it is worth mentioning that Mike Mozart said it best on this issue, that officially licensed toys are safety tested for your children and have to meet certain standards... even though the cheap bootleg might sell for such a smaller price, there's literally never going to be any safety testing for a bootleg.
We're talking about unsafe materials in the making of these things. Like the paint and whatever odd smelling substances may be used in these.
Not to mention the company will be around to sue after your child dies!
But seriously, Phelous is probably going to die young from this....
So you got to ask yourself: *is it REALLY WORTH the cheaper price?*

They also have the tendency to not work like the originals and/or fall apart from gentle moving (as shown in this bootleg zone).
Considering how some kids treat their action figures, there's bound to be tears after only 3 minutes of playing.

These remind me of an episode in the 2003 series where a guy made bootleg toys in the street and then a kid got one and the toy immediately fell apart.
Clearly, these guys were really inspired by this series when they made these bootlegs.

Spin Master is surprisingly pretty huge, owning a lot of popular brands like Bakugan, PAW Patrol, and even _Etch A Sketch!_ And, of course, all the licensed toy deals they have.

I unknowingly got these off ebay, I just thought it was a good price for all 4. They came in the clear baggie packaging. They were sold as loose, so that's just how the seller had packed them for shipping in my eyes. But I noticed they didn't look right, they seemed really old and heavily played with. Their arms were falling off and the paint was a weird color like they had all been sunbleached. Thanks to you I now know for a fact they are bootlegs and not just really old and well played with.
Do you remember what seller on eBay you bought them from?

My heart skipped a beat when I saw this. I rushed into my craft room (where many turtle toys are just waiting to get re-tooled), inspected my Donny and Mikey figures and realized I got lucky with those two.
I picked them on ebay a while back to complete the four, and I was under the impression they were bootleg. If they are, then rejoice, there are bootlegs that actually rival the original in quality.
*Follow up
Well, got myself some knock off Classic Turtles and karma gave me a good kick in the ass. Crap glue job (two of the shells popped off), rigid and stiff joints in the arms and heads (wrecked one of Donnies arms trying to loosen it up), while the legs, fingers and toes are as loose as all hell (I can't even stand them up right on their manholes and getting them to hold their weapons is neigh impossible). Oh... and Leonardo is missing one of his arm bands... for some... reason.
Whatever, I'll just move them to the workshop and see if I can at least make them presentable.
Who would've thought seeing Phelous playing with action figures would turn out to be so entertaining?!
NECA released a really cool TMNT set based upon Casey Jones & Trenchcoat Raphael from the original live action film (based upon scene where the two met up after Casey beats up some purse snatchers) which eventually leads to Raphael's iconic "DAAAMN" scream! I managed to find it while Christmas shopping at Wal-Mart last year, though the box set was apparently released in 2020! So NECA was still making some TMNT figures as of 2020! I thought I'd mention it just in case Phelous wanted to check it out for his other show reviewing officially released toys & other related merchandise!
Thanks for making this video, i found a headless 2012 series Donatello in a bag of random toys at the goodwill that i couldn't identify and now thanks to this i can finally confirm that it's a bootleg :)

I got ripped off! I just received my Nickelodeon Bootleg TMNT figures in bags and they're not coming apart no matter how many times I move and pose their limbs. And Raphael doesn't come with different color green sockets in his elbows.

Man my mom got these for my son. I don’t think she knows they’re a bootleg and I didn’t want to burst her bubble, but luckily they didn’t fall apart like yours so it’s whatever he doesn’t care if it’s licensed or not.

you should have those toys paint's and part's tested china bootlegs are notorious for having high concentration of lead and mercury in them. in the Philippines some bothleg's are tested positive for high mercury content specially china boothleg's

I had an official Donatello from this line with a warped peg in its leg and a Raph with a melted (possibly melted, that is) wrist band, which revealed the peg underneath, which means that even the official versions have problems.

The 2003 and 2012 serious can be a little vauge. Given the 2012 series could get pretty serious and the 2003 serious could get pretty goffy.

I got baggy versions with comperesin with original they wasnt bad they they didnt fall apart but 1 year passed they accept Leonardo they are broken

I always wonder how do these things get on the store shelves...they just buy these things from this suspicious Asian company and never stop to think ''hmm, what if they're selling bootlegs instead of the legit ones?'' I never understood that.
+HyperGolem You'd think they wouldn't want to risk that. Especially since they can lose money because of it, for obvious reasons.
Usually it's because stores don't buy these. You won't see these in any Walmart because they buy directly from who ever makes the real stuff.
A lot of local small chain stores aren't able to compete with say Walmart or Target so these really shady bootleg companies will do bribes with inspectors or managers to get them in stores.
It's not nearly as common anymore as it was in the 80s, 90s and even the early 2000s as a lot of inventory stock is tracked digitally and it's becoming harder and harder to hide the paper trail.
But nowadays bootleggers use sites like eBay and Amazon where everything is automated and digital.
The other big thing is Thrift Stores as that is where I tend to find truckloads of Bootlegs and Knockoffs

I got a set of these off ebay for $8.99 + free shipping and they are awesome. Look great, no smell, spent a while setting their poses and had no issues with limbs coming off. Also Raph had no bright green pegs. I guess I was lucky.

ebay is another option if you don't have any good flea markets near buy. but you will end up paying top dollar.
