I think Hornby Percy is better than the Bachmann one, definitely. Yes, he's missing the axleguards and leaf springs for the front wheels. Yes, he's burdened with the simplified one-piece connecting rods. But his face is better, his bunker is the right height and its coal rails are the right color, he has an open cab, he has a front coupler, and he has a better motor (especially compared to first-gen Bachmann Percy, ye gods). And while the Bachmann one has the front W-irons... they're very crudely sculpted. The minimalist "Sodor Mail" deco doesn't work as well on the Hornby TPO, I do have to admit. It works great on the vans used in the show (which Bachmann replicated) because they've got a lot of native detail that stands out on its own due to the planking, hinges, and louvers; they're also a bit smaller.
Nice job! Enjoyed this very much and I cannot wait for more videos to come!
Thank you!
Great review. Just picked this up on eBay and can’t wait to give it a whirl. Love Percy!
That operating TPO is a treat. A pity that there isn't a comparable American RPO model (at least AFAIK).
It’s already discontinued on 2018. Glad you got it but ouch on the postage, subscribed too.
Thank you
