Carry a bag of rock salt & use or lay chains under tire to get traction. I drive for a living & no matter what kind of vehicle on a road covered in ice you are risking an accident on a non-treated surface. You can also damage your transmission spinning around on ice. After 3 million miles I just stay home because ice is unpredictable & I'm not patient enough to drive on it anymore.
I delivered an Amazon block in Burien and another in Covington that day so I chained up a couple times. Almost got ran into by two sliding cars, one was a lifted truck. Lots of people helping each other in Burien though cept for an accident right by me
We had the same up here in the metro Vancouver BC area , we could have skated all the way down to Seattle ⛄️my wife’s Niece just arrived from Manila Philippines two days before the ice storm what a welcome to the Pacific North West Vancouver area , 🤭
Yikes!! I've been watching tic toks from seattle that show cars just sliding down the hills, some with people, some without! Taking out cars as they slid! I don't think chains will even help with ice! Assuming you made it home alright. Take care out there!! Merry Christmas!
I live on the hill above the S Curves in SE Renton. I'm totally iced in and not going anywhere today. Be safe out there! And you and yours... have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
I fell 3 times in the 96 ice storm splitting my knee open trying to make it out if our drive way to get to work. I have a dead numb spot to this day. The Dr had to mark it when I had my knee replacement so we didn't use it as a test area.
Side note man, I'm from SoCal and I've only driven big rigs in the ice, ice baby, so if I make it there in 24 hours most likely we will both be stuck...😆😅🤣😂
Oohhh - I so get that! Hope you get home ok - should all be fine tomorrow - how weird is that!!?. I started to go out but slipped right outside my door so I went back home - sheets of ice covered with water - very odd!!
Wow, everything looks grey. Dennis be careful and move slowly on such an icy condition road. What is temperature like now and what is that tent doing on street?
Seattleberia strikes again next thing you know you will have polar bears down there. I am glad you got your costco winter boots to keep your feet warm and not slipping as much as you would with regular shoes. Be safe out there Dennis
Just seen the news about the cold weather hitting most of the US. They've called it a cyclone bomb with temperatures dropping 30 degrees in 30 minutes and going down as low as -45. Supposed to be the worst a generation. Hope you got home OK. Happy holidays to you and Amanda.🥶✌☕🎄
My daughter now lives in Omaha ,she lives on a hill, she has a rear wheel drive truck and guess what her truck don't go up a so she had to go creative in getting home 😨😱
Hi Dennis, hope everything was ok after and you got home safely. Thanks so much for documenting this. Are they putting salt down on the roads? Do you have winter tires on your FJ (which is awesome by the way), or all season tires? Winter tires, even on a 4x4, is a great investment. Better at handling severe snow and ice. And make sure the tires have the 3-peak severe weather symbol on them. You don't have to spend a lot, just get a good set for the winter.
If you live in Seattle, you need to buy ice tires or stay home. That is literally the only two options. I live on a steep hill that is now littered with cars sporting summer tires. Seattle needs more adulting and less states of emergency.
@@j.c.2787 Finally!!! I just used my 1800 dollar, one wheel drive truck with chains (after it warmed up for thirty minutes) to pull an all wheel drive Escalade out of the ditch next to my house. His tires cost more than my truck. Coddling adults is dangerous and destroying Seattle.
sorry to hear that man that’s why I stayed home. I didn’t even bother.
when it would ice up like this we would get out the skates and sticks and have a hockey game 1960s

I've never experienced freezing rain and this was so crazy today!!
Wow, that's a lot of ice ice baby... Man that big blue awesome beast got stuck... I'm on my way to help, but it's gonna take me 24 hours brother...
We had the same up here in the metro Vancouver BC area , we could have skated all the way down to Seattle ⛄️my wife’s Niece just arrived from Manila Philippines two days before the ice storm what a welcome to the Pacific North West Vancouver area , 🤭
Stay Safe everyone
Yeah it was pretty bad, I tried to walk around the block testing out my new boot spiky clip on things and I couldn't wait to get back home.
Santa needs to bring Dennis some tire chains. That'll help you out in most icy and snowy situations. Be careful out there my friend. ✌
Crazy Seattle roads! ❄️🥶
❄️🥶❄️🥶❄️🥶❄️
Dude, I can't believe you went out yesterday... You are a good son.
everybody was warned of this icy road condition yet many think its like a snow condition where they can somewhat drive thru it.

