I'm 27, been bald for about 2-3 years now. I just want to say you're the soul reason I've leaned into being bald, and gave me the confidence to be seen bald. I used to feel like I was the ugliest wretched human around just cause I was young and bald. But I PROMISE you, confidence is EVERYTHING. I just want to sincerely thank you for that confidence.
Also im glad im not the only one who hates shaving the back. Found a good unscented scalp moisturizer, it's a life saver!

I have this one and it has been great. But, you can't let it go more than a couple of days between shaves....what I like to do is hit the thick areas (the horseshoe) every day with the Andis. The top part can go a couple of days. Doing it that say saves a little time. I don't get any irritation since it doesn't take that many passes on the thick hair, if done every day.

Not sure if worthy of a follow-up trial...but, the Andis works really well if done every other day. I would have had the same result as you if I had let it go 4 days.

I tried this Andis shaver more than a year ago. I used it maybe three times and sent it back to Amazon, from which I bought it. I never used it long enough to get a good head shave. As you said, it really did get my skin hot.
I got a similar shaver from Babyliss, which I think does a pretty good job, but it takes quite a bit of going over the stubble several times. Also the replacement foil and blades are rather expensive and the foil wears a hole before the blades seem to go dull.
I also have a Pitbull Gold headshaver, which came with two heads, one with four and one with five rotary heads. It gets as good as it gets fairly quickly but does not get to a really close shave. But I can use the Pitbull and then finish up with the Babyliss and have a very good result.
But the best head shave for me comes from a Gillette Mach 3 cartridge. I’m an older (75) guy but I have been Bald By Choice for 15 years and still have a lot of hair Up There and usually shave every two to three days. The Mach 3 does it for me most of the time. It’s quicker and closer and less irritating than any other method.
I don’t think I am old enough to be trusted with a double edge razor. It’s just to bloody for me.
Thanks for your work; I’ve been watching for years!

I use the wahl balding clipper thanks to your review on it. And then I follow it up with this exact shaver. The andis shaver works best with the least amount of hair possible. You had too much hair and thats why it wasn't working properly. Both are easy to use and leave me 100% bald. I also have the andis trimmer for my facial hair. I have saved so much money since I started to cut my own hair. All three of these machines have payed for themselves many time over.

Great video! The coil shaver is best for those who deal with skin irritation due to blade shaving. For the best results with this, your hair needs to be cut very low. I cut my hair with clippers and then quickly buzz my head with a coil shaver for extra smoothness and to get rid of any left over stubble. I love coil shavers but those looking to get one have to understand that your hair must be very low. If you use it every day or every other day, i think that's the sweet spot. This channel helped me take the plunge and shave my head earlier this year!😎 Thanks for all you do!

Totally agree with your assessment of electrics. Wet shaves might seem a bit more hassle but for me it's an overall more pleasant experience. I do have a Remington headshaver for in hand luggage when I can't take my blades, but I never find it as easy or comfortable as advertised. It's fine for a quick pass on one day's growth but would never be my go-to. Leafshave Twig FTW.

I use andis foil shaver for my head and it is the best thing I've found- no burns or ingrown hairs or irritation. Key is to shave every other day and to go a little bit slower on the first pass against the grain. Usually takes approx. 10 mins. and you can easily listen and hear if you have cut all stubble. Best tool for head shaving in my opinion, if done correctly.

The Babyliss is a lot more powerful so can cut longer hair (can go longer between cuts if you want to), the foils last significantly longer before needing to be replaced (cheaper to run) and I prefer the build quality of it too - although some will prefer the lighter plastic of the Andis. ✌️

For me, the difference between "razor bald" and "clipper bald" is so miniscule, that going electric was a no-brainer. Apart from avoiding inevitable nicks and cuts, the time and cost savings justify the purchase. 3 minutes every couple days takes care of things. I seriously doubt that I would have remained as diligent if shaving had become a half hour ritual. Sometimes 99% is good enough.

They're just a smidge below Feathers in sharpness... but.. where they excel is they actually get sharper after the first shave and hold an edge much longer... where the Feathers are great on the first shave and quickly degrade.. now you may ask how is it possible for a blade to be sharper on the second shave?
Well.. Bic puts a teflon coating on the blade for smoothness... however... it kinda fouls the edge a bit.. your first shave wears that coating off and gets ya to the real edge.@jakerobichaux939

From someone that has used both the Andis Foil Shaver and the Remington Rx7 that you have reviewed in another video I feel like I have to add that both of them can handle a wet shave. For me with the Andis the process is as follows: Wash head, Brush up a shaving soap lather and apply to head with a shaving brush, do one pass all over, reapply lather before the next pass and so on for 3 to 4 passes before washing my head clean and applying a moisturizer after a gentle drying. I never have problems with skin irritation.
Knowing that most people apply shaving cream or soap to any surface before shaving with a razor and then complaining when they don't do the same as they rub back and forth with a machine and get irritation comes off as a self explanatory mistake.

