The most special of all M3 generations next to the E30. The last true M car to be powered by a bespoke, Motosport derived high revving, ITB equipped N/A motor. They have aged extremely well!
As someone who’s put nearly 150k hard miles on the E9x chassis, I can tell you it’s a really hard chassis to beat. The experience of this car is what makes this car so amazing. Common misconception that people have - low mile cars aren’t better than average/high mile cars. It’s all about maintenance. Low mile cars generally lack that.
I have a 325i and 335i and I do love them. I've had E46 cars, and I still have an E30, and the E9x chassis and interior are my favorite (maybe equal to E30 if you consider their place in history). I've never driven the E9x M3, but maybe some day I'll move up to one. The 325i with the N52 handles amazing. Compared to the 335i, it feels so light in the nose. Sport package is very worth it on N52 4 doors.

Hi from a Perth Western Australia. Nice work guys. I am on my 4th e90/92. Had a ESS 625 SC e92 , another e92 FBO and 2 e90 FBO , keep coming back to them. Definitely no need to SC the V8 , more fun as is. I have a full Akra exhaust with test pipes, it’s the quietest I have ever had but will add a full intake and plenum soon, I have finally learnt after 57 years that’s the way to do it. Honestly better off playing with carbon fibre drive shafts and lower ratio diff ratio if you want a supercharger feel. Now I need to grab a E 60 M5 before they get too expensive. I have a Ml63 with the 6.2 very fast but like BMW more I think so no C63 amg for me. You guys are right, I get nothing out of new crazy fast cars, this vintage is the best for true drivers cars that give back to you. M, RS, AMG Lexus ISF.Maserati 4200 GT , and or early Maserati QP with F1 transmission, pre 2008. That’s my list. 😬
The V10 cars are so cheap. I don't care what it looks like, if M6s stay so cheap, they could be hard to pass up just for the engine. They're the same underneath, anyways.

Who love turbos like track days, but for street driving no turbo and no supercharger. You don't need it. Beside it will suck your bank account fast..have two naturally aspirated, and just love them both 2010 E92 and a 2013 E92 M cars and nothing else has that type of driving experience..! You guys are great infomercial road testing experts for the brand.
Greatest BMW generation! From the entry level 3 series models with the incredibly reliable N52, the last NA straight 6. To the N54/55 in the 335i, BMW's first attempt at Forced induction. All the way up to the glorious S65 V8 in the M3, this generation will always be my favorite‼️❤️
Amazing cars. Love mine. It's a bit heavy, probably its only drawback. They can be stripped down to close to 3k and it makes it an insanely capable track car, easily matching GT3 lap times at my local tracks with proper setups. But as a daily (only drawback mpg) or dual duty track car, its hard to beat. And you can find them in the mid $20k's all day!
I have just done a full track day at Zolder in Belgium and 4 days at the Nurburgring, including a 1400 mile drive to get there and back. Didn’t miss a beat !!! Manual with Ap brake upgrade and Apex wheels. That’s all you need !
This motor can last a long time without any need for bearings replacing. Good warm up and maintenance and then you can perform with it. It loves to be driven hard
After looking for either F82 M4 or E92 M3. In the US, for the E92 it was pretty even, 6MT or DCT. But for F82 M4 was definitely more rare to see a 6MT.
The E46 Platform. The true king of M3’s👑 It did everything before the E9x. Nothing is new about it. From the timeless styling, quad exhaust, NA engines, Carbon fiber roof, CSL 19” rims, SMG gearbox DTC an upgrade yes and not that comparable, but! the bridge between auto and manual’s. To the V8 powered GTR race car. The E9x is simply maybe a bit more refined with worse interior 😂 But the E46 is the true ultimate driving machine. - I will give you the 335i had turbos, yes.
I got my E92 tcu tuned at a place in the PNW called 22rpd, dramatically changed the gear changes. There was little to no delay in thr dct gear changes. They made it perform like the f8x dct gear speed. Idk how they did it, but they did.
I struggled with that choice, DCT excellent and about 80% sold in N. America. But I'm glad I went with 3 pedals, took me 6 wks shopping entire West Coast USA to find one that checked all the boxes.
Weird how cars go through cycles. I weren’t really into the e92s - always preferred the e46 M3s, but how good does this look! Appreciation for these have gone up ten fold.
It’s coming out the main bearings also go bad in these. Had a manual Comp that was perfect but just didn’t wanna deal with all that. Great car but it’s the ultimate anxiety machine.
I have missed the boat on these a few times, Ive wanted one for 5+ years. Most recently compromised and bought an s550 gt. Nervous about being dissatisfied with the torque because there arent many curvy roads around me, but im sure i will overpay for one soon