Keep in mind it warmed up to upper 30's later in the day and then to 50's overnight, all traces of ice gone.
Spent many days at this park strange feeling to see it on the web.

I hope you made your way out of there okay, Dennis! Wow. It's icy down here in Portland, too. I bet tonight the roads here will be similar.
Great for the Auto Body Shops...!
Stay safe brother … Happy Holidays
Wear layers and always walk on the snow so you don't slip. So glad you didn't slide off the road. Drive slowly and Happy Holidays! Be Blessed!
Are you still stuck there brother?
Thanks!
Thank you!! 🙌🏼
Hope you made it home safe Dennis, I know you had to park your sleigh for the holidays.
Wow highly entertaining but I hope everything resolves safely.

Oh my! How did you get your vehicle home? Stay safe and warm.
I went back for it later in the day and was able to drive it home. The snow had melted enough.
Safety first, when they tell you to stay home, listen. Invest in some Yaktraks. Oh and stay home!
Please be careful…..down here in the Portland area it’s just as bad. *BE SAFE* and Merry Christmas ❄️🎄☃️
This ice storm affected all
the way from Vancouver Canada and Victoria down to Oregon nasty

Glad you are home safe, sound and warm.
Was that a stroller outside of that tent? I pray ther was no baby or small child in that tent.
I hope you got unstuck. My husband got stuck in someone’s driveway for over an hour the other day. Take care!

They try to avoid salting the roads as it runs off into the Sound and kills the salmon population
Be careful my man. It was the same situation here in Tulsa yesterday!!
slippery slopey slope
I'm moving to Seattle on Jan 4 I hope this sheet ice situation is resolved by then.
This is a short lived affair and you’ll be fine by then. It’s melting now.
Like paying taxes do ya? Welcome
Hope you made it out of there! 🧊☃😆
Coffee !! Should have stayed home and warm lol
Please be safe.
Wow same here in Surrey BC😮😮😮Take care brother
My entire car was covered in a sheet of ice today. Had to chip out my car
Door!
I was wondering what Seattle is like this morning. Heard there was ice. Careful. :)
Slippery
What part of seattle? We are going there Jan staying downtown- snow there too? I hate the snow, i dont like cold
All of Seattle. Not snow you have to worry about, but ice!
That sucks! Is it bcoz rain mix with snow? How bad is it in the downtown areas? We are staying at marriott waterfront
It's FREEZING in winter, you should come in the summer
Dont worry, the snow and ice will be gone by then, but I promise you it will be 34°-35° and raining for your trip. 🤣
Nice pal. From Brazil.
I wore crampons to walk out in my parking lot
definantly rough out here :/
i cant believe u went out
Tragic though to give up your coffee!😂
You need a pair of Yak tracks.
Why are you driving? Everyone is staying home because of the ice. I live in Tacoma.
Had to get meds for my dad as mentioned in the description.
studded snow tires you need
Stuck on ice🔥🤣🇨🇦🇺🇸
🤣
Do you get mail on days like this??
We didn't where I am in Seattle 😭
What’s the point?
Spites on shoes!
You should be at home with your kids. Eating hot soup and watching videos all day like me.
I'm in Nashville. It is 6 degrees! Craaaap! Your wife will be very angry if you hurt yourself.

I got chains ⛓️ and I was everywhere this morning lol

@gemmarodriguez This extreme cold and ice is a rarity in Seattle. You will be fine.
