 was my favourite shoe of the year. Great upper and laces, perfect midsole in terms of stability and protection. In the UK they are competitively priced and the Superblast is practically unobtainable (and on paper too narrow in the toe box for me). Each to their own.
@richardcane5682 can definitely see that- if it matched the Boston or the deviate over here It'd be a much tamer judgement I reckon- don't know why Brooks is so expensive here
@Raucherbeinknacker I'm actually starting to be suspicious- the American reception on the whole has been very positive, but I'd say it hasn't taken off here. Open to the idea 😁
My worst running shoe 2024 superblast 2 my best shoe was Hyperion max 2 Did a 10k in 39mins with it. If you have been a long distance runner for a while you must know not everything works for everyone. Superblast 2 and triumph 22 hit me hard on the wallet this year Cheers from Canada. After 10kms session they wouldn’t take them back .
Completely agree with you. Yes it’s a firm shoe but I find it superb for intervals and tempo runs. Very protective and stable also and I’m a lightweight runner. But hey, we all have our preferences which is why we should always try a shoe out for ourselves rather than just base purchases on reviews.
Nimbus was the worst shoe I've had and gave me knee pain and toe numbness. There is a wide elasticated band which makes the shoe feel tight, hot and claustrophobic. And as you say they feel clunky. Novablast 4 is an order of magnitude better in every regard
Absolutely trash. I bought Nimbus 25 last year and decided to use it as a walking/lifestyle shoe. It's dead underfoot. It must be one of the most overrated shoe ever.
The Hyperion max 2 I like a lot. It’s so steady on those tempo runs… like it just keeps rolling you along and it makes it easy to maintain an even pace. It’s not a racer or a very slow jogger.
I absolutely hated these shoes at first. Gave me foot pain even. I stuck with it to see if either my feet could get used to them or it would feel better after breaking them in. They felt sooooo much better after about the 45k mark. My favorite running shoes now for tempo training. They feel very protective and helps maintain pace. Heavier runner at 84kg
100% agree with you on the invincible 3. I was so disappointed with how the shoe felt and performed, way too heavy and felt it had zero energy return so it felt like you were running with bricks on your feet. Put 50 miles on my pair before I gave up giving them a chance, makes for ok casual wear shoe but as a running shoe it completely misses the mark.
I was watching your video as I was lacing up my new Speed 4s thinking ...hmm, it's a bit narrow. However, after 10k I totally forgot about the narrowish fit as the upper is flexible and there were no issues. Sure, I'd prefer the last a tad wider but still an excellent shoe and great when you get it with a 40% discount. I'm hearing you about the lack of value of some shoes you mentioned. A lot is just so much hype to artificially inflate the price of a shoe. Interestingly, I think the Mizuno Neo Vista falls in this category because it is selling at almost $100 less (converted from Yen) in Japan which tells me something about its true value. I paid $240 for my pair but I regret the purchase.
@dreamcatcherfan1382 i do agree- definitely has the flexibility to be a bit more forgiving but for me my whole forefoot went completely numb even after 30km of running, so with other shoes in waiting I wasn't willing to risk suffering any longer 😅 I'm also with you for the vista- maybe a bit ambitious with 320, probably would have done really well at 280/290, it's looking like the next version might fill that value out a bit better
A lot of people had very negative immediate reactions when trying on the Nike Invincible. The common complaint was that it felt like it was pushing one out of the shoe near the heel
Fun seeing such honesty...very few reviewers seem willing...so much overhype of mediocre shows. I disagree with you about a couple things but it's personal preference and use: I think the Cielo is just incredible, the energy return and bounce make up for the slight extra weight. I might not do an all out race in it (I'll use my new APro4 for that), but for virtually everything else it's stellar and still feels new after 120mi. I don't get the Superblast, seems like all the bounce is from the heel and I only feel propulsion running downhill. It's also way to built up of an upper and feels like a moon boot. I like sleek and nimble. (Same reason I don't like the Zoom Fly 6, to me the most over-hyped shoe right now. Love your reviews!
