Please don't feed into the narrative that lighter = stronger. I mean, look at his accomplishments. He is one of the best, WITH his current stature. There are enough eating disorders around in the scene already!
Difficult to answer such a broad topic in a TH-cam comment, but I think of my weight as a benefit rather than a detriment. The weight I have on my frame is helping me go up, not dragging me down. Also, a little extra weight is helpful for longevity, I have been climbing and consistently improving for 20 years. Plus I rarely get injured. Also, I’m at 8% BF so I’m not sure what else I’m supposed to do😆
I think Matt is such a unique specimen given that he's not your typical sub-5'9", 140 pound male pro-climber... he's doing quite well for himself despite his frame which, to me, is more impressive relative to the average. We should encourage his progression through the sport in lieu of beating the drum of expected "norms."
Noice, I’m heading to horsepens to do a v3 so we’re basically the same level
V3 in Horsepens is no joke! Good luck 👍

Just water. I have super dry skin, so I spray a little water on my hands 2-3x per session.

Spider-Man
do you ever think you can climb harder if you lost 20 lbs or more? most top climbers are ur height seem to be a minimum of 20 lbs lighter than you.
