I always imagined that even before Skip’s death, they were a low income family. If you look at the Sims three, where Skip is a toddler, his family is low income. So it stands to reason that he probably wasn’t making a lot of money before. It just got even worse when he died
I have tried to recreate Sims 2 into the Sims 4. I already got Goth family and Pleasant, but I'd love to make more. I want them very detailed, with family trees and everything.
You should check out SimSkeleton here on TH-cam they make really faithful recreations of Sims 2 characters and homes. They even make CC for them. They made the veronaville homes and characters and they are near identical. They make most of them though from the other neighborhoods.
My last go around with the Sims 2 version of the Broke family, after two in game weeks, I used the money cheat code a few times as life insurance money that Brandy finally got after all the legal stuff from her husband's death. I proceeded to upgrade the home a bit, remove the pool (because who wants THAT memory always there), got her a job, hired a babysitter, and made her delinquent son do better in school.
We old school Simmers demand an appearance of Bob and Betty Newbie. My headcanon is that their name is pronounced Noo-Bye, and they are secretly extremely wealthy and are hiding out because some organization is after them. There's a reason we haven't seen them in a while.
I definitely love this. I recently went back and played The Sims 2 and I always start in the Broke household when I do. I love the idea of reforming the bad son and have him grow up to be like a doctor or something. I look forward to placing this household in my Sims 4 game. Thanks for all the hard work!
I know they probably won't be chosen, because we don't have fairies in sims 4, but the Goodfellows from the sims 3 were so chaotic. Like from granny Goodfellow swaping her neighbors adopted baby with a fairy and stealing the human baby for her family, her son Pip being a chaotic flirt (like any of my sims spoke to him for a couple sim hours and he would statt flirting) and so on.
Random fact: maybe they did the original Broke Family's house pink because back in the day poor people used to paint their houses mixing pig blood with plaster, which gave it a pink colour. That's what my boyfriends family did back in the day, and also the reason why our presidential house here in Argentina was pink in the first place. Crazy, right? I don't think they intended that but maybe that's where they took inspiration from

Easiest way to make sure everyone gets a present in a big group/family, hold secret Santa. You're only responsible for one (or two depending on even and odd numbers) and it's easier to figure out what only that person(s) wants!
Solutions for the gift problem. My dad has a few siblings, and all of them have at least two kids, so there's a lot of cousins. When we were little, the adults decided to only give gifts to the kids up to the age of 21. The adults only got milestone birthday gifts. We still send cards. As for friends, I've heard of a few set ups. My brother does secret santa with his mates, so everyone is just buying one gift instead of 7. I have 4 mates to buy for, and we set a price limit, and we're understanding of each other's financial situations - one year Clara couldn't afford to give us anything and we all actually used our gift budgets to stock her pantry. Another option is you all go for a meal, or all chip in for an at home feast.
Aww man! I forgot all about the Brokes! In my playthrough, Brandi was so exhausted from working and caring for Beau while she was pregnant that she wouldn't sleep, cuz she was hungry. BUT she wouldn't eat because she was sleepy, so eventually she died and Dustin had to raise Beau alone. It was so sad 😞

There are many gift-giving options-toys for tots, buying a gift for a kid in foster care, etc. but there are also organizations that need just your time. If you have either to spare, it seems to be helping me so maybe it’ll help you.

19:42 I have a really big family, and how it works is I get gifts from my parents, and that’s all. But when I was a kid I got gifts from my cousin Lacy cause I was always at her house so I was really close with her kids. It’s the same thing with everyone else in the family, you only get gifts from your immediate family (parents siblings) and sometimes grandparents or aunt/uncle. (My cousin lacy is like 30 so she’s basically my aunt)!

Lol this is spot on. From someone who's personally lived in an environment like this for several years, it hits hard how you fucked this house up with a bunch of tiny details. Be careful who you live with outside of high-school. Suddenly you're almost 26 and have become traumatized by many disgusting things you shouldn't have had to live in. Don't live with 6 people in a house with 4 rooms and one bathroom. Hell is real and it's a home full of burnouts in the lower middle class. Great detail and story telling. Love these videos, they're always fun to watch!

I have a mahoosive family and we love Christmas and we are poor. We deal with it by saying 'hey kid, the second you turn 14, you are not getting Christmas presents anymore, because Christmas isn't about presents unless you're five', and because they're kids, they believe it (but also, in my family we genuinely go hard for quality time over Christmas presents)

I have a big family so during Christmas time me and my family put all our names into a bowl, and we each would draw one name from the bowl. You were only expected to get a present for that one person who’s name you drew. That way nobody felt left out, everyone got a gift, and we get to keep the money in our bank accounts.

I used to play with them so much I made Brandy marry some random and hella ugly npc guy who was summoned to the lot by that gypsy lady and since I was really into messing with the forcetwins cheat at that time they ended up having 12 kids while still living in that tiny pink trailer-like house... I also remember that one of the kids dropped out of university bc I was dumb and didn't know how to play that pack properly lol
