got both too. pepsi samurai and seiko padi king turtle.

Got both pepsi samurai with silicone band, and King samurai with SS bracelet, not so different but the SS bracelet gives a bit of a elegant and mature look for the watch
Plus the king samurai looks like a rolex submariner 😅

I find them too heavy when worn on bracelet. Close to 200g. Not my thing anymore.
But yes, they look great. I still have a Samurai in my collection that gets zero wrist time.

The white date window provides balance. It makes up for not having a 3 hour marker.
If it was blue it would blend in with the dial the 3 hour mark would look empty.

S.F- S.N. Prefer Samurai more. But like I said, everyone needs both.

The Seiko samurai looks chiseled, tough & angular. While the turtle looks like it was designed after a bloated, fat guy's beer gut. Samurai 4 the win! ⌚ 💡 ⌚ 💡

At the $500 usd mark, you have 3 prospex to choose from - samurai, monster and turtle. I like the turtle the least and the monster and samurai equally. Currently have a samurai. Very comfortable on bracelet. A well made package imo.

Seiko should consider a hybrid shape for the case, maybe some sharp angles like the samurai but rounded edges for comfort

They do have quite a range of different models. Some are a mix here and there, like the MM200 series.

You could say the Sumo is a hybrid shape.

My samurai has been consistently +20 everyday since I’ve bought it last week. Should I be concerned? Thanks!

I think nothing to worry about. Spec sheet says +45 to -35 a day.

Got my eye on the Pepsi samurai. I’m worried it’s too heavy.

On the steel bracelet, it is rather heavy. So you may want take that into consideration.

At first I'm trying to see why others like the Turtle so much (I'm more of a Samurai fan, I got one myself) but after this comparison I am getting now what makes the Turtle look good. That on-wrist comparison really differentiated the two and greatly highlighted your point, and for me it really showed the beauty of the turtle. I'm still a samurai fan, I'll still enjoy my samurai, but now my eyes are open and I'm now also considering maybe at least to try on a turtle someday (after pandemic). I like the way you present your reviews for these watches. Really informative.

Hey Benjamin thanks for dropping by. These two models are probably the best budget Seiko divers now. They sit at the base of the ISO-rated mechanical divers yet offer so much value. Definitely a great idea to get one of each.
Like you, I prefer the Samurai. This is because I find the day-date complication on the Turtle a lil’ too much.
Either way, can’t go wrong with these guys. Enjoy your Samurai in good health!

I’m partial to the Samurai 👌
Reminds me of a Japanese Panerai 😃

That’s the first time i’ve heard of that comparison. Interesting. Thanks. I have to take a good look at the Samurai again later.

For me its not even close. SAMURAI! Such a beautiful sharp watch. I dont like the look of the turtle at all. I bought my second SAMURAI, the white dial king samurai, wow! Love it.

    • @AndyinSG
      @AndyinSG  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Culichi 077 I lean towards the Samurai more myself. I guess i’m just not into that white day/date going on in the Turtle.
