    It’s so funny how Messi always wants to prove himself vs Pep
    Pep went to Bayern, Messi then Obliterated Bayern in 2015 with 2 world class goals and a great assist in the UCL semis.
    Pep went to Man City, Messi then scored a hattrick & made an assist on his ass in the group. Scored again in the next game (which pep won 1-3)
    Messi then went to PSG and his debut goal for PSG is an absolute stunner against Pep’s Man City to win 2-0 (pep won the next game tho)

  • @blueanteaterr

    This game fills me with both joy and anger. Watching Messi get 50 league goals is history unlikely to be matched in our lifetimes. So many of these players were amazing and defining in my formative years watching football. But the fact that Pep only spent 4 years at Barça - with this group, with Messi - is a sham and a stain on the clubs history and will remain so forever. Barça had the best player at least in modern history, an all time great core squad full of World Cup winners that all came from their academy that didn’t cost a cent (and they kept producing more every year), and a coach that knew exactly how to maximise their talents and guess what? They forced him out of the club. Every other club would’ve done anything and everything to keep Guardiola and Messi together. They deliberately sabotaged the club by allowing Pep to walk away. Look at what he’s done at Man City. Sad. Anyway, this game is brilliant.

      did he have a fallout with club executives?

    • @blueanteaterr
      @blueanteaterr ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@gregehirim9974 Rosell didn’t like Pep. Mainly because he thought he was a big supporter of Laporta, who Rosell hated. The idea at the time was that Barça (Pep) wanted to revamp the squad a little bit (he lost trust in Pique, he didn’t think Fàbregas had lived up to expectations, wanted competition for Alves, so on) but Rosell opposed this. He made life much tougher than it should’ve been for Pep. He couldn’t see beyond a personal rivalry. He brought in a lot of money to Barça to revert their debt (a lot of it unethical/scummy though) but a year after Pep left he illegally funded the Neymar deal and was sent to prison. Pep could probably see little by little the direction the club were headed and left. And look - he was right. Of course Pep explained it as being too stressful a job and he’d ran out of energy and ideas. I believe it was a massively demanding job, but the right board would’ve kept him. They’d have convinced him somehow. Laporta had his flaws, but he loved the club and knew how good the opportunity for the team was. Rosell only cared about the brand and money, hence why he did everything to get Neymar but wasn’t bothered about the greatest coach Barça have ever had leaving during the most important period in the clubs history.

      @@blueanteaterr wow thanks for the insight💯 cos back then i felt like pep’s decision to quit was abrupt and came out of nowhere, i didn’t know that so much was happening behind the scene.

    • @blueanteaterr
      @blueanteaterr ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@gregehirim9974 it was probably a decision that had been brewing for a while. I think Pep could tolerate Rosell, but Pep is a control freak. Laporta gave him the ability to make all of the big decisions. Rosell did not. He wasn’t a sports guy, he was a business man. The sporting decisions made post Pep are a testament to this, like signing Alex Song when Barça had the best DMs in the world (????). Made no sense. Then they sell Thiago for virtually nothing and pass on Kroos for €30m. Pathetic. Not signing Thiago Silva in 2010 when he’s available because they didn’t want to spend €40m. Even though Abidal had cancer and Puyol was older and had knee surgery. It’s a catalogue of errors much longer than just this that has put Barça in the position they’re in now.

      @@blueanteaterrAn even greater travesty was the early and tragic demise of Tito Villanova, who managed to lead Barcelona to a 100 point title winning season and would've surely won the champions league but by the semi final he was on his death bed and with Messi's injury and the general doom and gloom around the club the team had lost it's motivation and lost the semifinals to Bayern. The team was more and less in safe hands with Tito but alas the football world lost a gem far too early. Who knows how bright he would've shone had fate given him more time here. To me his loss was greater to Barcelona than Pep's.
