I’m in lower north Michigan(Baldwin area). The guys with dogs ran my bears off. I had 13 bears on my bait. The first day they were allowed to run dogs all but one of my bears were gone. A little 100lber hung out for the season. I had a great year anyway! Enjoyed the work and preparation. Hopefully going to try Baraga county next year.
I had one big one come in the first night but he didn’t return. I have a tube out for a snare now so I’m hoping now that hunting over bait is over that some of them will come my way. I did use oats and dog food after watching your videos. A bunch of the oats and corn actually sprouted! I’ve got a patch of them still growing. About every 10 days I would empty the barrel on the ground and kick them around so I could put fresh dry bait in. Thanks for the video!
First time bear hunting for us. We had a great season! You can see the videos on our channel. I hope to have another tag next year. Thanks for all the info Bernie!
Same thing happened to me. Still have a few sits left but bears on camera seems random at this point. For me, I think it's acorns and nearby ag fields. One bait had other hunters nearby as well in the general area.
This is my first year baiting bears in Alaska. My bait was being hit hard every day. I kept it stocked with bait. I took my first bear 3 weeks ago and i didn't get to go back out and stock it again. Well it's been a week since bears have been in there due to it being dry. Will they come back in with an area that's been established with scent trails?
I use apples and corn for bait manly. But will use sunflower seeds in future like the MI dnr use to trap bears. I found the warm temps they stay down in the lowlands longer. Me too being over dressed.
Very interesting. I haven’t baited before but next season I may do it in New Hampshire. Either way that’s some great bear info. Thanks for sharing it. I appreciate it. 👍👍
i think there should be a number 6 and that is the bear dog hunters. up at my place in michigan's U.P the dogs will run the bears out your area. season past i had dogs on my bait, and ran ware the bears came from. so i think dog hunters play a big part in why your not seeing bears, at least here in michigan. thanks for the tip very nice video
Hey Bernie are you going to do another bear hunting questionnaire? I have a question that is probably a little bit scandalous I have to ask you. 😵💫 I hate being that guy haha 😉
Awesome info, I appreciate you taking the time to put these together! Do you think this year has been more of a struggle than years past for getting bears on bait? In the UP of Michigan
It definitely was here in Minnesota, especially in the northeast part of the state where all the rain created a lush food supply. The harvest rate will be down.
Great video once again..never thought of over sugaring a bear but it makes sense. I'm still struggling to get my bear yet this year I still have hope to get one yet if not I can't wait till next year.
Thanks Bud for the great info. Always enjoy your channel.
Thanks 👍
Great Video Bernie. That was worth the watch thanks for the information.

They'll be back but it may take some time. They are probably checking it when they are in the area.

Great point, one I hadn't thought of. It's not an issue here in Minnesota but it sure can be in states where bears are hunted with hounds.

you can ask it but I don't have to answer! :)
