Hey, Chris. When your mats are buried in mud like this, you might try grabbing them near the end and then swinging left for the left end or right for the right end. That way you would not be trying to lift tons of material. Instead, you would be slipping the mats out from under that mud. Great vid, as usual. Thanks.
I’ve built many board roads in raceland Louisiana and I’ve watched a many operators operate equipment. This guy is y the best operator I’ve seen. The only question I have is why not grab a pallet or get a tree trunk and pull the muck where you want it? No sooner than I clicked send he grabs a mat and pulls mud.
Damn everything he digs just seems to flow back in the mud. Thats crazy stuff! At first you can see what he dug. Then by the end you couldnt tell. Poor fella !
There has got to be a better way. I think the Army Corp of Engineers needs to work on this issue. Like mats with sealed half of 50 gal drums bolted underneath or something. I remember the first video of Chris that I saw was his rescue of another excavator that was cab deep stuck in the mud. I do remember that on that occasion a mat got so deep he said 'just leave it".... Watching that miracle rescue got me hooked on watching this artistry.
To be honest, I never knew excavators could even venture out into mud that deep until I started watching you Chris. You're braver than I would ever be, lol.
I know Im asking randomly but does any of you know a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot the login password. I would love any tips you can give me
One of the better videos I’ve seen in a while from you. I love hearing the constant positive talk to the old girl to keep her above grade. Made me laugh.
Okay! I like thinking outside the box and inventing stuff. Looking at the liquidity of the sludge... thinking of a system to actually make it soupy enough to pump... set it up on a conyeor system that you set up with the excavator. Have the conveyor system extend back to the bank and load the trucks. Set up enough mats under the excavtor that it remains operational and can move the mud/soupd to keep the pump fed. Looks like all of NC washes away with each rain and enough sediment ponds to make this feasible. The excess water from the sludge should drain off the material on the way to the truck to make it dry enough to haul and keep adding back to keep making soup to keep moving material.. If pump dont work it might have to be an auger type deal to feed conveyor.
Confession to make........ I happened upon your channel about a week ago. I have not been able to stop watching your videos. LOL. Yesterday in the middle of watching a video I was thinking to myself, “Dude you need to get up and get some stuff done!” For some reason, it’s almost kind of soothing to me. Thanks for the videos sir.
one way to do this is the oldschool way they used to plow fields with traction engines... have a bucket tied to a pair of winches, one winch pulls it across, the other pulls it back each time bringing a load of mud with it
Quite a few years ago there was a song out that today's vid reminded me of " Smooth Operator" LOL I've watched almost all your vids and today you "almost" got flustered yet a few more swings of that bucket you were right back on top of it slinging mud very nice job Chris. I love your vids and some of the awesome jobs you get . That mud seems to be deeper out there than the rest of the job so far Thanks for another great vid and I'll see you tomorrow
Ive had to mat to dig a few ponds from ground level down no fun. But i took 3 mats put two side by side then one on top held up my 210 Hyundai pretty good but boy i know you got a mess there this is where experienced operator shows the differences between stick holders and operator much props bud love ur channel from nc too
What’s your issue, nobody can say anything without a pathetic nutjob like you trying to provoke people, your just a duster who has nothing better to do than sit and shit on people on TH-cam, get a life you dumb fuck.

