      I am not sure if you know and just wanted to comment - it probably stems from the fact that Chinese claims that Korean culture is from China - Chinese claimed that hanbok or kimchi are from their culture (Winter Olympics 2022).
      I am not an ARMY but the BTS leader, RM, received hate and racism from Chinese when he didn't include China when RM spoke about US-SK relationship.
      Since Wonyoung is the representative of 4th gen kpop right now due to her popularity, I kinda get it why they don't want a Chinese, to be a "representative".

    • @musicalala
      @musicalala 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mr.a9696 I had heard about the kimchi and Hanbok issue but didn't know it stemmed from the Olympics timeframe. I don't agree with one culture/country making claims to another. Definitely not necessary or right. I'm not sure it warrants any backlash on a young girl and don't see how it relates to her as a GG member. She is pretty far-removed from that situation. The BTS situation. I don't know anything about that but there will always be things like that unfortunately. It can come from any group of people. Definitely should not reflect on an entire ethnic group. Thank you for bringing this to my attention however. I can't say I agree that Wonyoung should be mistreated or discriminated against even if she turns out to have Chinese ancestry. It would be a shame if all the idols from China receive hate over something someone else does. To me it's not ok on any level. S.Korean artists appear in China too and it would be just as terrible if they were treated poorly because they aren't Chinese. I know Lee Kwang Soo,IU,Kim Jungkook,and scores of other actors and entertainers perform in China. Anyways, not much more for me to say.

    I don’t know much abt South Korea and am laying this out as a POSSIBILITY but Jang Wonyoung which is a Korean name translated to Chinese is “Zhang Yuan Ying” also names translated to Chinese usually becomes a more Chinese like name or pronunciation especially that of Korean names.
    For example: Im Nayeon 임나연 becomes 林娜妍 Li Na Yan
    Or the other way round: 黄仁俊Huang Renjun becomes Hwang Injoon 황인준 (and if you don’t know, Injoon is Renjun’s Korean name and what his fellow NCT Dream members call him)
    Also apparently South Koreans have name meanings according to Chinese characters (since Koreans used to use Chinese characters in writings as well but later developed their own writing) and ppl might know what I’m talking abt if you’ve watched IZ*ONE on Knowing Bros in episode 178
    The hosts of the show asked IZ*ONE Minju (who claimed/ pretended to be Jo Yuri fellow member) what characters she uses for her name “Yuri”. She ofc didn’t know that and cutely ended up saying Glass for Yuri’s “Yu” and Village for “Ri” then everybody laughed and addressed her as ok Miss “Glass Village” Yuri
    So I’m just saying maybe Wonyoung’s name was just accidentally translated to Chinese and that this is just a huge misunderstanding? I know it sounds far fetched with rumours of her parents’ apparent address names and ethnicity whatnot. But this has always been my take on Wonyoung being rumoured to be of Chinese descent since b4 her official debut as IZ*ONE.
    AGAIN IM NOT FLUENT IN KOREAN I just know how to read write and understand a lil of it Chinese however I know nothing of. Im just laying this out as a possibility.

    Let’s clear something up here: Jang Wonyoung’s dad/grandparents are NOT from Taiwan. They were very likely from SHANDONG in the Northern Chinese mainland, a Chinese province which is literally RIGHT NEXT to Korea. This is reflected in her looks/physique too, as Shandong Chinese (Northern/Central Chinese) and Koreans share a very, very similar skin tone/phenotype. Taiwanese people are Southern Han Chinese, with a markedly different, darker skin tone complexion, which would be more noticeable in Wonyoung’s face.
    Wonyoung’s parents/grandparents were Republic of China citizens, which in the past was still based on the Chinese mainland, and NOT in Taiwan (yet). True, the Republic of China government is based on Taiwan TODAY, but that was NOT the case in the past, which was THE era in which mass immigrations to neighboring countries like Korea happened, eventually resulting in descendants like Jang Wonyoung.
    The vast majority of people from that era (like Jang Wonyoung’s family) with Republic of China passports who immigrated to Korea did so via SHANDONG province on the Chinese mainland near the north, aka the Chinese province which is literally right next to Korea. NOT Taiwan!
    If you think about it, immigrating from Shandong → South Korea makes a LOT more logical/geographic sense than immigrating alllllll the way from Taiwan → South Korea.
    CONCLUSION: If there is someone with ancestors who hold Republic of China citizenship from the early 20th century, they are likely NOT from Taiwan, and are instead from an area within mainland China. If the person in question is from Korea (or another part of Northeast Asia), is it very likely that their ancestors were from a neighboring part of China, aka Northern China.

    In the us school system standards what “grade” is grade 3 year 1? I’m asking because is this like this year type bullying or years ago. As someone that was bullied in school do I have the “forgive and forget” attitude to ever be friends with my past bullies no, but I’m more of an I don’t like you but I don’t know you anymore so I don’t care about your life. I wouldn’t go out of my way to bring up the past and “ruin” someone’s life. What would my goal be?? Payback? That does nothing for me but make me a bully. Regardless if that person had change or is still a poop hole as long as their not hurting anyone currently or me anymore,I don’t care.

      I don’t know if this helps, but Garam would be 12 years old at that time, she’s now 16 years old.

    • @raven8358
      @raven8358 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@littledevilangel200 There isn’t proof of that, it’s a speculation. And even so, what type of job should the “girlie” have then, that you think would be more appropriate for something she did in the past that she received punishment according to her schools rules for. I’m not defending her actions if she did it. But the crucifixion of an underage girl by randoms just doesn’t make sense to me. Do ppl not self reflect and ssee how they are also bulling? The same type of ppl that don’t understand that jail is supposed to be for rehabilitation not a death sentence. I’m not saying you in particular are bullying her btw.

      In South Korea they take bullying very seriously, they're very sentimental about it and not all victims are same, we don't know how it truly affected them.