I love the midsole of the Invincible 3 but despise the upper lol. One of the worst uppers I've ever worn. It's stiff, overly rigid, scratchy with that silly plasticky feeling and not very breathable. It's a heavy shoe but I feel like the bounciness of the ZoomX helps take some of the weight off a bit. Not a fan of the thick, hard, waffle style outsole which dampen and mute the midsole though
Funnily enough I have three pairs of shoes that I all like, and you have listed two of them 🙂. Note: I have very little frame of reference since I only started running seriously this year, but I got the Brooks Hyperion Max 2 this summer and liked the feel of it a lot, even though I do understand your criticism. The ride is a bit firm, but that actually felt good to me (even though I am a light runner). When buying the shoe, I had tried on some others that were generally accepted to be very good, like the Saucony Endorphin Speed 4, but many of the other shoes felt a bit squishy to me. The shoe is also more competitively priced in the Netherlands at 170 euros. I also lent the shoes to a colleague who was starting running, and he liked them so much he wanted a plated shoe as well. Then I also got the Nike Invincible 3 in a Black Friday deal (only 129 euros!) and I find them comfortable for my easy runs, without feeling slow.
@adriaantermors8122 that's great to hear- don't let me rain on your parade, most of this is very subjective 😁good luck with this next year of running 🫡
How many kms did you put into the Hyperion Max 2? I hated them at first, it took me about 200kms to break them in, which is crazy. Now they’re spot on. I mainly used them as a daily, I have others for speed work
@stevanmusulin9457 i gave them 40km- before this video- did another 10km after and still didn't like them 😅 for me I didn't want to commit even more suffering when I have great shoes out the box 😁
I had the same issue with the Saucony, very narrow and I had to return it back... Shoe companies should by now understand there should be wide versions of the shoes they know are narrow, because they know when they've got narrow shoes in their catalog..
Thr Edge Paris was wonderful for me. What I found interesting was that it seemed the vast majority recommendee the Edge initially and then reverted the the Sky by the end of year reviews. Not sure why.
Bro we tried and disliked almost all the same shoes last year lol. Speed 4 is interesting, my gf gifted me that shoe 1/2 size up from my usual by accident and I thought it was my normal size 10 when I tried it on. I think they did do something to make it fit more narrow on this version.
I agree with the nimbus, i had the 25s and decided to upgrade to the 26s but the comfiness has disappeared and looking back i should have tried the other dailys which is why i got the Zoom fly 6s and next is superblast
Wow! No love for the Hyperion Max 2. I love that shoe. I am a heavier runner and also a heel striker. The plate and foam are perfectly placed for me and propels me forward. I use this shoe for all my speed workouts and my shorter 5 - 10K races. I also have the Superblast, but I feel that is more for longer "cruising" miles and (half/marathon) races.
@PhilipWatts-q5r fair play- I guess subjectivity always plays a part- it does just bother me that they overcharge so much for the eva stuff- this could be a decent shoe for 240/250 but instead everything's over by $40/50. Glad it's worked out for you though- hyperion Max 3 looks like a shoe we can all look forward to 😁
I am curious with the Hyperion Max 3 if the new foam with higher stack and side cutout will work for me. I like the response I get with the 2 without being too soft. Will have to wait until July to find out.
Superblast this year again did not fit me well. Half a size down would make it too small. For that reason alone it became one of my least favorite shoes. On running Cloudsurfer next was way too uncomfortable and firm. I did not get the point. On Cloudmonster Hyper made my forefoot sink into the foam without any energy return otherwise the limited version was the best looking sneaker I had ever seen. On Cloudeclipse did not work for me for some reason. Saucony Speed 4 was ok but I expected more. Other least favorites were Kinvara pro (lack out outsole), Rebel V4 (V3 was much better), Velocity Nitro 3 (A bit too firm otherwise would have been a great shoe). I think 2024 was the best year for supershoes especially DNE3 the two Asics, Alpha fly Vapor fly 3 saucony pro 4, elite 2, and Adidas Pro 4 were all amazing.