Whats it really like to own? Every odd tick makes you question if your bank account will go to zero. But then its nothing and it keeps working years onward.
If you are debating on keeping it for a long time and sell it after get the RCF. But if you can keep up with the maintenance and don’t care about the money factor get a e92 m3.
M539 restaurations rebuild one with other cams and higher compression. It made 430 or something from memory. Normally they make 390whp. The e90 M3 (yes I like the sedan more) is/was one of my dream cars. I drove one back to back with a C63 and was much more impressed with the C63 (although I love the BMW interior). Bought a newer 4.0 twin turbo C63s tho :p
@@darklegion7780 I'm also in europe and I had the same problem. E90 M3 well over 40k and a nice example around 50k. That was just to much for me. Now I have a 2018 (pre-OPF) C63S for just 45k, makes 510hp and 700nm. I still have the BMW blood in me and when prices are a little but lower I will go for an F80 M3.
This guy having a GT3 and a Mclaren saying that these are reliable after taking care of a few “minor things” tells you what you need to know about the maintenance costs of these.
The F80 m3 is a better car for your money. Yes the 9x m3 sounds great but thats about it. To extract any power from the e9x youll have to get yourself a bank loan aswell another loan to maintain it. The f80 its basically bang for buck. Also the e9x never made claimed power. At best they would make sub 340 to 380hp max
Correct I own E92 M3 LCI I of 500 limited edition and with remap and primary cat delete it on produced 390bhp...but saying that these cars are still fast especially in M mode and running 99 octane fuel...

Great car but the lack of torque and lifeless feeling below 4k rpm means it feels like you’re driving a prius most of the time if you’re doing mostly city driving. Above 4k rpm is a lot of fun tho and sounds great. C63 from that gen is much more enjoyable as a daily but certainly worse if you’re gonna track it. Seating position in the m3 also feels like you’re refereeing a tennis match
Common complaint but the power band is very linear and throttle response is fantastic with the ITBs. You have to be prepared to use the revs. Just like a GT3. That’s a big part of why it is such a joy to drive. If you are looking for low down torque it’s not the car for you.
Cool motor. Didn’t really care for the platform. Heavy. Steering not that great even in the era. The DCT is too slow. I do love manuals, but I do respect those that don’t want or can’t drive them. But no reason to get a DCT in this car.
W204 doesn’t handle the or gives you the experience the E92 does . Faster straight fasho , more torque more power but E92 around corners and all around >
My 2012 M3 has 241,000 miles on it and still going strong. I got it new.

E92 M3 is a legend and will be a modern day classic. Bespoke engine and its classic looks have aged well.
E92 M3 is the Ring track car to have. With all these reviews on the E92 M3, prices are going up for the good ones. Dream car for sure!

Back when you had to pick between the Boss 302 and e92 I was really hoping for the M3.
I bought mine, a 2012 comp back in 2020 for only 27k cad. Somehow the car market went berserk and I sold it a year later for 50k. Still regret selling

3550 for a carbon roof manual is not terrible. The e46, with 80 hp less, was 3450 lbs. 3% weight difference.
