Really nice video, will be using it to show new players how to make their characters. One thing for buying your equipment is you add your 15GB and once you open the Equipment browser and find the item you want to purchase there are some coin icons on the far right, if you click on that it will automatically deduce the money from your inventory and give you the items. Great video!
Nice video, thanks for making it! I can provide some insight to a few things. When you make a new actor with a blank name Foundry appends a number based on how many actors are in the world, not just ones named "new actor" like you'd expect. In PF2e every world comes with a party actor pre-made (it acts like a folder, but it's its own actor type and multiple parties can be made). That's why you see the (2) on the first actor you make. Since it only applies to making actors with no name it only rarely comes up. The spell prep window moving on dragging a spell looks like a rendering bug, we can fix that. For buying equipment on the compendium browser there is a coin button on the right side of each item line, that will buy the item, adding it to the assigned character's inventory and subtracting off the cost automatically. To the right of the tabs across the character sheet is a 3 dot menu where you can disable tabs you don't need. If you don't have spells or crafting, or aren't playing in PFS you can just make those tabs go away, which can be good for new players not familiar with the icons yet. All of this stuff is subject to change, in particular skill management and spellcasting entries are quite rough right now. It's an area we want to improve on, but we're all volunteer devs. So, it's just down to us having the time and motivation to tackle some of the harder problems left to do.
Thanks @TikaelSol ! I appreciate the comment and the tips you added! The New Actor (2) label was something that rerely comes up for me as well and and your explanation certainly answers the question. I've really only ever run into it when I'm not sure what I'm making yet and have not settled on a name. One other commenter had mentioned the coin button and I can't believe that I've never seen it. I guess I've always been manually subtracting the cost of items as I purchase them. I did know about the three button menu and probably should have highlighted it. I really appreciate all the hard work that the devs for the Pathfinder 2E System put in and it is apparent in the amount of updates that come out and just how smooth the play experience is. Small bugs are sometimes the worst and the hardest to find. In my opinion the P2E system is so streamlined and automated compared to other VTTs that it is a system that I would hate to play without! Don
Thanks for the comment and for watching! I do use Pathmuncher and I did have it in my Pathbuilder 2E video (the one prior to this video) originally and then I was contacted by some Pathfinder 2E devs that character importers can break the system occasionally. It is not something that I have run into but I thought I'd show how to do it manually as a way that can be done. Plus this also shows how you would build a character from scratch directly in Foundry. Don
The cleric fonts are supported by the module. You change the type to Spontaneous, and then you can have 4 charges of a single heal spell. (Edited for clarity, see replies)
Thanks for the comment! I have been playing around this morning and so far, although I might be doing something different than you, I haven't found that to work with just a clean install of the base Foundry (11 Stable Build 315) and Pathfinder 2e (5.11.5). I'm not using any modules for this guide so it will be the most universal. If I create a Focus entry it's no different than the way aside from I don't have to uncheck the visibility of things with no rank. I wonder if that is part of a module like PF2E Workbench? Don
@@slystrategist Yeah, it should work without any modules installed. Just raw Foundry V11 Build 315 and PF2E 5.11.5. I misspoke a bit though, really sorry about that! I was going from memory and my memory was a bit wrong :D. If you pick Spontaneous with Divine as the Magic tradition and Wisdom as the Key attribute this sets you up for Divine Font. I was wrong about it automatically being named Font though. Looking at the Kyra Iconic from the Compendium, I'm guessing they just manually renamed the category to "Divine Font (Healing)" and that must be what I did for my character as well.
@@slystrategist You are welcome, sorry for any confusion!!! As a side note, I find it really helpful to reference the Iconics in the Compendium of Foundry as examples for setting up a class. I'm not 100% sure if they are fully migrated to Remaster yet though. I know they have been moving them, but I'm not sure what still needs changes.
The foundry process of setting up spell lists is clear to me, but I’m confused about the class( I’ve not built/played a cleric) but AoN says: “You gain additional spell slots each day at your highest level of cleric spell slots. You can prepare only heal spells in these slots, and the number of slots is equal to 1 plus your Charisma modifier.” The charisma on this character is +0. Why does this build have 4 Heals in divine font?
Thanks for the comment and that is a good question! In the Remaster, you're font is not tied to Charisma anymore. So you get 4 heal or harm spells at first level regardless of your charisma. Player Core pg. 111 - " Your divine font gives you additional heal or harm spells of this rank. The number is 4 at 1st level, 5 at 5th level, and 6 at 15th level." AoN is working on converting the Remaster but that is the PreRemaster rules. I hope that helps! Don
@@slystrategist ah! Admittedly, I have not dug in on the remaster rules yet, just what your channel and others have been putting out. Thanks for the reply!
For me that is okay when you do a pre-existing character, or know exactly what you want. But it is a terrible way if you try to build a character with new players. I prefer to use Pathbuilder and then import the data
Thanks for the comment and for watching! I personally do like using Pathbuilder2E myself and I definitely agree that it is MUCH easier to use for new players but it is definitely doable to create a character directly in Foundry itself. The dev-preferred way is to build character in a tool like Pathbuilder or Wanderers Guide, then use it as reference to manually build the character in Foundry like they do in the video. They HIGHLY suggest not using an Importer, as even when they are working they tend to break on any minor patch and often end up bricking your character which is really bad if you are 6 months into a campaign and have tons of random loot and other things you didn't keep a backup of...
@@FormerRuling Thanks for watching and the comment! I had a few comments on my prior video with some P2E Foundry Devs and after a good discussion I removed the Pathmuncher content. So that is an interesting question! You can easily bring your preexisting character or create a whole new character directly in Foundry VTT, Let's take a look at the process!

Also pathmuncher imports spells. This is very useful for new players, especially as foundry’s spell selection leaves a bit to be desired.