@snowwalker9999 i also found the superblast short- which is weird because the original was that little bit longer, great points through there as well, i dodged cloudsurfer next- looked hard hard 😁
Could not disagree with you more about the Brooks Hyperion Max 2. I have 350 miles on my pair. I use them as a daily trainer and like them. I must admit there was a bit of a break in time. I bought them when they first came out in July 2024 and they are still going strong in Jan 1, 2025. They are cheaper in the USA at 180.00.
@williamreynolds3445 I'm thinking I might need to revisit them- a lot of people mention they break in well, I had about 40km in them before I threw in the towel (heaps of other shoes to reveiw, risky to keep pushing) might be worth another hour or so 😁
Had the same thoughts myself. I have a shoe rotation and could make a video of the shoes I don’t have (and put a pic of it), and show the ones I have. Strange, we can smell when something doesn’t add up. Its quite a hefty list.
Ok - first- im 50yo - started to run seriously at 49yo - my weight at about 100kg - hybrid athlete - lifting weights and having athlete body over running performance (skinny/fat body) is on top for me - - brooks hyperion max 2 - one of the best trainers for faster runs, honestly not best for slower everyday runs but still in my top of 2004 - yes as all brooks it is overpriced... - nimbus 26 (25 better imo) - one of the best everyday runner for heavier runner - only problem is asics is $hit with colorways... and very hot for Au conditions (had only 1 novablast - it was ver3 - never ever again novablast.... - agree - nike invincible- is tot rubbish for me - nothing special just overhyped brick ... - Saucony speed series - its good for heavier runner if run is not longer than 1h - and honestly not so good at speed work if you have Saucony pro on the shelf 😊 - NB sc trainer - dont have it but price in Au made it pointless compared to elite v4 ... - rebel v4 - way better daily for me than ever Saucony speed could be .... - asics metaspeed - not for me - awesome shoe but way better options on the market for slower bigger runner... - on - not running shoes in my book 😅 - puma - great offerings - but pls avoid unless you have narrow foot. . - hoka - as principle myself will never buy another hoka after my experience with bondi 6 😅 - under armour - will leave that to thirsty runners ... @tkwasik some good thoughts in there mate- appreciate that, definitely a different ball game when you pack a bit of extra muscle mass hey- 78kg of crago isn't making a dent in some shoes which feel great for some of the absolute units out there- happy new year 😄
I had to retire my Nimbus to just walking after 50 or so miles. For me it was so mushy that it felt like running in sand and taxes my stabilizers in my ankles so much that it provided no recovery or protection.
Invincible is so disappointing, that heel cup is an abomination, and the weight too. The Endorphin Speed 4 had me so disappointed, the 3 is legendary, and the 4 just didn’t feel that good in store to try, especially right next to my 3’s (yes I know a little worn in feels different, but shouldn’t feel like something completely different) Elite v4 had me so upset, had to return it, was just a horrid upper, otherwise it was excellent, the trainer v3 however is brilliant bar a tiny bit heavy. I’ve always hated ON, even working in run specialty years ago, the reps tried to have us like them with free shoes etc, just could never like them, and they’re still no different I feel, they’ve come along way, but all their shoes have faults that will always lead to buying a different option in whatever area you need. For me the Hoka Mach 6 was a disappointment. Picked it over the ES4 for a more daily training option and have been let down by the foam feeling dead for me, put 250km in it and it’s now a gym shoe, so at least it gets 3km in each week going to and from the gym 😂 but yeah overrated I feel, and a Pegasus plus or rebel are far better. Love your opinions as always
The shoes you criticized & only presented an image of and not the actual shoe, did your return the shoe? Why do you keep $300 shoes you criticize as being no good? Brooks, NB, Asics - if you bought the shoe through one of their resellers, all these companies will accept a return and give you a full refund or replace the shoe with another model (they will force their resellers to honor the return if necessary) and that's even after a couple months of ownership and 100+ miles on the shoe. They know runners rotate shoes and might only wear a shoe 8-10 times over the course of a couple months, they know shoes take time to break in and that some lose support and fall apart early. I've never heard of a shoe company not willing to stand behind their product if you define where and how you feel in your opinion the shoe failed you. They actually appreciate well articulated feedback - which you clearly do. Shoes cost too much to not hold companies accountable if a model does not work out for you and live up to the promise in the selling of the shoe to you, return them if they don't work out...
