As requested by a number of people, here is a full episode from 2002 of the short-lived game show "Shafted", hosted by comedian, musical, and current radio personality, Red Symons.
Other than its music, sound effects and how contestants were eliminated, it wasn't really the nicest game (being mainly about lying a deceiving one another)
A couple of bits of irony there in the final minutes; firstly that Red alludes to taking a holiday himself (followed by the announcer declaring that this was the final episode), and secondly Laurie saying to camera that he planned on shafting so he could come back as the returning champion - I wonder if he would have changed his mind if he knew there would BE no returning champion...?
The end reminds me of a UK game show called golden balls, it's the same concept. Both players choose share (split) and the money gets split. One player chooses share (split) and the other chooses shaft (steal) - the person who chose shaft keeps all the money Both players choose shaft (steal) and nobody gets the money.
This is a series finale episode from the Australian game show "Shafted" & this episode's original airdate is April 5, 2002 on Nine Network (Australia). 🇦🇺 🇦🇺 Barbara, Alisha, Craig, Laurie, Peter & Lisa are the six players competing.
This was not bad pitty it didn't last very long in Australian gameshows there have been a few that had the right concept but didn't work out got the chop after only one season I'm proud to Be Australian!!!!'
Other than it's cool music and sound effects, the one thing that always found intriguing about this show was the 'shafting'. There should be more shows where they eliminate contestants like that!
I wonder if anyone has the ITV version aka the UK version of Shafted Update almost a decade later Bluefrogtv posted all four episodes of the UK version of shafted
First--How many weeks was this show on? Second--Why was THIS of all shows chosen to replace "Sale" at the 7.00 p.m. timeslot? Third--Why do producers keep using the Prisoner's Dilemma gimmick on game shows with solo contestants (such as this one, "The Bank Job", "Golden Balls", "Take it All", etc.) when it makes more sense to use them on shows with teams (like "Friend or Foe" here in the States)?
It was on for 8 weeks (40 episodes) in total. Why they picked this show to replace "Sale" is beyond belief. Someone seemed to figure "It's a quiz-based show, so it should hold the same type of audience" - how wrong they were. I have never been a big fan of these types of shows - although I find the "The Chase" (UK) really quite fun.
It didn’t even last a fortnight in Perth at 7pm and was moved to 5:30pm just before the news as was replaced by motorway patrol from New Zealand from the third week till the shafteds demise in early April
Do you happen to have either the biggest win in Australian Deal or No Deal history (I think it happened on the 2nd episode of the prime-time run) or the first 2nd offer Deal in International Deal or No Deal history (according to someone on a Deal or No Deal forum it happened in Australia)? Those are the two big episodes of the Australian version I have yet to see.
There was a Russian version of shafted, a little weird mind you, as there were no categories, and the whole game is nothing but the half questions. Also, the split/shaft at the end had a 3rd component, that if split/split the one who brought in the most could "split" it at a NON-EQUAL splitting.... The show got there from Endemol UK, and here's an ep on TH-cam of it. (turn on auto-translate english to get a jist, it won't be perfect but you'll get what's going on) Also, no trap doors, just a graphic fade and cut for the "shafted" player. th-cam.com/video/rk0ZiODxKjk/w-d-xo.html
I think it was only Western Australia they moved it from 7pm to 5:30 after just a week and they replaced it with Motorway Patrol from New Zealand at 7pm in Perth
They should have shared. Then, they would have walked away with $3,102.50 EACH! And now, they’re leaving empty handed. And they’ve only got themselves to blame. 😡 Take care of yourselves. 😔
Totally love shafted theme and music they should bring back this game show.
Other than its music, sound effects and how contestants were eliminated, it wasn't really the nicest game (being mainly about lying a deceiving one another)
I met Red Symons when he was on Hey Hey it's Saturday... very funny guy !! :)
Hey mate, thanks for uploading this show. Is it possible to upload anymore from this series?
what a bizarre game show

Heartbeat sound effect suspense
The final round of this series reminds me of the same one from Friend or Foe and U.K. game show Golden Balls.

The presenter was in the first season of Neighbours, playing a bank robber

I don't understand the hate on this show...
You are out of your mind to share, in any such show.
You must assume, going in, you will win nothing and like it.
This Shafted episode aired April 5 2001
Wrong 2002 Look at the Graphics in the 2002 style in the 2001 Identity Package
Huh, i thought was on at 5pm or something before 'Pass the buck' (another ill-fated gameshow from around this time)
I think it was only Western Australia they moved it from 7pm to 5:30 after just a week and they replaced it with Motorway Patrol from New Zealand at 7pm in Perth
The shaft was never fast enough.
