  • How to Port Match a Throttle Body | Extremely Satisfying
    Today I chose to port match my new intake manifold to the same diameter as my Skunk2 Throttle Body. Unfortunately my throttle is pretty old school and I couldn't figure out what size it was. I googled the serial number and nothing came up. I then measured with a tape measure and converted inches to millimetres. I found out that my throttle body is about 68mm. This should help increase the flow once my engine is assembled and making boost.
    The process was honestly super simple. First I traced the gap of the gasket onto the face of the intake manifold plenum. Then I simply removed the material with an air powered die grinder that I bought at Harbor Freight. The last thing I had to do was smooth out the rough edges with the stone bit and the drill.
    Super easy, very fun, and well worth it.

    Have you ever done this, and did I do it right?

      You didn't screw it up don't worry, It just takes a lot of time to make it look like a factory peace but what you did will definitely do the job no problemo

      I think you need to dig more strainght to the back, the front part matches but the port gets smaller deeper down

      Using wd40 with the stone will stop it gunking up;

      Sorry to be so offtopic but does anyone know a method to log back into an instagram account?
      I stupidly lost my password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me!

    I love that you still use these oldschool tuning techniques and modify your existing parts, nowadays most people will just buy matching off the shelf parts

    Dude it’s so satisfying. It’s like asmr but better. It’s like having someone massage you and you get to relax but there’s no massage... it made me feel so good, thank you!

    Great quick video! I have definitely found the stones, especially cheaper ones, are quite slow. The carbide burrs are the way to go for removing material fast for sure.

    I've done it before I gasket matched my turbo manifold and turbo. The cast iron cut like butter the stainless steel was allot more difficult. I'd say you could have shaved off a bit more but your right, close enough. It sounded like you were losing air pressure which will effect the way the die grinder cuts. Good job

    Does it actually add anything in performance at all

    • @MrReivn

      On stock engine, propably not. But with ported head, better exhaust, camshafts, etc. mods it will have an effect. This example situation of factory quality in the video is quite bad in my opinion, usually they can match the intake and tb better than this. If the difference was the other way around, it would not matter that much (if the tb is large enough that is), but that lip going from larger tb to smaller manifold, creates a huge barrier for air. That alone can mean that the runners won't get enough air on higher rpms, which will reduce peak performance.

      @@boosted_john Just remember you never ever ever want sharp edges in the combustion chamber because that can cause detonation the throttle body however should be fine

    Needs to be 68mm the entire opening not just the lip of it. I remember porting my manifold with just a drill and sandpaper shit sucked

    You are too rough you need to let the tool do the work, and use Wd40 or some kind of oil that's the key trick 😉🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
