    The only guitarist in the world that can play that song that fast and still interpret it beautifully. To stay in the groove at that speed is world class.

    This is the best interpretation I have heard of this suite on guitar. I've had the privilege of playing for David in three different master classes. He's a great teacher. This man just owns everything he does. Even when demonstrating passages for myself and the other students every time the sound was pure magic. Very kind and enjoyable person, but he's just on another level.

    I attended a recital by Maestro Russell a couple of years ago. If he isn't the best classical guitarist in the world then he is certainly a contender.

      Nowadays he has taken the mantle IMO, Isbin is right there but his master classes and video tutorials are also excellent such a gracious man.

      Three years later: here I am, thinking the same exact thing. I also never heard a guitar with this beautiful cembalo-like sound quality before. BTW, your cat looks familiar. I think I saw you around on a cat channel. Maybe Maru, or Catmantoo, or Robin Seplut, or perhaps one of the many others . . .

    I guess if god has laid his hands on his eyes when he was born, there is this great magic on his hands, I've heard a lot of great players but he is always 3 notch above everyone else, my favourit guy to listen to at any time, "god, I pray to make him live for long".

    the guitar transcription was transcritped by Bach himself?

    • @137uc14
      @137uc14  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No.It´s David Russell´s transcription.

    • @frededberg6893

      The modern guitar did not exist when Bach lived (1685-1750). The first versions of the modern classical guitar were created about 1850 +/- a few years. The lute was the next closest available instrument -- eg; there is nothing written by JS Bach that was written [or transcribed] for guitar. It all came from lute suites, cello suites, violin pieces, etc.

    • @JaxonBurn
      @JaxonBurn 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@frededberg6893 I would say Baroque guitars, which existed in the early 1600s and possibly earlier, are closer to modern classical guitars than lutes.

      137uc14 Ya viste la de Frank Koonce? Realmente no existe una transcripción mejor o peor que otra en el caso de que la composición no sea original del instrumento, sino aquella que más se adecue a tus expectativas. Este preludio es complicado por donde se lo mire jaja

    I have always loved high williams rendition as recorded at the Alcazar palace however this one is giving it a run for its money as my favorite. Most people play this way too fast for my taste.

    Es original para laúd, no para violín

    • @hectorjazz7
      @hectorjazz7 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      no estoy completamente seguro de esto..según historiadores, fue originalmente concebida para violín y transcrita mas tarde para Laud por el propio Bach (es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partita_para_viol%C3%ADn_solo_n.%C2%BA_3,_BWV_1006)

    • @elsamuel117
      @elsamuel117 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Efectivamente como dice el sujeto del comentario anterior. Bach la compuso originalmente para violín después el mismo hizo una transcripción para un amigo suyo que tocaba el laúd.

    I love Russel, and I think he's a great person and musician. But he generally rushes too much in these recordings, especially in 1006a. Or at least he puts himself on the front end of the beat repeatedly, probably on purpose, and I find it makes me anxious.

    • @PianoOwl
      @PianoOwl 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rob Watson lmao it’s originally a violin piece. It’s meant to be fast.

    • @rdubb77
      @rdubb77 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      LMAO, you apparently do not understand the difference between fast and rushing. Glenn Gould is "fast." Hillary Hahn is "fast." Russel is rushing. LIKE I SAID, I respect Russel tremendously. If you want to hear a guitarist playing this "fast" and not rushing, check out Manuel Barrueco, or John Williams.

    • @PianoOwl
      @PianoOwl 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rob Watson no my friend, it’s you who doesn’t understand. He’s playing it fast and everything is fully under control. So long as he’s able to play flawlessly and he’s phrasing well, you cannot say he’s rushing. But yes I agree that Williams playing this piece is probably the best performance I’ve seen in my life.

    • @rdubb77
      @rdubb77 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PianoOwl Man I really disagree with you. SO many instances of rushing to the end of phrases, I can count a few just in the Loure. I perform this suite, on guitar, currently, and from memory. So I'd at least say I have some credibility...

      @@PianoOwl Williams is for sure a legendary virtuoso. Russell's tone is superior to me. Something about Williams' tone keeps me from favoring him Can I say tinny? Thin? That's the closest I can explain it.