I'm a barber. If you buy a professional clipper for home use, it will last forever. The foil blades would probably last a year or two before you would want to shave them. The big thing that gets left out is a proper clipper spray. Whichever clippers you're using a quality clipper spray (approx £10-£20) will enhance the performance and longevity of your clippers at home ✌️

Clippers that give a baby smooth shave? Which ones? If I go more than a couple of days between shaves, I will use the clippers to get hair down to 0 and then the Andis takes it to smooth. Best combination I have found. I was spending too much on razors and the hassle of shaving cream was a bit discouraging.

I have used a set of the andis ones for years and they were pretty good. At work we'd always cut the hair down to a day or twos growth before foiling. (Which you already do but may have helped the man in the video).
A barber friend of mine uses a cheap Remington 'skull shaver' type clipper on himself and he's had fantastic results. I don't know about the longevity of the clipper though. I would just make sure they're always oiled and buy the extra warranty so you can take them back for a new set if they pack up.

Thanks for the review brother. I shave with a safety razor once every 4 days. It usually takes at least an hour start to finish with all of the set up, which can be a hassle even if I'm used to it now. I have the similar Andi's model, but I haven't used it for a while. But I wanted to watch a review on it since I'm going on a trip soon. Your experience was similar to mine, and I think I even have thicker/more coarse hair than yours. Just shaved yesterday, and I'll probably give it a try tomorrow once I'm out of town. Definitely took some aftershave oil, and bump control cream just in case. Hopefully it doesn't ruin my trip. Cheers.

Have this, cons - it is very noisy and you have to go over a good few times to get smooth, not quick. Pros - unlike a wet shave there is no redness and it leaves a natural matt skin finish rather than the high shine of a blade, good for low fade finishing off but not as a stand alone shaver.

OK, so, I have finally shaved my head for the first time, at 42. Hair was a few inches from my bum, but I did it for charity (Movember, prostate cancer), at an event called Prostskate 2 that my roller derby team organised. So yes, I am now 11 day in to a shaved head, and must say my head shape was nothing to worry about :)
Anyway, to the video, I can't believe this went up literally hours after I purchased a babyliss pro titanium foil shaver. I'd been back and forth as to whether I should go with electric or razor, but I suppose I can now at least give it a go :). Just really wanted more reviews of some of these 'barber' shavers before I shot the money at it.
But oh well, we shall see how things go...I may not even use it, and grow my ever balding hair again, or, maybe go with the Floki long hair cut that I've wanted to try for a few years...At least I know my head doesn't look like a thumb when bald now though :)

I still say no other machine beats a braun when it comes to electric head shaving. That moddle trimmer for longer hairs is the best, I can plow through 5 days growth with my series 9 like butter. The final result is blade close feel... it just doesnt last as long. Nice review though!
If someone wants to try one of these without buying one they are the standard at most barber shops, you can usually get a full head foil shave for $20-$30.

Nice review! I missed them. Also I really feel your opinion about it. Would love to use something like this for a quick and easy shave but it seems to be to harsh on the skin. Also I think I would make it in nearly the same time with a blade. Thanks.

I bought Babyliss FX3. I use it to shave my head. It shaves basically like a razor blade - the head is as smooth as a "dolphin". Compared to Andis - FX3 has a more powerful engine and shaves faster. It deals better with thick hair at the back of the head. Babyliss FX2 does not shave as close as FX3. FX3 is better in this respect - I saw a video on TH-cam showing how smooth it is after using FX3. And FX2 left tiny hair ends visible. Braun Series 9 does not shave as close to the skin as all the foil shavers mentioned above. So if someone wants to have a smooth head like a dolphin - I highly recommend Babyliss FX3

I used two different electric razors for my head but it’s definitely not smooth/close enough for my liking. I’ll still to blades. I recently just started with the Leaf Shave. Man oh man, now that is a smooth/close shave. I’m in love. As for electric, the two that I used were Braun something and then Freebird. No thanks.

I've tried different foil shavers like this and my Braun Series 7 is easily better. Shave was faster, smoother, didn't miss any hairs and cleanup was easier, just using the Cleaning Station it comes with. Those stations eventually break down but I have backup.

My old Remington twin foil shaver I had for 20 years I used to use for my face is actually the closest head shave I ever had. It beats the hell out of the likes of the RX7/skull shavers and even every wet shave razor I've tried in the shower. NOTHING gets even slightly close enough compared to these foil shavers. Wet shave and skull shavers are ok for shortening a few days growth, but that last bit you can always still "feel" is taken away with my foil

I use it and brought it to clean up the upper cheeks of my beard and it does a fantastic job and is nearly as close as a razor.
If you want the best head shaver go for a Skull Shaver by far the best head shaver on the market and i have tryed lots of head shavers give the Andis a miss

My Andis (original grey and brown/purplish) become faulty just after a year. Cable no longer stays in (very loose). In addition to this battery doesn’t hold charge for more than 5 secs. So you have to use it with the cable in and given the cable is loose so you’re fighting two battles. I wouldn’t purchase another one. On a positive there’s plenty of reputable other foil shavers on the market now.