@AgileAEO most of them I'll either sell on marketplace or give away to mates cheap- i got a fair few off running warehouse cheaper so no returns once worn there, and a couple i got second hand- worn for 10km or less. Also got sent 2 or 3 by brands themselves. Only kept the hyperion and a few others as I live on a farm during the summer and am waiting to be back in the city to do a big shoe clearout 😁
@Wildbrooker4304 that's good going there- I got about 60/70k out of mine and felt like they were pretty much cooked through the forefoot- the update looks a bit more promising
I’ve Rebel v4 in my list but already own two Superblast 2. Was also looking to get Zoom Fly 6. But from your comment, seems I can just wait getting more miles in SB2 and get the ZF6 later on sale
My guess is it's Nike first attempt at making a durable ZoomX meant for training. It's denser, hence the weight and slightly better durability, though Nike has kind of improved the formulation with the ZoomX in the Peg Plus.

Hyperion’s foam seems to work better for heavier runners, even then, it needed alot of breaking in to get it to its working state.
The Hyperion max 2 I like a lot. It’s so steady on those tempo runs… like it just keeps rolling you along and it makes it easy to maintain an even pace. It’s not a racer or a very slow jogger.

I don’t trust any shoe reviewer if they say the invincible 3 are good daily trainers lol
@@tray3483 Not everyone has issues with the heel though. I’ve never had an issue with them, love them for all easy runs.
I like the Hyperion max 2 but I appreciate the honesty.
Thank you. Most other "reviewers" sound like they're selling shoes. Brand-friendly, not necessarily consumer friendly.
Fun seeing such honesty...very few reviewers seem willing...so much overhype of mediocre shows. I disagree with you about a couple things but it's personal preference and use:

Congrats on the 1k subs mate
I love the midsole of the Invincible 3 but despise the upper lol. One of the worst uppers I've ever worn. It's stiff, overly rigid, scratchy with that silly plasticky feeling and not very breathable. It's a heavy shoe but I feel like the bounciness of the ZoomX helps take some of the weight off a bit. Not a fan of the thick, hard, waffle style outsole which dampen and mute the midsole though
@mrne1433 yeah the outsole does a lot of the damage I reckon- hoping Nike will thin the outsoles out this year
Funnily enough I have three pairs of shoes that I all like, and you have listed two of them 🙂. Note: I have very little frame of reference since I only started running seriously this year, but I got the Brooks Hyperion Max 2 this summer and liked the feel of it a lot, even though I do understand your criticism.

Thr Edge Paris was wonderful for me. What I found interesting was that it seemed the vast majority recommendee the Edge initially and then reverted the the Sky by the end of year reviews. Not sure why.
@derringera did notice that a bit- few people seemed to convert back, maybe it needed more of a break in
Edge Paris is a young brother of Sky Tokyo. Sky Paris is a comfy shoe but too much foam below the flat plate to be as agressive as Edge Paris.
Great stuff! Appreciate the brutal honesty!
The Pacer V2 chewed through my Achilles.
Bro we tried and disliked almost all the same shoes last year lol.
Speed 4 is interesting, my gf gifted me that shoe 1/2 size up from my usual by accident and I thought it was my normal size 10 when I tried it on. I think they did do something to make it fit more narrow on this version.