Hi Chris, no matter how you approach this job. Even if you leased a long reach excavator. You would be in the same spot that you were in digging. These are tough jobs to do. And that excludes the risk factor. Stay safe, i hate to be paying your insurance, Joe Capo.
That seems like it would be a butt puckering headache to have to deal with all day. At least it isn't a beaver swamp with random stumps hidden down in the mud.
Man you make it look so easy. I need this done at my camp. But this would have to be barged to location. No where near this hard to do but i need depth. About 200 yards 50 feet wide and 12 feet deep would be perfect.
makes me wonder if a big dragline from nearer the shore might be a better option for such a large lake...Long reach excavators have such small buckets it would take weeks to pull that out. And draglines are not cheap to move from here to there.
How do you adjust the angle of the counter weight when you use it as a dozer? The right tool for the right job you need a snorkel and fins! Now I know where it goes when I flush...🤣
Clever how you use the counterweight to grade the mud at 17:24. Trowels it right out. Looks like the more you move around, the soupier the mud gets. It's like chocolate pudding. What's the weather forecast? Can you wait until the water settles out. Channel the flat in a grid so the water can drain faster? Machinist suggestions. I love to meddle in another guy's racket.
Chris, I'm glad it's you and not me, you would need to be paid extremely well to subject you're machine to that sort of mess. No doubt your mats sink as the excavator moves its weight, and the excavator with them.
I talk to my machines too. Their like family. Some time they are bull headed and don't want to listen but I cuss at them and it usually gets thru to them.
As your sinking you grab your Matt and start bringing more mud to you, you should instead dig a circle around yourself and let yourself sink to solid stuff the mats your sitting on for the most part will push all that mud out around you into the outer circle then all you gotta do is remove that mud and then once your on solid ground you can start tapering it back from were you want to cut plus both were your sitting and the mud you put up in a pile will dry out quicker so if you needed to build yourself a little ramp it would be much dryer and more solid, just an idea trying to help you with better performance and knocking out a few birds with the same stone so to speak.
Its sinking out of sight but it will stop eventually 🤣🤣 i have used 2 50ton wreckers with winches doubled and tied to trees because the guy said the same thing. He stopped and tried to get out when the turn table was getting close to being covered, we got called when mud was 2’ deep in the cab. We got it out but that lake jelly dont like being played in lol
was working for McMurry Ready Mix and an operator got an excavator stuck. Counterweight was completely berried. Threw a track. Even after our mobile wash guy spent 10 hours cleaning it had mud in the engine bay. Mud in the valve bay. Mud in every compartment in the back. They didn't have mats. What a mess.
@@littlebuddy761 set up a mud press on site then set up a vactruck suck a load then dump into mud press and load out dry material Into dumpers. Our truck can do a 20mtr (65ft) lift no problem with a 6inch line so should be able to suck from a bank just dragging the hose would be a pain
You almost need to dig a hole, then run the mats on the shallow area, as the weight doesn’t hold when the dirt is lower around it and the high hill you sit up on top of wants to push out, then set the dirt back.
I came here for the dragline comments. On a serious note, would another option be to dig deeper and get to the "solid" ground instead of wider and shallow? Eventually, the sloppy sides would break down and everything would "level" out.
Whatever they call that area you are working on there (lake) - I get the feeling it really wants to be flooded in with silt/mud and will continue to be.
Chris I enjoy watching your videos, but I think you need to invest in a small auger dredge. I would be completely frustrated, it's like cutting an acre of land with a pair of scissors, yet you always seem to be doing this type of work.
So Chris, correct me if I’m wrong but the original area already dredged had somewhat of a base of rock/gravel material. So I know you don’t have one, but would a track loader work better in this situation, if you would start from the area already dredged and work in to the lake from there? I don’t know for sure if it would work without being there and seeing it in person. But was just a thought.
I was kind of thinking along those lines also , If you had a dozer with LGP tracks and worked from the area already cleared and pushed towards the bank as far as you could and then used the excavator to pile it up . But as wet as that stuff is there is no perfect solution to doing this job . just hope you don't end up in China before your done .
Just a thought Chris. Have you ever thought about a screw auger or a belt conveyor to move the mud to the shore or straight into a waiting truck ? I don't know if it is feasible but it is a thought.

The amount of skill and awareness needed to stay afloat while dredging that is under appreciated.

My thoughts completely . A master of mud. LOL Have you ever “lost” one of “mats” you use to get around. ??
You are a very good operator who knows the limits of his machine and can get out of very bad situations.
I hope they are paying good. This doesn’t look easy.

Ought tell the fellas up at Volvo to make a hovercraft kit to bolt onto your tracks eh Chris?

How’s that job coming along wear u cleared all those trees for the big pond project last video I saw of that with you setting grade
Jeff Rhodes he probably is trying to get this job done before he goes back.
the customer probably isn't in a big hurry for it.
You need mats for your mats 😂. Great job got a little hairy there for a bit!
Maybe mats for those mats if the mud is up to the counterweight
or maybe legs on his mats
That kind of work is exhausting.
At least you have an excuse for the stains, it was the “mud”
You don't always do ya
Is there a use for the goop? Perhaps after it has dried out?
The deeper mud was possibly in the original creek channel(?) You did a great job. ....13
