    Not to mention the politics and homeless delema. I've in California all my 57yrs and now it's time to go. Kentucky is on our radar. Thanx for the reassurance.

      @@katieskeen right now, housing. We had to move from our rental because they sold it. We are in a trailer till we find a new place. Rents are high and you need alot just to get in. Also not enough to choose from.

      So glad to hear you are loving it. What do you enjoy the most? What drew you to Louisville?

    I lived in Louisville but now in Miami. I've lived in a few other places too. My Aunt Eileen retired from a teaching position in San Francisco back to Louisville. She wanted to take care of my grandparents in her early retirement. This was the early 1990s. She really did not think Louisville was a bargain place to live. She owned her house in San Mateo and rolled it over to Douglas Hills. She made a good salary at San Francisco State University... More than in KY but she didn't want to work after retirement. Her pension was probably higher than if she taught or retired at U of L.. She hated winters in Louisville but who really likes winters in Louisville. Summers do suck there too.

      You made a booboo in the second to last sentence in your comment. You said,
      "She hated winters in Louisville but really likes winters in Louisville." Hated and likes winters in Louisville? You might need to edit that.

      I get your sarcasm, but the fact is in the last census period CA lost so many people that they lost a seat in the House of Representatives. No doubt CA will lose more people. I'm one that left after living there my entire life.

      They're coming to Alaska too

    • @jazzcatt
      @jazzcatt ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@florencia2771 They certainly are not going there for economic reasons. Alaska is super expensive. I've also heard that most transplants to Alaska only last a year. They quickly learn that they can't handle winters or the midnight sun of summers.

    Less taxes is not exactly correct. Before I moved to KY I checked that. Found out that taxes are very similar to that of California. Most comparisons only look at one type of tax, which is very misleading. For instance, KY has death taxes, CA does not. Also, on every utility bill I get a school tax is added. In CA School taxes are part of your property tax.
    You need to consider not just state taxes, but county and city taxes to determine what your complete tax burden is going to be.
    The place I looked took into account ALL taxes.
    I wanted out of the city as I was raised in the mountains in CA, so I moved to rural Appalachian Mountains in Clay County, about 10 miles outside of Manchester. Prices for food and gas are higher here than they are just 30 miles away in London.

      True, but KY still has a lower cost of living than most states.
      No different in CA, our gas here in the mountains costs up to $1/gal more than the valley, easy. You pay to live away from industry and civilization. Alaska and Hawaii know this well lol
