Back in January, I decided on a whim to purchase the new LEGO set "76989 Horizon Forbidden West: Tallneck", despite not knowing anything about the game it was based on. Fortunately, a Steam sale allowed me to educate myself. My friend warned me upon going into the game that its "premise might seem REALLY weird at first"... but within five minutes of the opening cutscene, it all very quickly made sense to me. Why? Because I realized I had seen this all somewhere else before...
So, this video was in the works since January. By which, I mean I had been thinking about it for about eight months and then forced myself to stop procrastinating and put this entire video together in about a week to make sure it'd be out in time for 810NICLE Day 2023. BIONICLE belongs to The LEGO Group, Metroid belongs to Nintendo, and Horizon Zero Dawn belongs to Sony Interactive Entertainment. I remember finding a video a while ago about a possible reference to Bionicle in Horizon Forbidden West. On one of the beaches is a mysterious object that suspiciously looks like a Toa canister.
After watching this now, I'm almost certain that it was intentional.

I would add that the shadow entity's plan is to awake evil non-animalistic machines designed to clean every trace of life on the surface for the main AI to restart. Also, there's a weapon in the game called "Fire spitter". By the way I wrote a TTV post some years ago noting some striking similarities between both stories.

I definitely noticed the "Firespitter" during gameplay, but I forgot to mention it in this video. But I hadn't considered the similarities between the Faro machines and the Bohrok, so that's a good point!

This was literally all I was thinking when playing HZD. The similarities are way waaaaaay too numerous so I felt like I was playing a reskinned Bionicle game.