Had the same experience in the invincible!! And for a stability shoe the stability was just not there
Superblast this year again did not fit me well. Half a size down would make it too small. For that reason alone it became one of my least favorite shoes. Was not a big fan of the rebel. I’m a bigger runner at 200lbs and always felt that I was running on the ground with that shoe.
Had the same thoughts myself. I have a shoe rotation and could make a video of the shoes I don’t have (and put a pic of it), and show the ones I have. Strange, we can smell when something doesn’t add up. Its quite a hefty list.
Ok - first- im 50yo - started to run seriously at 49yo - my weight at about 100kg - hybrid athlete - lifting weights and having athlete body over running performance (skinny/fat body) is on top for me -
- brooks hyperion max 2 - one of the best trainers for faster runs, honestly not best for slower everyday runs but still in my top of 2004 - yes as all brooks it is overpriced...
- Saucony speed series - its good for heavier runner if run is not longer than 1h - and honestly not so good at speed work if you have Saucony pro on the shelf 😊
- NB sc trainer - dont have it but price in Au made it pointless compared to elite v4 ...
- rebel v4 - way better daily for me than ever Saucony speed could be ....
- asics metaspeed - not for me - awesome shoe but way better options on the market for slower bigger runner...
- on - not running shoes in my book 😅
- puma - great offerings - but pls avoid unless you have narrow foot. .
- hoka - as principle myself will never buy another hoka after my experience with bondi 6 😅
- under armour - will leave that to thirsty runners ... (myself zero interest)
- great chanel- my favourite find of recent- keep up good work 👏
@tkwasik some good thoughts in there mate- appreciate that, definitely a different ball game when you pack a bit of extra muscle mass hey- 78kg of crago isn't making a dent in some shoes which feel great for some of the absolute units out there- happy new year 😄
I don't have narrow feet and the deviate nitro 2 fits me just fine, hoka on the other hand is a different story. they do offer wide versions though.
Man I love the ASICS Gel Nimbus… Interesting. It makes me run slower which I like- Novablast gives me ground feel after 10 miles. Just me?
@colinking5742 novablast 3 definitely bottomed out early- the four got a bit deeper for me but then I guess I always go superblast instead 😅
@ I have 2 sb2’s…. First pair is at about 200 miles and the second is in a box waiting for the call.
I had to retire my Nimbus to just walking after 50 or so miles. For me it was so mushy that it felt like running in sand and taxes my stabilizers in my ankles so much that it provided no recovery or protection.
I love the nimbus, it’s like running on marshmallows

Picked it over the ES4 for a more daily training option and have been let down by the foam feeling dead for me, put 250km in it and it’s now a gym shoe, so at least it gets 3km in each week going to and from the gym 😂 but yeah overrated I feel, and a Pegasus plus or rebel are far better.
Love your opinions as always
Bad Purchases. Nothing more. Good luck with your journey.
Yeah bit unlucky- small losses amongst a good crop of shoes for the year
The shoes you criticized & only presented an image of and not the actual shoe, did your return the shoe?
I'm lucky, I can run in pretty much any shoe. 😊
Goes to show take other people opinions with a grain of salt .
Speed 4 is a great shoe.
@fgsaiffe totally agree, just need more width through that toe box
Had the rebel on my list, put 400km through them to realise I can just jog in my superblasts or zoom fly 6s. Got my moneys worth at least.
I disagree with EVERYTHING you say but we are all different.
@brady6721 haha fair play- hope the rest of my reveiws prove a bit more useful 😂
Don’t buy Brooks
Whyyy
Maybe you got victim of china fake products? 🤔🤣
@Raucherbeinknacker haha some of them felt like it 😂
Interesting point of view.
I don’t understand why zoomx is so different in the invincible 3
My guess is it's Nike first attempt at making a durable ZoomX meant for training. It's denser, hence the weight and slightly better durability, though Nike has kind of improved the formulation with the ZoomX in the Peg Plus.
