    That’s bigger than the small stuff down here, is it coming off the mineral deposit in the creek? I never appreciated geology growing up but now I stare at every outcropping like a dog at a bone, great stuff guys I gotta get up north just to look 👀 at rocks and explore.🤟

    • @911mining
      @911mining  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure we didn't have to much time and it was dark seems like fairly coarse gold and there's sulfides and what looked like gold in the rocks running through where we were probably associated well have to take a look in daylight

    Question on the first set of samples:
    Is all of the black mineral magnetic? Some of the more crystalline sections of black mineral seem to have more in common with Argentite/Acanthite.
    I'll be honest: I have a hard time identifying silver sulphides. You guys must come across visible silver sulphides all the time. Are there any tricks I can use to identify Acanthite in the field?

    • @911mining
      @911mining  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most is magnetic. There is some argentite however. Sulfosalts are super hard to determine in the field honestly next to impossible, sometimes we can tell if we look under a microscope but even then we generally have to send it for testing.

    I have searched all over the internet and only got tiny traces of information on quartz carbonate [ aka 'silica carbonate' ] but it is very hard to get information on it.

    • @911mining
      @911mining  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Quartz-carb is very common in moderate temp hydrothermal deposits, we see a ton of them in BC. Well be posting a video in a few days in a mine which has a big quartz vein with quartz carb surrounding portions of the vein between the host rock and quartz.

    • @DeliciousDeBlair
      @DeliciousDeBlair 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@911mining Although I am sure its much more common than non rock-minded people realize, its just something little reported on in science, chemistry, geology or even mineralogy circles, to my surprise.
      Very eager to see all your exploration, you guys come across some amazing deposits [both in visuals and in mineral content], best show out there for new deposit prospecting I have ever seen!
      Wish I were at liberty to be doing the same!

      @DeliciousDeBlair 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@911mining I found some information on it today, it is called 'silicon carbonate' is why I was not finding it.
      It comes in two forms: Si(CO3) and Si2(CO3) and there were some long articles on it but I have not yet read them all the way through.

    @911 mining & prospecting here in costa rica its not allowed to take minerals, and the nature has been protected well, but there is very interesting geology here you would like to see and observe samples, and I am happy to let you use my house free with friends anytime we can explore geology. possible the carribean plate came in from south pacific and wedged between and split the north and south American plates into two, as north America extended faster, today it has the cocos plate subducting causing additional metamorphic. I saw an interesting place that has a decomposing metamorphic blue clay bedrock with many pyrite quarts veins. I travel to united states for mining legal claims where I am a citizen

    • @MrPeabody67
      @MrPeabody67 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      One of my mentors did some work in Costa Rica in the 80's. He mentioned several deposits of significant grade an size. It's understandable that the majority of Costa Rican's opposed the development of mines; I suspect it would be difficult to store tailings in such a wet climate.
